Listened to some of that. Surprised there wasn’t more discussion about it here.

Two most notable things I heard (if anyone cares):

1. Rob Yong swiftly dismantling Garrett’s logic in the most classy polite way possible. Basically telling him there’s no sound logical way to justify not taking the J4 dispute to “arbitration”. Rob Yong came off very well in the interaction.

2. Someone else (don’t remember who) said they got cheated by Chad Power at Steve Aoki’s house.

The most hilarious part of this is how Doug used Nik Airball for content by sending him to crash and burn while knowing it's the most likely end result. I bet the Upswing inner circle had a few very good laughs on Airballs behalf. Doug understood he just needed to gently nudge/direct this loose cannon towards Berkey while providing a platform for him to speak out and it would result in weeks of good content and clicks.

Oh that would make alot of sense. The speaker had also said he suspected it for along time; and then Keith Lehr was able to confirm it recently.

I clearly remember what I heard in the Space for the short time I listened.

I just wasn’t looking at who was speaking at the time. Not good at recognizing every voice.

of course, but when the participants are broadcasting the results all over social media, its particularly easy for the IRS to follow it. The IRS should have a department specifically dedicated to following these types of things. It would make the government more money than trying to chase down someone for inappropriately taking a home office deduction.

So basically Berkey took Airball for 25 buy-ins in less than 60 hours which should be the equivalent of something between 1,000 and 2,000 hands and we're supposed to think Airball was the mark all along?

Remember when Galfond was stuck 50 buy-ins at one point vs vidi over a much, much bigger sample?

Just to clarify, I don't like Airball and I don't think he was ever a favourite either, but this looks pretty odd to me.

Casinos in the US don't track results for cash games. They document big $-amount chip purchases and cashouts but AFAIK they never report them to the IRS or anything. I think that theoretically the IRS could seek out that info for an audit, but the fact that this match took place in a casino wouldn't be enough for someone to get caught evading taxes if nothing else put them on the IRS's radar.

Probably not. The fact that they look into home office deductions, for example, means millions more people will be honest on home office deductions. It's the same reason the threat of a speeding ticket keeps the vast majority of people in line (despite low probability of getting a ticket), but if you had 0% chance of getting a speeding ticket, many would speed as much as they felt like.

That’s all the information I heard reported on the space regarding this topic.

Again that’s just what I recollect hearing secondhand from Twitter Spaces. I’m pretty confident in what I heard but someone else can correct me if they heard something different.
