Get started, that is why we are here...please don't come here and say that we suck and don't give me chance to try and fix it please. Like always we (Me and Mike) are doing our best.

You know what, i do respect what you guys are doing here, but it seems that the same problems exsist, ie: poor coustomer service, poor game selection, poor game limits. It's either 2/4LHE or 1/2NLHE, yes i heard on Sat. you actually had a 2/5 game going...alert the media.

Why are the Borg's tourny better...ok
1. Huge turn outs
2. 3 times a week guarantee prise pools 15k/15k/50k
3. They usually have a cool attraction tourny..like now they have the SUPER SURVIVOR TOURNAMENT & acompaning satallites. (and like the deep stack they just ran)
4. Their tourny's have dedicated floor people that just run the tourny..and actually pay attention..like fillling empty seats
5. Their tourny's have ante's like a real tourny should..have you ever played a WPT or WSOP event(circut or not) and not had ante's ??

What do you guy's have 2 maybe 3 of you "BIG" $250.00 buyin tournys a year..wow.

Yes it seems like you and Mike do care, maybe it should be you two running the room and things would get done, like i said in a previous post in this thread..the Showboat was my poker home for many, many years I was a loyal patron..and then things slowly went to **** over there...this started 6-8 months ago IMO...i just gave up and went to where, I got good service, good games, good limits.
I also see a few of your dealers (i forget the names) are now at Harrah's...their rooms is actually pretty good now.

Maybe it's time you guy's see what the Showboat really is...a second rate room anymore..and just move on to greener pastures where you'll probably make more and have a more brighter future..Borg dealers make BANK .

Sorry if this is harsh..but asked..so I just spoke my mind.

I was kinda hoping you would have mentioned something that we could actually make a difference with. Borgata does very well on the floor (the table games) which allows them to spend money in the poker room. You know when the last time they put money into the room was? When the felt got so disgusting that we had to complain every day till they changed them.

I know why Borgata's tourneys are better, cause they spend a ******ed amount of money on the room because they care about image. What image is there to uphold at the SB?

I don't think you were harsh btw, but you don't think I know Borgata dealers make good money? I got offered a job there last winter. You don't understand how this business works from a dealers standpoint so please don't offer me advice as to where I will make the most money, because frankly Borgata is not it. Not for 3 years it's not, and if I am still working in AC in three years let me know that I shoulda had a V8. I don't leave here because I love the people I work with (not always for =) but they are starting to realize that things were going backwards), you have to understand that Harrahs ET has been talked about in the same sentence as Bankruptcy on this forum and probably in the papers. They are making cuts everywhere. Poker doesn't make them any money so they will continue to cut.

Showboat is not Borgata and we don't have the same clientele as far as tourney's go. I mean all the fish love our tourneys cause the feel like they have a big stack all the time. I am sure Boragta has ton's of fish in their tourneys too, but all the better players are playing there on Weds and Fri. You can't beat our Sat tourney as far as fish go.

I thank you for offering up your issues with the room, but I don't think as far as tourney's go it is ever going to change. Oh! About the bigger buy in tourneys, we were and are still so short staffed that we cannot run one and cash games at the same time...

For the floor people, I will talk their ear off about this like I always do but some people just don't want to change.

I have said this before and will say it again, there is no excuse for them not asking you if you need help at the BACK podium where they are very busy running a poker room, not seating people. The way the room was planned out is a major player in this. The podium facing the inside of the poker room where all of you go to get seats is not where you are suppose to go. It is the one facing the bar. I have asked them to turn it around, but as usual...nope!

The floors that are back there are back there because they are figuring out who's out who is replacing them where they are going, oh **** the blinds are going up, what you want to know how many credits you have? Do I have a spot yet (dealer)? And so on! If you wanna get seated to to the podium facing the bar. If it was switched, this whole problem would be alleviated, or rarely happen. But apparently that costs money...

Borgata is a much, much bigger and better casino with a much different clientele then Showboat. It is better run from the top on down - I even saw the poker room manager of Borgata post on 2+2 saying how the upper management loves poker. I wish I could remember what thread that was in.

