Just asking because for some reason this came up twice this afternoon while playing 1/2:

Why is there a rule that you can't show your cards if heads up?

Did they kill the hand or simply issue a warning?
03-23-2009 , 11:14 PM
Neither. Somebody said they would show one card ("pick one") and both times the dealer said "you can't do that."
03-23-2009 , 11:36 PM
Was it during a tournament?

No, cash game. I mean to say, player 1 wanted to show one of his cards while player 2 was deciding whether to call and was told that was not allowed.

show boat rocks.

i had a great time on thursday night and all day friday ( even though mystery rewards was a 5x! better luck to the next mystery rewards that i have for this sunday )

floor was very helpful, though still the front side of the podium was an unstaffed post just about every time i entered/exited the room.

dealers at the top of their game as always, allison, and the mikes were extra nice. geno the hatchet man helped me out of the 2 PM tourny. hes got a great sense of humor.

thanks for keeping me on the clock both days and now i understand the midnight swipe out then back in. it worked out i got all my time in. im at 3126 t/c now.

ill be back on sunday for sure and perhaps friday as well.

oh and on a side note i lost my pants, but its okay they are safe and sound in the lost and found, security said they were turned in by the hotel maid service ( not sure what the pc way of saying hotel maid service is, sorry ) i left them hanging in my room closet.

BTW, despite losing around $100 there between Sunday and Monday, I enjoyed playing and I am pretty sure my hours did get logged in at what I thought it was supposed to be. And that's with not swiping out (was I supposed to do that or do they just spot me leaving? They didn't really say anything when I gave them my card to play.). This was only my third time playing live against people that aren't my friends and I never saw somebody such the definition of a loose agressive as a couple of guys and somebody so in love with his pair of aces no matter what the kicker or what else is on the board as another one.

We swipe you out eventually so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I was there Friday night for a little bit and when I was getting seated, I got the "Seat so and so on table 10 by the window" with the point of the finger. Is it that hard to walk me to the table? I don't know which friggin' table is #10.

Also, the past few times I've been at the Boat, it's been nittier than usual...people folding to $7 preflop raises...stuff like that.

This stuff, combined with the low amounts of people playing, is why I'm sticking with Harrah's and Borgata when I play.

But, yeah, the dealers are usually pretty cool at the Boat, especially Rod.

I have to agree. The games have gotten super tight during the week.

MM - you really like Harrahs? I guess I've just had multiple sub-par experiences there. Their dealers are horrendous imo.

I've only been there a few times but I didn't have any problems with the dealers.

I guess what I like about Harrahs is that there is pretty much always a 1/2 NL game going and that the players seem to be looser compared to the Boat. Again, based on my few times there (not a huge sample).

All due respect to the Boat, whose dealers as a whole are top top, the 3 best dealers in the City work at Harrah's. Candace and her mom (both of whom also work at Caesar's) are great along with big Mike.

Harrah's DOES have a couple older dealers who aren't the most efficient, but the same can be said for every room in AC. Best TVs, always accurate comps (I know the kinks have been worked out at the Boat), friendly floorpeople, and fantastic food make Harrah's better IMO.

At 1:30AM on Monday morning (Sunday night, whatever you want to call it), Harrah's had 3 2/5NL tables going, all of which had $1500+ stacks(Brag: I covered the table in the main game). Monday morning 10AM they still had 1 2/5 going and it was full until 6pm when I left to do my fantasy baseball draft.

Regarding the 1/2 tables, they're MUCH looser preflop and just as passive postflop. If you avoid running terrible, the games are good. NOBODY is folding K/10 in any position for $7 preflop at Harrah's.

I seriously doubt they're doing it with K/10 or better. At least, not in my past few recent experiences at the boat.

Matty, I'm very glad you're enjoying Harah's, etc.

I do believe this is the ShowBoat poker thread, so please, take you're anti-boat advertising elsewhere..

You fail. I'm not anti-boat. I actually love their dealers (I may have said that once or twice throughout this thread).

The purpose of this thread is for both props and constructive criticism of the room, as the Mikes have done a wonderful job of helping improve the room after people have brought up their issues.

Without complaints by those of us who've either missed out on hours logged in the room or received the old finger-wave from the brush, none of these issues would have been resolved nearly as quickly as they have. Similarly, without the advent of this thread, many 2p2ers may not have been lucky enough to meet either of the Mikes or any other solid dealer at the Boat.

This thread is open to both positive and negative feedback, and I feel that my description of what I like about Harrah's may bring upon improvements to Showboat.
