i'll be heading down saturday. Any idea if PLO will run?
04-24-2009 , 06:37 PM
I dont think it will run for a few more weeks from what I hear

does anyone know why Showboat has the rule that u cant raise blind when ur under the gun until the cards actually are dealt out. The action is on you first so theres really no reason i can think of for them to dis-allow it.

I do this alot lol and in all seriousness i tend to get monster hands when i do this :_))))
04-27-2009 , 04:24 AM
I've never heard of that happening at the Boat

In fact, I've seen it happen almost every time I've played there, who said you cant?
04-27-2009 , 05:00 AM
Several dealers said it was against showboat rules to bet in the dark, even if ur under the gun. they acknowledged it made no sense but they still got mad when i tried to do it
04-27-2009 , 10:41 AM
It's definitely not against the rules to bet in the dark, whoever said it was might have been thinking of the fact that straddling is illegal in the state of NJ

They may have thought something along those lines, but rest assured that betting and/or checking in the dark is more than legal at the Boat and a lot of times welcomed as it incites action which builds pots, which in turn would hopefully mean a bigger tip for the dealer

Keep doing your thing and if it becomes an issue again, double check with a floor manager as I know they would allow it

They do this because of the bad beat jackpot.

I was told by one of my managers that a blind raise that is put out before the last card is dealt to the dealer button could in fact negate the jackpot should one occur.

When the bad beat jackpot is being reviewed by surveillance, they look for any discrepancies or things that just look "weird" to them. If they see a blind raise before the cards are completely dealt, it may look like a straddle to them.

Don't get me wrong, you can still raise blind, just make sure to wait for that last card to be dealt. That way you might save yourself from a REALLY bad beat...

Just a FYI,

Sorry to all those who have asked me questions or posted to me the past few weeks and I haven't responded. I just switched shifts from 9AM shifts to 1AM shifts and getting used to it has been pretty hard, so I have been catching up on sleeping (well, as much as I can during the day, anyway..) I'll be sure to reply to everyone soon.

Hope all is well, and the bad beat is now over $115,000. Go for it!

Just got back from donating $900 at the 1-2 tables...

Was nice to see Rod and Elena for the first time in a while - I've been leaving before their shifts started (and perhaps should have again tonight).

I was at the boat last saturday for the first time in a long time on a weekend since I work weekends and usually only get down during the week. But with the nice weather, I decided that I would take off from work and head down with my gf so that she could lay on the beach like she wanted to and I could hit up the poker room for a while. First off, i have to mention that I DO NOT LIKE SITTING WITH THE WEEKEND REGULARS at the same 1/2 table while they are waiting for the 2/5 or 5/5 game to start. I got seated at a table with two of them and they were happily chatting it up across the table from each other and it was like a oprah winfrey show. Not for nothing guys, but if you two wanna yell at each other from across the table, do it somewhere else, some of us are there to play poker. The one reg, who bragged about beating up the game earlier, was terrible from what I saw. I watched him table q6o when someone flopped 2 pair on a 5 8 9 flop and he called down to hit a miracle 7 on the river and ended up chopping the pot with another guy who had pocket 6's. Then i watched him call a 17$ raise with A8o and outflop a guy who had AK. Then a hand where he lost about 150 when he called a 12$ raise OOP with 24o. Flop came 357 rainbow. Reg bets out for 20, gets called by BTN. Turn is a 6. Reg bets out for 40, BTN moves all in, Reg calls. River is 5 and BTN flips over 5 7 for a full house. Reg gets all flustered and leaves the table after that hand to go play 2.5 Sorry buddy, but if your calling OOP raises with 24o your bound to lose, even if you do let lucky. I guess I shouldnt complain though since I didnt do too bad and won 600+ for my trip all in poker. I wish I had more time to play with these "regs" who claim they are so good on the weekends. One other beef I had this weekend was getting jumped on the list for a seat by another reg. There were two names on the list, two seats had just opened up one game, naturallly, i hear the dealer call for 2 seats and jump up and start to walk toward the table since no one was at the podium. When I get to the table, I notice the other guy who was in front of me on the list sitting down, the other open seat has a card in front of it so I tell the dealer I am next on the list, she says to see the floor. I walk over to the podium and talk to yessica, she says hold on she is busy. I talk to another guy, i forget his name, he walks over to the seat, looks at the card, and then says "oh i forgot to put his name on the list" I want to call BS because this guy didnt even walk up to the podium, I was already waiting about minutes for a seat and this guy wasnt anywhere to be found, I didnt feel like arguing since I know I cant win against the floor and regs there.

Just a note to the people who were complaining about getting $25 slot credit instead of $20 cash (hadn't read the thread for awhile). Cash is definately more convenient, but the slot credit is +EV. Just run it once through a Jacks or Better Video Poker machine and on average you should get more than $24 back. Of course you could lose it all, but you could win more than your $25. But you came to town to gamble, right?

Is the bad beat jackpot only quads beating quads or is it losing with Ace full of jacks or better?
04-29-2009 , 08:50 AM
quads over quads

There are DEF. some soft spots in the "REGULAR" 5/5 game, there's just no reason to put more$$ at risk when you can probably make a better hourly just running goot @ 1/2 on weekends there...
BTW rod, did you get it turned around, and get the april ## into the black b4 tomorrow??

Dear JAX (Rod if you don't know who this is please PM me so I can have you alert them to this post),

On the way home from an outstanding winning session, is it bad Karma to hit an Opossum that is in the middle of your lane on the AC Expressway? If so, should I do some volunteer work this week so I don't run like Crap next Wednesday?

Chuck
