Please dont post as many hands at once. First of all its hard to read and thus some people dont read it at all. Secondly it takes away the discussion if there is an interresting hand in it.

1.) Is fine imo.
2.) Yep, minraise/fold.
3.) Meh, I just call and am very cautios postflop.
4.) Standard.
5.) Having an active BTN sucks, but I still think its fine to open this.
6.) Minraise/fold.

I am doing something wrong?
Why sng wizard suggest fold here if opp not loose (push if loose or very loose)?

PokerStars NLHE Tournament, ($6.45+$0.55), t100/t200/t25 blinds, 6 handed, 50%/30%/20% payouts
Hand exported from the SitNGo Wizard. How to import this hand into the SitNGo Wizard.
{Tournament|PokerStars|6.45|0.55|100|200|25|NLHE Full Table}
UTG: t1775 7.9 BBs{Player|UTG|1775|Fold|25}
UTG+1: t1085 4.8 BBs{Player|UTG+1|1085|Fold|25}
CO: t4695 21 BBs{Player|CO|4695|RaiseTo|825|Average|18|18|18|6}
BTN: t1365 6.1 BBs{Player|BTN|1365|Fold|25}
Hero: t1740 7.7 BBs{Player|Hero|1740|Ah|Ks}
BB: t2840 13 BBs{Player|BB|2840|Fold|25}

Preflop: Hero is SB with AK
2 folds, CO raises to t825 (9.6+), 1 fold, Hero?

Opponent calling ranges when hero pushes:
BB (2.8+), CO (9.6+)

Suggestion: Fold

In my mind this always push when short (if choose only push or fold):?

--------------------------------

It also suggest fold AQs mp with 6.x bb deep if <14% opp open, this is right? We should fold to 11/10 reg open before us with this short stack mp?

I'm not sure if this goes here or not, but I have some questions about double-or-nothing sngs.
1. Are the 6 man DONs lower variance than standard 6 man sngs or even 9 man sngs??
2. What is the recommended buyins for 6-man DONs??
3. What would be considered an aggressive brm strategy for these games?
4. Which sites have good videos for DONs?? DC, CR??

Similar questions myself,

How many buy-ins would you suggest for $7 Fifty50s?
Also what is a good ROI for winners at these stakes?
Is there a training site that covers these?

I am trying to understand the concept of ICM and one of the problems I encountered is that I understand how to use the ICM to develop calling ranges but how do I know if my shoving ranges are profitable under ICM and how to calculate/create ranges based on the assumptions of opponent's calling ranges, stack sizes,etc. ?

Look at the detail view and try to do the math for an example yourself.

Is anyone making money pre rakeback at FTP 6 max superturbos? The rake is higher than pokerstars, and the games have a 10bb starting stack compares to PS's 25bb. Unfortunatley I havn't found a reg on sharkscope that has opted in so I cant find any reasonable sample sizes and roi's, but it seems to me that it would be very hard to do much more than 1% roi in these games.

Can anyone help me out with this, I'm trying to decide whether to play Super Turbos Vs Hyper Turbos. (6max) I know the structures are different, but I was under the impression that the Hypers at Stars, you had more edge due to 25 BB vs 10 BB starting stacks, someone was telling me how the Stars structure was a lot faster than the FTP ones.

Also I'd like to know just attainable ROI for both sites, approximations: ( I know there is sharkscope but you cant filter without membership =( ). Looking for mostly 7s,15s,30s Stars vs the 10s,20,35s of FTP.

Thank you

Hi guys,

First of all, i'm not new to poker. (Played for over years and years now) I've just started playing again after a rough IRL time. My brother passed away, and not very long after that, my dad passed away also. Those experiences caused me to NOT play at all. But after some time it's time to pick up poker again, because it's still and always will be a nice game. For 2013 i set my mind to NOT tilt because of some variance, and just be a good poker player. That means: Play as you should, not tilt, and don't scream in front of your computer if you get 2-outered again, or what ever.

So far so good! I got my first 50 SNG's in allready, on FTP. It feels good to play again Luck is not on my side, as it was before, but i managed to not care about it. Which i feel pretty good about. Back in the days i would go to bed with a bad feeling, and now i just don't care, because poker. Still i wanted to share you guys my stats abit. Just to receive some comments on that, as far as you guys can comment on it. Or just wish me luck for the next few games LOL :P

I don't think i need to post some of the hands because it's all pretty std. Just need my luckbox back instead of being punished all the time. Cheers guys!

