hmmmm...why not simply buy a 30" 2560x1600 then?

and add a 20" 1600x1200 or two in portrait mode on the sides if need be.
Those can be found dirty cheap as used from ebay or similar.
Dell something something, the exact model# escapes my foggy memory right now.

My current setup is like that (20"+30"+20") and I think it's pretty good for all purposes.
Poker - tables tiled on the main screen, lobbys on one of the 20's and a browser+whatever on another 20.
Works like a charm.

Probably going for the same kind of setup, 20ish in portrait and 30"+ as main.

Mainly looking at alternatives as 32" 2560x1600 is better than 30" 2560x1600, if only it existed...

Also in my opinion :

32" 2560x1440 > 30" 2560x1600, but it probably depends on how many tables you play/etc.

Ya, it depends on whether you have use for those extra 160 vertical pixels or not which again is related to how many tables you play / how many rows of tables you need to fit onto the sceeen / if overlapping annoys you or not.

Doesn't look like there are any 32"+ out there with 2560x1600 res.
It's either 1440p or 4K.

Kinda LDO but noteworthy I guess if you consider buying those 20-inchers:
They won't be a perfect match with either the physical dimensions of a 32" or the 1440p res.

Hey Guys

I am looking for a new laptop as my current one is lagging a lot which causes problems whilst grinding.
What I need is a machine that can handle Pokerstars, Holdem manager (potentially with over 1 Mio hands in it), itunes, youtube and skype - all at the same time without any lag.
Now I have absolutly no clue what so ever about hardware/software so I hope someone could help me out with choosing a good notebook... below a link of a reliable online store.

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product...k-6?tagIds=614

Many thanks in advance

Almost any modern computer can do what you ask. Get an SSD drive in your system if you want HM2 to run well.

Other than that, you are asking for toaster that can toast bread; they all can.

^that.

In other news:

A usb-powered mobile monitor might be a legit option for a grinder who travels a lot with a laptop but wants to play on a dual-monitor setup.

E.g:
http://www.notebookreview.com/review...u+Review_mwall

Just 14", 1600x900, though, and TN-panel, but then again, fairly cheap, ~$170.

Would appreciate any feedback:

Currently using a 13" 7 yr old MacBook upgraded to 4 GB and w a SSD, tiling 12-24 MTT or stacking 18 HT. Works okay just kinda small 😊

I'm thinking about changing to a PC but bought into Mac with a iPhone etc and apps. Any decent value in syncing everything and can you do similar with say Samsung?

Thinking about the Note 4 and maybe a 15" laptop but at really the bottom end as no need for extra jazz?

Hello. My friend does not have 2+2 acc and wants SSD for his laptop.

His model - acer aspire v3-772g

I have no experience with laptops. But from what i have read usually people remove CD-ROM and there inserts SSD yeah?
But is it possible to add SSD as external hard drive?
I do not think it is very handy as you would put windows on it and would need your SSD connected all the time anyway.
Is it hard to put SSD in your laptop yourself? Or better go to some IT shop and ask them (we live in Thailand tho so not sure how competent they will be in some IT shops)?

Thanks.

Depends.

How many HDD-bays does his laptop have?
If multiple, there's no need to touch the optical drive.
If just one, then replacing optical drive with a SSD makes sense.

How hard it is?
Depends.
But in general, all it requires is simply screwing/unscrewing a few screws and plugging in a SATA-cable.

There are USB3.0 (or eSata I reckon) external SSD's out there but choosing such doesn't make a whole lot of sense if an internal SSD is an option.

The normal route would be replacing the current HDD with an SSD.

I did this easily (thanks DoGGz) and I'm a complete muppet. SSD should come with a cable and software that easily transfers existing HDD to SSD then it's just a matter of removing two screws under the laptop and plugging in the SSD.

A transfer cable and software can be included in the package but that is not necessarily always the case.
My 1st SSD came with a transfer kit.
2nd one was just the drive and I did a fresh install of OS on that one.

I need a laptop mainly for poker. Want to play up 5 sites and PT4 running. I have a 3 year old macbook pro which has slowed down a lot. So looking at upgrading to something better. How does this look for value? It's around €850 + delivery.

Any suggestions of good websites to get laptops in Europe are appreciated.

That includes Windows 8 in the price.

That is pretty good. Great for poker, but no graphics card means that it will be unusable for most games. Might not work out well if you need to run a bunch of external monitors as well.

Great combination of 'just enough' to make a solid poker laptop on the cheapish.

1920x1200 > 1920x1080 !

and who orders soundcards in 2014 who doesn't use the machine for producing music?

That is onboard sound I think.

Funny how they have Hard Drive and Solid State Drive as two different entities.

Edit: I see now. Kinda cool. http://www.kingston.com/us/ssd/s#sm2280s3

Hey guys
About to get this laptop
http://www.hidevolution.com/msi-gt70...-hdd-17-3.html
Only upgrade to this I am gonna make is add an SSD as OS drive and 16GB ram

There are some cheaper alternatives available with intelHD or lower graphics
But i do game sometimes hence prefer the 870m, though the laptop is going to be 90% used for Poker

From what i have heard the GT series is a little bulkier and heavier than other laptops but the slimmer and lighter ones cost a bit more and/or have lower CPU/GPU config

My budget is 1000-1300$ ( not including SSD ) if anyone has any other suggestions it will be helpfull

Since I use a Retina-Display at uni, I 'm having a hard time grinding hours on my standard-resolution 27+24 dual monitor setup.

What are my 4k-Options? Do I need both monitors to be 4k, or can I keep one of my old monitors without hassling with windows etc.

Ok, I understand. Thanks for replying.

Found this product which seems to be decent for grinding:

https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product...339?tagIds=614

Is this a good choice if I want to masstable without any lag as well? Also is this notebook compatible to an SSD if I wanted to affiliate it?

thanks again!

Yes, that computer can even run modern video games. Upgrading to an ssd should be no problem if you chose.

Hey guys, kind of a weird question..

I'm running a 3 monitor setup, with my middle one being my main display. For some reason when i tile my tables (on the main middle monitor), they all jump and tile on the smaller monitor to the left, and i have to drag them back to the middle one. Tried talking to Microsoft and the graphics card company but they were a pain.

Just curious if its something stars can help with...or if there's any serious nerds who may have an idea lol. any help much appreciated, thanks for your time!

set a custom layout instead of using the default tile option. i had a similar issue and it's been a decent work around.
