its been said before about hellmuth and will be again. His over the top egomania makes him LOTS of $. Do you think any network would bother to put together a clip of anyone else shopping for sunglasses? nope, its because hellmuth brings drama and comedy to the broadcast.

Also he doesn't scratch his ass, doesn't have hemorrhoids, or any other ******ed thing people who hate just to hate say. He is just pulling his pants, its simply a habit, you can see him do it in broadcasts from the 90's as well.

Wasicka .. holy hell I have never seen anyone play so weak/tight, I found myself wishing I had the roll to play him. I may make stupid calls, but at least I call occasionally.

Hellmuth, if you're reading this, you play like an elephant.

Your style is that of an elephant.

Not everyone out there is a jackal.

Some are mice, some are lions, but you sir, play like an elephant.

Chris needed to slow down after Phil was catching cards and calling him weak. No 2nd gear in his play tonight. But instead he opted to raise button every hand and not follow through on the flop. The better player (this match) won.

Phil may be an ass, but man he seems to come out better than most other players when you see him on TV.

Hellmuth made great calls with A high, great laydowns when behind, great reads in general. Strong bluffs. The guy played great.

Are the Hellmuth haters finally admitting that he played good heads up on tv?
IMO he ran over Ferguson

But mainly, he can lose a match, whereas Jesus can't. That's the sole reason for his aggressive play. Again, I think the format needs to be tweaked; it's a ridiculous edge to have in the Finals if the other guy has to win 2/2 matches. The finals should be either best of 3 or just one match to rule them all, but either way, the finalists should be on even ground.

He did play good, and he did run over Ferguson and make his play terribly in the end, but he was really catching the cards left and right when he needed to.

I admit Phil was catchin more cards, but it seemed like Ferguson couldn't get paid off on his few hands and he couldn't scale back a bit on the aggresion.

Jesus was playing terribly, no doubt. Pre-flop aggression is wasteful if you don't follow up post-flop, and it seems like Hellmuth just stole his mojo. Hellmuth deserves credit for taking advantage of that timidness, card rack or no.

Actually, the producers handled it perfectly and in accordance with just about every double-elimination tournament. Making it single elimination at the end would be unfair to the person that went undefeated and had already beaten Ferguson already. Why should Helmuth lose after going 1-1 against Ferguson?

The option of having it best 2 of 3 is probably not practical given the time limitations.

I didnt completely understand the format they were going for until wednesday night/thursday mornings episode (maybe I'm slow). The best format, imo, would have been a round robin set up where you have the two players with 3-0/2-1 records advancing to the finals to play a best of 3/5/7/whatever match. This would also, imo, have made up for some of the more boring matches, because during the round robin, you could have run two matches at once.

the way i see it, making the end single elimination (or best 2 of 3) would be completely fair.

the motivation to win the first match between chris and phil would be quite obviously to get a "bye week" and automatically advance to the finals. the loser had to play another match with ted forrest to reach the finals, so their odds of doing so were significantly reduced. phil won and he was rewarded for it. i think giving him a 1-0 start to the finals in addition to that is just way too much

Hellmuth played great. Of course he got waaay the better of it, but he played really great on all streets in almost every hand. When you can actually see the hole cards, pretty amazing he played this good.

God, isn't that the worst? You're playing heads-up with a station who has virtually no hand selection pre-flop, will call you down with bottom pair, and look you up on all rivers with as much as king high, and you can't hit a pair the entire session?

weren't they not very deepstacked at all? i could shove every hand blind vs. ferguson and his edge would only be close to 70%. pretty sure his edge in such a structure is not that big vs. phil or any sentient being with a clue
