Re: *** Official Bodog Network Support Thread ***

Does the rabbit-hunting show the actual card that is next to be dealt? Isn't the RNG a continuous shuffle, and therefore the next card would be different if you had called instead of folded, etc., thereby changing the timing of the deal?

(Not that rabbit-hunting has anything to do with proper play, obv, just fun.)

You should always click the mouse button 4 times in each corner before calling to get the best possible card.

I was actually going to write a second paragraph but hit send too early. I figured it would be more amusing the way I did it. But yeah you're right, there's a continuous shuffle, so the rabbit card is purely for show. A good way to put it is that the rabbit card is for people who don't know what a continuous shuffle is.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I think I'll still leave it on and pretend, for the fun of it.

I was pretty sure I read somewhere that Bodog is NOT continuous shuffle.

Wow, I'm kinda surprised by that, you're right. I emailed them:

Dear Adam,

Thanks for contacting Bovada Poker Customer Service.

We understand your inquiry on how cards are shuffled on the Bovada Poker software and we thank you for the time you took to write us.

To answer your inquiry, Bovada.LV's Poker software uses a program to generate all results in the poker room. The purpose of the program is to generate random number with no predictability. Remember, if Poker results were predictable, they could be exploited by the players in their favor. By offering a fair, unpredictable game, we ensure that our customers have a reason to keep playing at Bovada.LV. Here are some basic details as to how our Poker RNG works:

- In Poker, the deck is not 'continuously' shuffled; once the hand starts the deck of cards is stored in memory on the server in the order that it was randomly shuffled to prior to the start of the hand and the system is designed so that the order of a deck is not known and cannot be accessed in any way other than for the purpose of the system dealing the hand.

- The system distributes the first available randomly shuffled deck as needed to start a hand for a given table and the type of game, how many players are at the table, or other specific details of the table are not considered by the system; the first available deck is simply grabbed and used.

We regularly test our Random Number Generator to make sure it's working. During internal tests, all numbers fell within expected standard variation. We have also had this part of the system tested externally by Gaming Associates, an international software testing company that tests many online poker RNGs.

For more information on our RNG and to see our Card Shuffling Certification click on this link:

Our Poker Customer Service Team is available via e-mail at poker@bovada.lv 24/7 to help if you need anything else.

Thanks,

Email them with the hand number, the player number(s) in question, and why you think it was cheating.

Got disconnected from a table tonight and was able to see in the lobby that the table went from 6/6 to 1/6 in one update cycle. I emailed support about it and am expecting the typical it's not their problem it's mine answer. Ice, I have screenshots of this, so if you want them let me know.

Ive heard you repeat this but your thinking here might be a little off.

Short stackers do not drive the games, bad players do. Yes, a lot of bad players buy in for smaller amounts, so its easy to confuse the difference.

If the min buy in was increased, it wouldnt eliminate those bad players.

They would just be sitting with more BBs.

Short stackers are terrible for the games, period. The fact that bad short stackers are +EV is irrelevant to everyone because they will be more +EV to winning players if they were sitting with bigger stacks, and at the same time the games become more enjoyable for recreational players that like to see flops as apposed to having some SS jamming over him every other orbit.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that every SS is a fish. That is simply not the case especially at mid + stakes.

Of course, this is neither here nor there, as I dont expect Bovada to increase the min buy in.

Just in theory I do not believe SS`s make the games better regardless of their skill level.

Quote:
Is it a problem that the short stackers double up and leave? Maybe, maybe not.
They can leave all they want, thats not the issue. The issue is good SS`s ratholing without any deterrent. Fish that buy in short arent ratholing the majority of the time.

Yes.

Its simple.

As was stated, dont let players rejoin a table with less than they left with for 30-60 minutes.

This is a win win win. It truly is a change that with be + for good players, recreational players, and the site.

What about adding a $15+.75 hyper turbo 6 max sit and go since their are no hyper turbo 6 max games under the $30 level? Thanks again for the recent additions!

Thanks! I prefer a set deck over a continuous shuffle so I know when I would or wouldn't have sucked out per the rabbit-cam. Makes life more interesting for us non-multitablers.

Why add a bunch of hyper turbo PLO8 garbage tournies? Bodog has easily the worst mtt schedule imaginable. How about adding synched breaks and multiple tournaments of a similar buy in starting close together.

Adding hyper-turbo mtts is suppose to be an improvment? Ugh...

As XaQ said, send an email to support with all information you can gather: where it happened (game, hand history #) player number, and your description of what happened. Also, remember that after 24 hours, hand histories show all hands dealt.. so you can check things out for yourself.

Why? Because people request more game offerings. I disagree with your assessment of the quality of the mtt schedule, but if you aren't happy with it.. what are some additions you'd like to see? Passing along a suggestion of "a weekly high stakes mtt at the $215 level" goes a lot further than "more mtts please".

As stated many times before, at this time, synchronized breaks are not something the network is interested in.

If you want suggestions go open the full tilt or ps client and thats all the suggestion you need. If you disagree about you're tourney schedule you clearly aren't familiar with online poker as a whole outside of Bovada.

Not sure how you can call my opinion wrong, so we're going to have to just disagree on this point. I have yet to see a single short stacker that I would consider a "good" player. The talk about professional short stackers is laughable at best.

You can't compare bovada to the biggest sites. I think ice has been very receptive to suggestions but you're just complaining. And asking for sync break is just beating a dead horse.

Ice: I think that 40+4 6max would do better if it started an hour or two later. It'd be nice if there was another one or two $50+ mtts near the 15k and 10k nightlies.
