Forrest couldn't have had an overpair in that situation?

He DID raise before the flop, so it's not impossible.

He could've have quads too. Are you up against a better hand in that spot some of the times? Sure. Are you up against a better hand 70% of the times? Not when the villain is an aggressive player.

Hellmuth is flat out owning Ferguson. c/r with J high. limp raise with 77. I don't think I've ever seen Hellmuth playing so focused hand after hand. It's a nice change from his normal antics.

He even loses the minimum when he feels he is really behind (I lol'ed when he balked with that preflop decision with J9)

PH is running over Jesus here.

Spoiler:
He's still an ass, though.

This is the closest Hellmuth has ever come to playing like his idealized version of himself.

Ferguson was totally demoralized.

Ted Forrest just gave the chunky redheaded dealer a big hug.

Hellmuth had a hell of a heater in the last match.

I liked Chris' constant raising on the button, bought him a lot of free cards, getting Hellmuth to check to him after the flop.

The top of Hellmuth's game is constantly violating the fundamental theorem of poker.

Before you crown PH greatest HU player in the universe, he was getting way better cards and flops than Jesus, at least in the hands they showed.

Ferguson didn't stand a chance. He didn't have any fighting cards or boards.

As Chris said, it's tough to win when you have to bluff every hand. And then the poor guy has to listen to Phil stating proudly how his calling every (bluff) bet set the tone. It is true that calling every bet with any pair worked for Phil since Chris was card-dead for the most part (assuming the hands we saw were representative), and when Chris did have him crushed with QQ he hit his two-pair on the river. Has they had each other's cards I think Chris' style may have been unstoppable.

Phil's preflop lay down of the J9 when Chris had AJ was pretty uncanny, since Phil called some of Chris' preflop raises with a lot worse.

I actually don't like raising on the button so much if you're going to be timid post-flop against an aggressive player. Jesus seemed to give up post-flop in the second half of the match, which made raising the button with all sorts of marginal hands a waste of chips. That said, Hellmuth did get blown away by the deck, and for once he was playing competently, so in reality Jesus was doomed no matter what he did.
