You are wrong on two levels. Firstly it is a form of cheating and secondly people do care, including November Niner Kenny Hallaert who called for a ruling on it in this year's WSOP ME.

Something being allowed does not necessarily mean it is right or fair for the game. Yes, you are correct that the general ruling is that you can refer to it but not in the hand. This of course means that a player will plug in the stack sizes etc into the app, or refer to it on paper, in between hands and already have most of the data ready calculated before the cards are dealt, so it amounts to the same thing.

The wider point I was making is that the holier than though poker clique are the first to call out any one who doesn't live up to their high standards, when their own standards on closer scrutiny are no better. Wrong is wrong and unethical is unethical, whether someone blatantly cheats or bends the rules to gain an advantage, or does it in a more sophisticated way.

We can also apply this to players using seating scripts on line, which many do.

Big up to Kenny Hallaert for challenging an opponent using a bot in a live tournament to help make decisions.

Two very high profile players who I believe have produced and are actively marketing such apps are Max Silver and Jonathan Little. I have to say that both of them come across as two of the nicest people in poker, but I would still question the ethics of such apps being used in *live* tournaments, unless a copy is offered free or for a small fee as an option to all players at the table/in the tournament.

No I don't post to be contrarian, everything I post is 100% my honest view. I will also be totally honest that as a generalisation I have found the poker community to be one of the least intelligent group of people I have ever encountered in my adult life, which is why I believe I am in disagreement with the majority of them the majority of the time. And I am no youngster so I have had experience in many walks of life ranging from activities, people and professions that are very working class, through to working as a financial derivatives trader.

It is hard to tell exactly, if I am correct, why this is the case, but my instinct is that there are a lot of people in poker, in particular on line poker, whose range of intelligence and ability is largely confined to a quite narrow field of computing, gaming and playing poker.

This group also does not have a great deal of life experience because their average age is mid twenties and 5 years of this has been playing on line poker. So when you combine these factors the result is a lot of this group have huge blind spots in some of the simplest of logic, and they can get completely flustered by a concept that they have never heard of or by anyone who is diametrically opposed to any of their beliefs.

Anyway, this is my impression. I am not saying people in the poker community are bad guys and I certainly don't agree with everyone on every subject in the "real world", but if you think my current posts are long, I can tell you that I could reel off Joey's 40,000 word book, (on my subject) the stupidity within poker and the stupidity of how a lot of players think about things in 3 days flat. There is that much ready material in my mind.

So you can all raise a big cheer now as you won't be seeing much of me on the forums, hopefully nothing at all aside from some defending of myself if necessary on the one or two threads I am currently active on, and I will let my cards do the talking thereafter.

Good luck to everyone, no hard feelings, but generically you are a weird, weird group of people!

I can only hope that SageDonkey's self-awareness continues to blossom and he realizes that he ruins every thread he posts in.

I do have many positive comments and praise about my posts in various threads, but yes there are more people like yourself who are simply dismissive of what I say. I am not ceasing posting much more because of self-awareness or because of multiple trolls telling me I am a moron, I am doing so because it is a big -EV in terms of time wasted fending off trolls and criticism.

Before you or anyone else makes judgement on me as a poster I would say look at the breadth of all of my posts on 2plus2, including the many trip reports I have done on tournaments I played that include everything including hands played and descriptions of players and incidents etc.

NVG is the place where I have received 90% of all criticism leveled at me, so perhaps it says more about the type of people who frequent NVG than it does about whether my posts are deserving of criticism. I 100% accept that my posts compared to others are very long and that is probably what annoys people on NVG more than anything else, presumably because NVG contains more of the lowest common denominator than in other sections of the forum, and that type of person tends to prefer short and snappy posts and memes etc.

I think they are all fantastic and I have taken a lot of inspiration from much of the content in them. They are great entertainment and also a great learning tool, to learn not just about poker but also about people and other things.

His GTO club, although not a member myself, I would highly recommend because I think in Joey you have got someone who is giving life the full 100% every day and when you listen to him talk on any topic you get the passion he has so I am sure that any association with him and his principles of living a positive, healthy, fulfilling and ambitious life will rub off on those people around him.

I'm guessing this has been requested in the first 100 or so pages of this thread but if not, it would be awesome to get Matt Moore on...He hasnt really posted in Another Kid Another dream thread in a while, but still plays live High Stakes cash and must have a ton of stories...Also he always seemed to struggle with poker as a career and having other interests. Given the way the most recent podcasts have gone, combining life and poker or moving away from poker/getting more into poker etc...I think he'd be incredibly interesting.

As an aside Joey, I love the podcasts and think they have really changed my outlook on life, from positivity to self-worth, to considering whether your career (I work in sports, never played poker as anything but a fun player) is really what you want to be doing regardless of if its in poker or whatever. So thanks for taking the time to do what you do and thanks to all your guests for willing to come on and be open and honest for a few hours.
