Now I look, you're right. But he does have more hair than me!

Thanks.

The book I mentioned was "The Money Masters" by John Train. This is a more recent version ... http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...rs_of_Our_Time

For anyone interested, this is the SCOOP ME hand I mentioned ...

5-handed, 125k/250k + 30k ante.
UTG (20bb) folds
Scott Siever (9.2m) opens 565k in CO
BTN and SB (both ~20bb and playing conservatively) both fold
I call in BB with QJdd (16.2m stack)
Flop (1.4m) is 345 with 2 diamonds
Scott bets 578k, I call
Turn (2.6m) is Kd
Scott bets 1.47m, I call
River (5.5m) is 2c

I now have a well-disguised flush. From the way the hand played out and previous experience with Scott I believe his range now has a lot of A, esp Ad, which means he now likely has a 5-high straight. His remaining stack was 6.6m.

I now have 3 options: check, shove or smaller bet. All are worthy of consideration. I chose to check (hoping to c/r) but afterwards felt that was the wrong decision (in fact the worst of the 3). I was influenced by (1) Scott was playing a little more cautiously than usual, (2) he had the second largest stack (even if he folded to a shove) and (3) a check makes more in the event that he doesn't have an A. But immediately after the hand I regretted the decision. (btw some will argue with flop and turn but I'm happy with those in these particular circumstances).

The hand is at about 1:50 here ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8yNSbuOv6k
Hey Talal,

This is a cool hand.

Your intuition that he's pretty heavy in 5 high straights is correct IMO.

But trying to find bluff combos for Scott here is quite hard, because a lot of the hands that were semi-bluffing flop/turn just rivered a straight. His next most logical bluffs would be hands blocking other big diamonds that have < straight on the river. But with the K on the board and the Q and J in your hand, these are quite hard to find as well.

Playing your HAND vs Scott's RANGE is pretty interesting here, because he has 7 nut combos, relatively few non-nut flushes (something like 4 to 8 of them), some 6/7 high straights, but [probably] none that include offsuit combinations (due to opening in CO with ~20bb stacks on BTN/SB and the big stack in the BB), and a decent chunk of his range that is a 5 high straight with one diamond (often the Ad).

With all that said, I have to agree with Kanu (and what you said on the podcast)-- I prefer a small bet over a check.

Have not watched a pod in so long, but as an original avid supporter, I shall return. All in good time

I really hope both of you guys (doug and joey) 'news from NVG" keeps running and you guys find success with it. Hopefully it attracts some outsiders. Poker needs all the help it can get. We need more players playing poker!

Great pod with Talal, Joey. I really enjoyed watching it and getting his perspective on some great topics. Keep up the good work Papi and good luck in that 25K PLO WSOP tourney. TID!!!

I think raidalot realized trying to talk strat in NVG was suboptimal.

Loved the pod.

I've had the idea for this type of show for about 3 years now and have talked about it with various people over that time. I am pretty good friends with the Upswing guys and will most likely end up doing something pretty great with them in the near future. I did talk a bit with the guys about this type of show and why I think it is GTO to do. I think I have a much different perspective when it comes to all of this world. I don't really look at anything else as competition, if people out there enjoy listening/watching something else then I think they should. I have a lot of appreciation for people who actually put the time in to make anything for the poker world.

I wrote a short blog post on why I think these types of shows are really important for poker because of how much it helps to keep current fans of poker and former/onthe fence fans of poker engaged in what is happening in the world. I agree with tytythefly that it is a new way to help attract some outsides into poker and get them to become more engaged/in the know on what is happening. I really think that angle isn't very utilized in helping to attract more people into/keeping them around poker.

I have outlined a show like this in about 10 different variations and the original one me and Adrian went with isn't going to be the one that we end up using. I think these types of shows could have a really big impact in the poker world in the upcoming years and would expect to see more of them soon.

Your post prob gonna get deleted. I posted something along the same lines, when I was a mod, and the mods were not happy about it!

Anyone heard the opinion that feminism was created by certain businessmen to get women out of the household and into the workforce? Doubling their markets.
Search Aaron Russo feminism for more info.

I have PM'd Doug to discuss the bet.

A couple of things:

i) I wonder if he will play his Upswing 'well' style, or his Doug 'winning' style?

ii) Will he stream the challenge? (Even if he hides the holecards I think it'd be useful to watch)

iii) Will Joey do like he did for Yaarny and stream multiple sessions? (Or is NLHE ugly and bad?)

iv) This is the q I was interested in, so hopefully somebody can give an answer. When a player is playing zoom, can an observer watch all his hands through the stars client if he's logged in? (Like the old days where you could easily view all tables)
