Is anyone here actually a fan of either Berkey or Airball?

I joined the fan club some time last month.

inb4 ChicagoJoey says “Hey, it’s that All-inMcLovin guy!” Like you used to when I would watch your epic poker challenges and crack jokes back in the day.

Nik Airball is a future all-time poker great, this much is obvious.

He already has a great base of psychological influence skills. He creates and breaks rapport very quickly with anyone at the table. He can easily trigger humor and anger with his trash talk. Many of the silent analytical types don't and will never develop these skills. Not Linus. Not Haxton. Not Trueteller.

With his education background, he has what it takes to take down the technicals and fundamentals easily. He probably has this 70% done.

He is a quick study. Even Berkey admitted that Airball in the first session was nothing like Airball in their most recent session. In other words, Airball is very coachable.

He has tilt issues but is self-aware enough to have acknowledge it. He will be coachable in this area too. Guaranteed.

At 26, Airball is where Ungar and Hellmuth were when they started to get known. We will see more of Airball because he can market himself like a pro wrestler too. This guarantees that he will always be in the limelight. He does this deliberately, unlike Matusow, Sheikhan, and others who were just being themselves. Nik Airball can shift characters. He is a heel, currently.

Nik Airball has both fans and anti-fans. This is 100 times a better scenario than someone that is just plain vanilla neutral.

For some reason a large number of people like to support bullying trolls. Over 74 million of them in fact.

Also team Airball. He's ruffling feathers of some of the old guard. How can that not be good for the game's growth?

Not sure what I make of Brownballa yet. He annoys me to watch him...reminds me of Beavis and Butthead.

What's wrong with pointing out that certain players can never be entertaining, talkative, and verbally influencial? This is true with the population in general.

Live poker has a psychological element not just a technical one. Airball can crossover into the technical side. Many technicals can never crossover into the psychological influence side, either because they can't personality-wise, or they're just in denial of its value in a live setting.

Airball "talked" Jungleman out of a call.

Once Airball gets ripped like Doug, his mind with be even more adept and he will crush.

I am mild Berkey fan.

Even if im not sure how good a player he is at cash, I view his efforts to pioneer a fun style as a positive for the game and think he creates some positives for the poker community with his content.

Poker needs more fun/charismatic players to increase mass appeal and even if Berkey isn't for everyone, he has some flavor.

Berkey actually makes me laugh at times and handles himself with class, so I favor him. Airball seems intent on talking so much without actually saying anything remotely funny, interesting, or hardhitting, so **** him.

By the way, Doug is annoying in that same way. He also talks nonstop and is the one always laughing the most at his own jokes. I’ve never seen anyone abuse the polite courtesy laugh more than Doug, which you give people when they’re not actually funny but don’t wanna make things awkward. Not surprised he likes airball a lot.

I am of Berkey. He's one of the few remaining high-profile players who hasn't scammed anyone or enriched himself by shilling for a shady business. Although I don't think he's a premiere player or see much value in his Solve for Why offerings, I have to respect the guy for his hustle. On a personal level he just seems like a good guy and that counts a lot in my book.

I agree with this. I personally wouldn't pay him for coaching myself, and
he sure does love big words. But he really seems like a solid guy and has been completely open and transparent about going broke and running it back up, being staked and etc.... I can see why someone like Doug would trash him, because he makes himself an easy target, but that doesn't make Berkey a scammer.

Ive kind of lost any interest in this match because of how long the breaks inbetween play are. They should just call it a draw and move on. They both still benefit from it, getting more exposure notoriety etc.

Well not everyone benefits, Polk's rep took a serious hit as far as I'm concerned and Berkey winning would further clown on Doug, which I imagine must be a decent motivation. Also, you know, 6figs+ in sidebets

Berkey has charisma? lmao. Every time I see him he's just a statue with that same semi ******ed facial expression.

can't really argue with that too much, but he also plays a lot of hands which makes for good tv.