Comparing the two is nonsense. As for game selection...Showboat spreads the same games it's been spreading for years. It's always been a 1/2 NL and 2/4 LHE room with the occasional 2/5 NL or 3/6 LHE. It's not like 6-8 months ago they were spreading 2/5 NL everyday. The weekend 5/5 NL was always propped up by the five people who played it every single week without fail.

I'll just come out with it and say I'm a showboat dealer too. I'm not terribly fond of the way things turned out for the new room, but hopefully we can turn it around.

P.S. Borgata dealers make money in cash games but you have to deal tournaments for god knows how long. I'd rather get a job at Caesars.

I think a lot of people understand this, but from my experience (and I stopped going to the boat a while ago) there often isn't even anyone on that side. This forces the players to track down the floor guys that are busy doing their job.

ahhh...well I can't fix the staffing issue. We just got two new supervisors, and they actually know what they are doing. Linda and Eddie, YAY!

i love the boat despite the hard time it is going through. The dealers are who you spend the most time with and they are still the cream of the crop imho. have faith guys.

Seriously though, if that happens to you, the next time you go out for a burger, you go to Burger King instead. So this guy is pointing out that next time he'll go to the Taj. This is good feedback that the Showboat management needs to hear. Too bad they don't seem as interested in hearing it or doing anything about it as Mike and Rod are. They're wasting a great opportunity to have an excellent poker room. There are other rooms that are doing this stuff right.
is that really the equivalent? i think its a big stretch. but hey, if you find something that small so bothersome that you dont want to play at the 'boat, that's your call. i have no problem walking an extra 2 feet to the other side to say "1/2".

Hey guys ... Just an FYI if you need a Bad Beat total update, call 609-343-4686 and choose option 3 ... It's usually updated on a daily basis in the early afternoon, but if by chance it's not, you can choose the option to connect to the poker room and ask whomever answers the phone

I also heard from Dave Urie that the Boat is having the next installment on the TPT tournaments on June 20th, 2009 ... So everyone bitching on here that the boat never has any good tournaments can pipe down and put their money where their mouth is lol

Just wanted to give everyone the latest updates I heard on my latest trip to the best poker room in Atlantic City :-)

Love playin' in the Boat's poker room, great views. Like stayin' there also.

The young lady that once managed the room, is she still with the Boat?

She did a good job; easy on the eyes too.

I got $20 cash at Taj yesterday.

I finally had my first winning foray at 2/5 yesterday (in my third attempt) mostly due to a 3-way all-in on the flop where my bottom set finally did not get sucked out on. w00t!

Then headed over to Taj for the 4:15 and went out like a complete bonehead in 7th (5 got paid) shoving my flopped TPNK into someone who was showing a ton of strength and obviously looking to make a bet before he realized I was still in the hand. He, of course, had limped AA.

I just wanna say that the boat's poker staff ran a great room saturday night and was in tip top order there was a wait for 1/2 but I think I saw 1 table not being used the whole night it was just jammed packed there saturday but everyone got seated quickly and the dealers were all great and the staff should get some props when they do a great job.
04-20-2009 , 10:34 PM
i agree i like showboat a lot only thing i don't like is that there isn't as much $2-5 as taj and borgata.. had a good trip the last 2 times i was there.. last time i sat at $1-2 nl with $150 and left with $980 16 hours later lol .. and time b4 that took 4th in the saturday night $180 at 7:00 for about $1,100
04-20-2009 , 10:38 PM
crazy tourny by the way.. gets down to final table i am chip leader with $700k in chips 2nd has like $200k, and i only have about 20 big blinds lol.. all in fest.. needless to say i lost 5 all in pre flop hands: QQ against 99, QQ agaisnt AJ, AK against A10, and AQ against AQ (4 card flush), and the hand i went out in 4th was AK against JJ (door card was K and other 2 were J's) lol.. over $5k for 1st was nice tho with 89 players
