2 non poker Showboat questions (both are bachelor party related)

1.) How is the beach directly in front of the casino? I have only hung out in the sand in AC in the mid-boardwalk area (Caesars/Bally's). We are mostly interested in lounging on a beach towel, inconspicuously drinking booze from a Coke bottle, and people watching.

2.) How are the House of Blues suites? There will be 4 of us - is there sleeping space for 4 adults in these rooms? Are they big and balla? I don't mind spending the $600/night as long as it's worth it.

1) seems like a chilling spot, see a lot of people out there in the summer...idk if you can drink on the beach tho.

2) I heard they are awesome, but obviously never been in one.

The beach that I can see from the break area is pretty horrible right now IMO. Lots of shells, rocks, and probably glass too. I assume this gets cleaned before Memorial Day weekend. It was even that way in Ventnor a few weeks back when we had that 90 degree weekend.

Agreed. Also, there isn't much of a "beach" in this area either. Half the time the waves are almost to the sand dunes. I do see people surfing in this area from the break room, but I usually don't see many people on the beach.

I am already starting to get exciting about my annual 3 day Memorial Day Weekend trip. Will be there Saturday/Sunday/Monday - staying outside of town due to my inability to pay $400/night for a regular Showboat room...

I am planning on being down there this weekend to play some 1-2 NL. I'll probably arrive on Friday night and will stay through Sunday. Hopefully the bad beat jackpot won't hit so there will be good games. Of course, if it decided to hit on my table, I'd be okay with that.

Just go to expedia.com and that will give you an idea of the price. I will be down there from Monday through Friday probably. I hope to see everyone there.

You should go to Orbitz, put in Atlantic City for hotels, and see what's available in Absecon. One quick search I had said the Travelodge there was $35...At $35 on a Saturday, I am not sure it's the type of place you'd want to stay at, though.

go to the irish pub and inne (google it). Cheapest room on the boardwalk during the summer, though if you like things like AC, TV, you may want to stay somewhere else.

The problem with Absecon is that you have to have a car. If you don't then you have to figure the price of a cab into the cost of your room. For people who don't have cars staying in Absecon may not be worth the inconvenience.

How bad is parking, i do have a car, i plan on driving back & forth from Absecon when i visit AC this summer, im from SC by the way, planning on a trip sometime in July, any feedback would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

You're looking at $5 to park everyday. However you could use the surface lot at Showboat and just hope your day is the day the exit is unmanned meaning free parking.

TEKEE,

If you get a Total Rewards Gold Card (the entry level card), the parking will be a maximum of $5 at the Showboat. Even without the Gold Card, parking is usually only $10, though there was one time last summer where they were charging $20 (oftentimes the sign in the front says $20, but they don't actually charge that much). Moreover, if you earn 25 reward credits (which is 15 minutes of 1-2 NL poker, basically), you qualify for a free parking voucher. You can either use the next day for free parking or you can submit the voucher with your receipt to get your $5 back.

As someone else said, the surface lot oftentimes has nobody stationed there and you can frequently park there for nothing. Given that you can get the $5 back after earning 25 reward credits, it doesn't seem worthwhile to me.

I have never had a problem parking in Atlantic City, and I was there last year on Memorial Day Weekend and July 4 weekend. If anything, because of the economy, it will probably be less crowded this year.

Just make sure you ask for a parking voucher from the supervisor because the credit doesn't go into your account for 24hrs. They wont mind.
05-15-2009 , 10:47 AM
Or just be a balla Platinum or better card holder
05-15-2009 , 10:48 AM
Rod,

I never knew you could get the parking voucher from the poker supervisor even if it didn't register in the comp system. Good tip!
