LOL a bit of an overstatement, BUT, unfortunately, some real truth too. I hope there is more than a bone in the end, but after the "suits" get finished you may be right.

From the point of view of the buyer, I don't so how you can do this deal unless you know someone in person, as it's hard to enforce payment if FT does pay out.

Well considering they have to submit to a blood test just to post in this thread is it really a surprise that all information has ceased?

No, it's more a fact of people talking out of their ass and not actually being willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Awhile ago I suggested that anytime someone makes a definitive statement about how likely a deal is to go through (or not), or makes some silly proclamation about the value of FT dollars, they should be required to take a minimum amount of action based on their statement or get banned from the thread. Not that it's really plausible, but it would certainly cut down on a lot of the people blithering nonsense just to make themselves feel better one way or the other.

If one is picking symbolic days to announce a deal, tomorrow isn't a bad one. Just sayin.

So how do enforce the payout then if FT pays?

You can t really. Your taking a chance. Say I sold you my balance for %25 on the dollar and I said I had $1,000. You pay me the $250 and next month FTP decides to send the checks. The cheque comes and there is only $800, how do you settle it? I going to say FTP ripped me off, I had the money, they took, nothing I can do.

There's not any way to enforce it. That's why when someone shows up with six posts and the username "Imma_Trollin_U" and tries to sell their FTP money, no one buys.

If an actual respected poster who seemed trustworthy wanted to unload their FTP money, there would definitely be people interested.

The main reason you don't see a lot of transactions nowadays is that most people who genuinely wanted to buy/sell FTP funds have already done so. Most of the ones left are the ones optimistically holding on because they were hoping to get 90c/dollar or the vultures "looking to buy FTP funds" but wanting to pay 5c/dollar for it.

fwiw when i contacted my lawyer to draft up a contract to purchase someones FTP balance, he strongly suggested that I not do it as he said no matter how water tight he tried to make the contract it still probably would not hold up and be enforceable.

did(would) you still buy (assuming you knew the seller personally)?
06-28-2012 , 05:28 PM
If you did want to sell your FTP money, how would you let people know what you had for a current balance the day it went down?

If you are U.S., you could have requested an account history following the U.S. shut down (Black Friday, April 15). It would have to be your current balance because you couldn't play/cashout/transfer after that.

They sent them out in excel spreadsheets if you requested it.

I'm sure European players had a similar option but there would be no way to know they didn't play after a certain date unless they got them after Alderney pulled the license.

On a personal note, it's agonizing that we haven't been paid yet. Especially, considering that there are reports that HL and CF had offers that would have repaid us but passed on them because they wanted to keep control/ownership. DKfjadlkfjdlakfjadkljfklajfkdjalkfjkdjaflkaj

i didnt buy

if I knew 99% of the risk was a based on a deal getting done (and 1% risk of the seller screwing me) then I would still do it

profpoker banned him for some pretty marginal "trolling" imo (he posted "csb" in response to one of my posts), he had infraction pts i guess so he got an insta temp-ban and then he logged in from a different account to post something completely unrelated in the video game forum and was perma-banned for violating his temp-ban (from what i've gathered). I don't think it's deserved bc GGI has been a pretty solid poster for the last couple years, hopefully he can get reinstated

As DF has said, an announcement does not necessarily (and most likely does not) equal insta-payouts, people. Most likely, payouts would come weeks after an official announcement. Therefore, any theory that an announcement is being delayed to avoid a bank run, seems way off.

Additionally, an announcement that you have settled a criminal and/or civil suit is not necessarily something you want huge publicity for. For THAT reason, the start of the WSOP might be a good day to announce to deflect some of the attention. That being said, I believe DF said that they are not waiting for a special day to announce, they are going to announce when a deal is done.
