I'm jealous I don't live in Nevada so I can play on UP only because Dax seems efficient and I like his respones, its a breath of fresh air and a reminder of how easy it is to be the 2+2 rep (cough, shane, cough)

No idea. One of the official reps stated that verification requests are given priority in the CS queue.

It's quite clear that Nevada is one of the few states that require your personal information be encrypted during transmission of personal data.

I'm not an attorney but email requests to verify U.S. poker players is unacceptable and needs clarification within Nevada law and should be addressed after this 30 day trial.

As I read it though, it states that any data collector, which would also include your email provider/ISP is collecting your data and not allowed to transfer personal information through electronic transmission unless encrypted.

Actually email is one of the worst way's to share ID and personal data so we're heading in the direction of offshore gaming unfortunately if this is allowed.

Why can't you just go to one of the many Station Casinos locations IN PERSON and get your ID verified?

Is this site associated with ultimate bet? Its a long thread and I have heard rumors no offence to anyone associated with the site by that question. Either way its an odd name to pick.

Ultimate Poker uses Iovation software for ID checks (IIRC). Greg Pierson, of UB infamy, is the CEO of Iovation. UP has stated that Iovation is uninvolved in the daily operation of the site and of course UP is actually licensed and regulated in the U.S., so I feel fairly confident in the site's integrity.

Still, it's unquestionable that the utilization of Iovation is to some degree damaging to UP's image, so I hope, in the near future, they seek and find alternative methods of verification.

If Ultimate Poker was called something without "Ultimate" in the name, and was not affiliated with Iovation, then there would be no one at all concerned about this. These conversations wouldn't even be taking place. Of course, "Ultimate" may very well come from the "Ultimate" in UFC (IDR), so that's excusable. Greg Pierson needs to have his hand chopped off and removed from the cookie jar, IMO, before my outlook on Ultimate Poker will be 100% positive.

This is what Verizon says on their website about LBS. To me it sounds like is it possible this is a setting issue on peoples phones or maybe we just need an app to allow to verify our location.. It doesnt semm for one minute Verizon is blocking anything. I use LBS on my Android all the time for some apps obviously including Verizon Navigator and such so there has to be a solution to this issue somewhere in the middle.

Wireless Location Based Services

Your wireless device can determine its (and your) physical, geographical location (“Location Information”) and can associate Location Information with other data. Additionally, certain applications, services and programs are capable of accessing, collecting, storing and using Location Information and disclosing Location Information to others. You should use caution when determining whether or not Location Information should be made available to others and you should review any applicable third party privacy policies before providing access. To limit potential unauthorized access to your Location Information, Verizon Wireless offers various mechanisms and settings to manage access to location data. By enabling location settings you are permitting third party access to Location Information through software, widgets or peripheral components you choose to download, add or attach to your wireless device or through web access, messaging capabilities or other means and you are authorizing Verizon Wireless to collect, use and disclose your Location Information as appropriate to provide you with any location services that you enabled.

Also I found this link that apparently allows people to enable LBS via their acct whether this solves this issue with UP I dont know yet as Im not in NV at the moment but in AZ.. http://support.verizonwireless.com/c....html?id=15864

Would it be easier for UP to just make a phone app for iPhone, and Android that verifies age an identify?

I'm not an app programmer, so I apologize if it would take a monumental effort to just to do a phone app. Just seems like people pop them out really quickly.

I was having problems sending or receiving short code SMS, verified phone with long code SMS. Called T-Mobile on Wednesday to enquire about the problem and they confirmed short code SMS was not blocked on my phone but was acting as if it was for some reason. They passed it on to engineers and said they would have it fixed within 72 hours. Bingo Friday morning and short code SMS now working. So worth calling your carrier if you have had this problem as it can be resolved.

I think the biggest problem is that not everyone has a smart phone to do this. It's bad enough that you have to have a mobile at all. I was willing to go out and buy a cheap $15 throw away, but that's as far as I'm willing to go with that.

My Verizon phone does not work so rather than wait I simply went to Smiths Supermarket they sell PrePaid ATT phones for $10 and a $15 minutes card. Was up and running on UP in minutes!

UP seems to be broken this morning. Failed to verify despite multiple attempts.

I'm not a lawyer, so please don't take this as a company line or official statement, but my quick read of 603A.215 seems to indicate that this only applies if we're sending information to a customer, not the other way around.

We do encrypt *our* data, and it seems as if we're only liable for breaches if we weren't in compliance with 603A.215 or in the cases of gross negligence.

The only gross negligence in this office is my strategy in open face chinese.

We encrypt using AES256 for all SSH based communication.

The application the cage members have (intentionally) does not have access to many functions that our normal support members have, including the ability to upload your ID to the system.

We are considering how to implement this feature, but for the time being, you'll have to send your ID to us.

No offense taken.

No association with UB.

We did make another change at 5:30 AM this morning, but it should be for the better - we've (yet again) gotten the LBS provider to increase their timeout to 20 seconds. This *should* cover 99%+ of our customers now. They'll have more data for us shortly.

If you're on a supported cell phone provider and can't be location verified, congratulations, you're in the 1%. :|

We're getting there, a tenth of a percent at a time.

This really should be done soon. People really should not EVER email (unencrypted) their personal ident information, and UP should not be asking this of their customers. Everyone should know that emailing this information is not secure.

Do you guys have any plans to add some higher stakes and/or heads up tables?

Yeah. Slowly, though, as the population grows. We're liking the way the games are right now, so we don't want to fiddle with it too much until we're big enough to support those games.
05-10-2013 , 01:49 PM
If I send in my ID today will I be ok to open an account when I get there tomorrow. Or does the acct have to be opened first?
05-10-2013 , 01:55 PM
when are 100bb games going to show up? when will the software be updated to allow waiting lists and a "automatically wait for the big blind" button? any plans to get the software faster so it doesn't lag so much?

for the traffic patterns, it seems to game selection and sizing is fair right now.

but we're gonna need more choices in the future... probably sooner than you might think.
