Well tapie could easily start another poker site with a fraction of the money he would have spent on tilt.

5 million for software development.
5 million for software maintenance
5 million for licenses and marketing
5 million to set up banking transactions and employees salary

Before anyone says you can't build poker software for five million, let me assure you that you can.

Tapie should call his new poker site le tilte de full número deux

I think the game all along was to get the PK-ware, or at least PK-talent, without all the baggage that came with it. Sounds like he's succeeded.

It's my understanding that the deal will be officially announced the 3rd week of May and potentially sooner. I would be willing to bet money on this as well

Not sure when ROW get paid but launch etc should follow quickly.

U.S. players should get paid within 90 days of announcement but have to submit for with DOJ

As some people are struggling to understand why PS buying FT is good business, here is a summary:
Good for PS - Owners avoid legal action; potential to re-enter lucrative US market; massive goodwill in poker community, injection of $300million into poker eco-system = increased rake; take control of their second biggest competitor; Will own two profitable brands - All this for half the original settlement fee with DOJ ($1.5billion)
Good for DOJ - No admin hassle paying US players back; bring the circus to an end
Good for players - We get paid!!; Get the site back

You have to remember, PS arn't really that bothered about FT per'se, but if buying it and paying its creditors (i.e. players) means getting back into the US then they will do it.

To be honest, 2+2 being gone for over 2 weeks was a blessing for me. 2 solid weeks of clawing at this screen with no news would have been awful.
05-12-2012 , 09:42 PM
I was bummed 2+2 was down because I couldn't sweat this. Now it seems I have to rethink this whole approach.

Nice thought, but where does it say PS ever get back into the (currently non-existent) US market?

I'm just trying to figure out what DOJ is going to do with the $350-400M they are going to pocket off of this, if the true buyout figure is $750M.

Which reminds me, I wonder if the Stars/Wynn partnership is going to be announced as being back on sometime soon. Maybe this fall?
Some have claimed the buy out figure may end up as more like $900mil.

so i guess i should of bought all the FTp money when it was at .15c per dollar

Would you like to make a wager? I am willing to put my money on this.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BECOME OFFICIAL THE 3rd WEEK OF MAY

What kind of odds are you willing to lay? Making an even-bet wager just means you think the chances are greater than 50%, which I think most people probably think without any kind of inside info.

most ppl itt have no understanding of economics/business/investments at all after reading the many comments on why would stars want to buy ftp. as long as stars think that ftp will be profitable (and it clearly is, especially with the stars branding behind it), it would be a +ev investment that would INCREASE the company's turnover. it doesn't matter that they already have a "monopoly" of the industry, buying their direct competitor will only increase their overall market share. of cus the biggest concern for them will be cannibalism but even pre bf, many regs played on both sites at the same time especially the HU and MTT regs.

perhaps rather than trolling this thread for hours everyday with their narrow minded un-informed views, these people should spend the time educating themselves instead.
