Didn't FTP get denied a patent for Rush Poker???
Don't think it was denied, just pending.

I also wonder what Stars' business plan is?

Do they keep the sites separate? A lot of intermittent grinders chose FTP over Stars because they couldnt always hit the bonus levels every month.

Interesting to see what happens....

Theyre buying it so they can open FTP2 right away for americans and get some of that merge money?
04-24-2012 , 12:42 PM
Crazy news!

Good for players: we get our money back!!

Bad for players: this will prevent a price war, the promotions if someone else had bought FTP would have been pretty sick, they'd have tried to entice a ton of Stars players across.

Good is def much bigger than the Bad

Wise move from Stars if true, they have a second licence to print money in FTP and also now do not need to worry about a big competitor trying to undercut them.

SO they are going to buy FTP for 750 mill?? werent GBT going to buy FTP for 80 mill?
Included in this is full coverage of player balances, and a legal settlement with the DoJ. This last part is the key to the deal for Stars.

750m includes 80m + fines, etc.

This is basically a lawsuit settlement with the DOJ, FTP and Stars are clean now.

Pokerstars just solidified their license to print non-US money. They're going to have such a monopoly, they could do almost anything to the rake.

Stars wont settle Bitar's lawsuits.

this is about FTP as a company and probably whoever owns stars that was indicted.

There's a big difference between 94% of the players getting paid off on day 1 and 94% of the actual money that's owed. DUCY?

you sure this is good news?

I would love to see the reactions from us players, just after they woke up.

Although I like the possibility that the news of PokerStars buying Tilt is true and we will get paid back, I'll believe it when I see the balance in my FullTilt account in my bank account

This makes sense for a number of reasons, but the one that people need to be reminded of is the DOJ case against stars. PS is a legitimate company and they don't want the DOJ case hanging over their heads. Especially when it comes to possible re-entry to the US market. Resovling their situation with the DOJ while being the savior of FT balances is a huge public relations boost that makes the upfront costs of FT aquisition easy to swallow.

Not worried about a monopoly at all. Open US market will lead to multiple casino based sites opening. If Stars/FT charges too much rake, alternatives will become more attractive. I'm willing to pay a small upcharge for the software/player pool anyway.

One time please. Let PS handle US payouts instead of having to apply through DOJ.

Whats the odds of EU approving the merger of the two by far biggest poker sites?
