OMG SO INSANE!

cool story bro.

That's so sick

We believe she typed that to you...
We don't necessarily believe her story though, and even a screen grap from her doesn't prove anything.

Allow me, please, to try to clear up some of the confusion regarding locating players in Nevada and the buffer zone.

As many of you have posted ITT, there are some pretty strong reasons why we can accept play only from people inside the borders of the state. In addition, because we're first, we feel that we have an obligation to really get this right. Part of what we're doing is demonstrating that legal U.S. online poker IS possible. Geographic restrictions can be honored, underage play can be prevented, player funds are safe, etc. By doing a good job at these things, it increases the chances that concerns will be addressed for the industry as a whole and online poker in this country will grow.

So that means we have intentionally chosen to err on the conservative side in just about every way possible. Yes, it's frustrating for players when they have to jump through extra hoops to verify their age, name, and address, and we're sorry. The benefit is that we have one of the strongest KYC operations I've ever seen, which protects the players and the integrity of the site.

Location verification is similar. We use multiple methods to verify that players are in Nevada when they play. If those methods produce conflicting conclusions, we take the conservative route and disallow wagering. We're literally working around the clock to improve the results. We took a big step forward on Monday, less than a week after launch, which has helped some of you get online more reliably.

We are constrained by the capabilities of the geolocation methods, none of which are perfectly accurate. One approach we're taking is to combine multiple methods. Another is the buffer zone.

I created the 1.5km (not mile) buffer zone. I chose that distance based on the theoretical accuracy of the various location services we're using. I fully expect to be able to reduce that distance as we turn that theoretical information into actual, empirical data. And we haven't stopped for one minute investigating other approaches that may allow us to include more players.

Will we ever be able to get rid of the buffer zone entirely? Probably not. But the LAST thing we want to do is prevent legitimate customers, in Nevada, from playing on Ultimate Poker.

What hoops do you require for this along with process?

Chris,
Welcome to the jungle.
Stations sportsbook online wagering has the capability (through Cox cable only) to locate a cox customer without outside means. Will UP be investigating this method of geo-location down the road?

I believe they are required by the commission to use two methods of location verification
05-09-2013 , 04:44 AM
when they will accept EU players?

This is a time long overdue and congrats to you Ultimate for putting U.S. online poker on the map, in a legal, safe way. So glad my money is going where it should go, in the US, in the local economy.
On another note, just made my first withdrawal by check. It took 3 business days...wow, now that is awesome. Last online experience was Lock poker, it took 8 weeks after western union fees from who knows where. What a difference a day makes.
So all in all, I think it's a great start and I'm sure it's only going to get better.

does that mean sooner or later u will allow us to get some kind of GPS tracking device for those of us unable to show up with a NV isp any other way? i still cant get online in Jean and verizon cant give me a NV isp on my laptop here, they think id get one in vegas, but i fear i still wont. id have to be smack in the middle of NV to be 100% sure.

also, this is a big annoyance, u are in the USA, not Europe, no one here is familiar with kilometers or knows how to translate that into miles. please say how many miles that buffer is, and STOP referring to it in kilometers. u cant possibly be from the USA. a lot of readers would really appreciate this.

1 mile= 1.6km.

So 1.5km is about .091 miles.

1.5km = .91 miles. Just under 1 mile.

I deposited money without realizing there was a problem with Verizon. Of course now, to withdraw the money that I cannot play with (because of cell verification), I need to have my cell verified.

Hopefully I can have the money refunded? Can someone from UP comment?

Thanks..

I'm flying in on Saturday from Canada to grind for a week. Should I send in my ID and open an account from here or will I be ok to do it there?

All the negative players are simply long term losers at what they do day in day out. I live in Texas and licking my chops having legal online poker in the USA. Even though i do not get to play yet i am excited. It can only get better which i am 100% sure it will.

UP.. i've emailed support and player care days ago to request the amount of rake i've already paid to get paid back for my windows 7. I've submitted my receipt last night because i think i've might have played enough to get my $108 back. I've gotten no response yet. Also, any idea when you will be adding 100bb NL games? Thank you and keep up the good work.

Please set up your account before you get to Las Vegas. Being a Canadian might cause more issues, please have a scan of your passport and ready to email to support.

To clarify my esteemed colleague's comment, you'll want to e-mail a scan of your passport and proof of address to idverification@ultimatepoker.com - that's the priority queue specifically set up for ID/address verification. Obviously the support team is still buried in e-mails, but this is the item that support are currently prioritizing.

If you're referring to the Iovation thread I don't think this is the case at all. I think anyone but a complete **** would wish all of you the best and hopes UP is a big success.

I don't think there's anything shady about them at all, other than that unfortunately they're using a service provider where 3 co-founders/owners were previously co-founders/owners of U;timateBet. How would you expect the poker community to react to that?

That being said, I wish UP all the best, just wish they'd make better friends.