Hi everyone,

I am wanting to try and improve my STT/SnG/MTT play in small stakes <$5 buy-in.

I am reading DS's The Theory of Poker and have read Volume 1 of Harrington on Hold'em but while these are very good, it would seem that online play is often a lot different to the scenarios/examples provided in these books.

I'm trying to find books here that specifically deal with online STT/SnG/MTT but can't seem to see where such reading material is listed? I have seen a FAQ here with a bunch of links but many of those use terminology that I'm not accustomed to - are there any books/other reading material that would be suitable for an absolute beginner?

Also I read a lot about HUD and other software - is this absolutely critical for a beginner player? Are there legalities surrounding their use?

Thanks everyone.

Nothing illegal about using a HUD (a few specific sites do not allow them afaik, though never heard of them enforcing either)

Theory of Poker is a great book, unlike many books which kind of just tell you do to XYZ ToP actually attempts to teach you how to think about poker hands It is a boring read perhaps, but I would read it and read it again =p Harrington's book are very outdated, not worth reading imo

Check out the poker subforum, there are definitely a decent amount of books related to online play / today's games. In all likelihood someone has even asked the same question before and you will have your answer

Edit: Somehow lost my intro in trying to fix my hh.

I've been lurking and reading for a couple months and just started playing about a month ago. Should I be posting my hand histories in here as a beginner or making my own threads? Looking forward to improving my game with you guys.

In this hand it was only the third time I had been active in the last 24 rotations and the first time I had raised pre. CO was running 79/33 at this point calling raises with 92s etc and seeing 50% of showdowns. My thinking here was that he would call with trash and I had seen him calling all ins on the flop with nothing and a prayer. He seemed to believe every raise was a bluff. And to be honest part of the reason for the all-in on the flop is being uncomfortable at this stack size.

This next hand SB is 27/0 over 23 hands. These min raises from a passive usually seem to me to mean villain caught nothing or middle/bottom pair. The raise on the end has me confused and obviously i thought it was a last ditch bluff. Reviewing the hand now I feel if I had raised pre it would have made the situation clearer but given checking the BB should I have played any other spot less passively?

Because I'm ******ed obviously. At the time I guess I wanted him to call with air. So I guess it wasn't really a bluff. I had seen him call an all-in on a flop he missed. I hadn't had a decent hand the whole game and may have been a little over eager to make something from nothing. In retrospect it does seem like a coin-flipping donk move.

Couple of quick questions - how often do "good" tourney players typically finish ITM at any given tournament? I'm struggling in the pre-bubble period and often bust out "forced" to shove for survival. Or get myself in trouble early on and get bad beat out of the tournament (or strike a bit of luck which gives me enough in chips to finish just ITM).

Next question - sorry I can't find the hand even in my hand history but I called a standard pre-raise flop with AQ tonight and flopped Q x x - I made a half pot bet with 2 others in the pot. 1 fold and then a big stack put me all-in.

I insta-called (probably as I was getting very short in my stack and at this stage a fold would have left me with 500 chips - I think the fact my cards were cold made me call without thinking too).

He turns over AA and turn and river are blanks.

Could/should I have played this any different? Any insights would be appreciated, thanks!

For starters ITM depends on the gametype and speed. I play regular speed 9 mans and the ITM for that is around high 30s to low 40s%.

You generally should get a lot of 3rd places, 1sts and less 2nds than 1st place finishes.

In general the hand looks standard at the flop, but, I need to see some sort of hand history prior to give you an exact answer. Perhaps save your hands and post them via a converter.

Alright. Declining rates of win on SS. Coupled with a very basic understanding of ICM drove me to MTT's years ago. I recently decided to learn cash and use 2+2.

Now that ftp has introduced new to the game I have decided to play 75 NTTG stts there. I will review every game and hope to get some of your regulars to make some comments on my games. So first question. Keep posting in here or start threads?

Whatever way you prefer to learn. Eventually you should end up watching videos.

If you want to know about what way to start out you need to tell what format, speed etc. pp you want to play.
