LOL. I interpret "Midnight" to be "am" and assumed everyone did, but maybe not. I thought people were stupid for telling Ron he was being ambiguous because I thought it was obvious - except that I turned out to be wrong! And after a quick google search....I stand (or sit, rather) corrected.

OVER/UNDER line for how many people show up a day early?

It's not confusing at all:

Midnight marks the beginning and ending of each day in civil time throughout the world. It is the dividing point between one day and another. With 12-hour time notation, most authorities recommend avoiding confusion by using "midnight", "12 midnight", or "12:00 midnight".

Digital clocks and computers commonly display 12 a.m. for midnight. While that phrase may be used practically, it helps to understand that any particular time is actually an instant. The "a.m." shown on clock displays refers to the 12-hour period following the instant of midnight, not to the instant itself. In other words, 11:59 p.m. shows until midnight; at the instant of midnight it changes to 12:00. Simultaneously, the p.m. changes to a.m., though, strictly speaking, a.m. does not apply to the instant of midnight which separates p.m. and a.m. In 24-hour time notation, "0:00" and "0:00:00" refer to midnight at the start of a given date. Some styles, such as ISO 8601, allow 24:00 to refer to the end of a day. Noon is 12:00:00.
One way for a digital clock to show midnight

While computers and digital clocks display "12:00 a.m." and "12:00 p.m.", those notations provide no clear and unambiguous way to distinguish between midnight and noon. It is actually grammatically incorrect to use "a.m." and "p.m." when referring to 12:00. The abbreviation a.m. stands for ante meridiem or before noon and p.m. stands for post meridiem or after noon. Since noon is neither after noon nor before noon, and midnight can equally be twelve hours before and after noon, neither abbreviation is correct (although the length of the error is determined by the smallest unit of time — 12:00:01 p.m. would be correctly notated).

The most common ways to represent these times are, (a) to use a 24-hour clock (0:00 and 12:00, 24:00), (b) to use "12 noon" or "12 midnight", although unless the person is referring to a general time and not a specific day, "12 midnight" is still ambiguous, (c) to specify the time between two successive days or dates (Midnight Saturday/Sunday or Midnight December 14/15), and (d) to use "12:01 a.m." or "11:59 p.m." This final usage is common in the travel industry, especially train and plane schedules, to avoid confusion as to passengers' schedules.

The thirtieth edition of the U.S. Government Style Manual (2008) sections 9.54 and 12.9b recommends the use of "12 a.m." for midnight and "12 p.m." for noon. Some religious calendars continue to begin the day at another time — for example, at dusk in the Hebrew calendar and the Islamic calendar.

By the way, the reason I assumed (incorrectly) originally that the April 10 Midnight freeroll would be Tuesday morning (12:01am) rather than Tuesday night (11:59pm) is that the HR advert in Ante Up Magazine for the freerolls states "APRIL 10 AT 12AM". This is eminently incorrect if the freeroll is indeed Tuesday night (11:59pm) as confirmed by P-Ron. The designation "12am" by normal convention means the midnight at the start of the day, not the midnight at the end of the day.

For more info, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour...n_and_midnight

I expect there will be a lot of players trying to sign up Monday night. I might too, as I still only half believe it won't run until Tuesday night.

I seriously just follow this guy around. His posts never cease to keep me entertained, and for that I thank you.

Other note, who is playing tonight?

I'll be in the afternoon tourney. Don't know how late I'll stay. Who is playing the satellite tourney on Sunday? Any details? Inside skinny? Strategy?

He didn't even understand what a legal raise could be. I was sitting at 1/2 waiting for my 2/5 seat and somebody raised to $10. The next person wanted to reraise and he said it had to be $20. I literally tried with all of my heart to explain how it works but he couldn't get it. Sir, that person raised $8 that means the next person can raise $8 which $8 plus $10 equals $18 not $20. He literally stared at me like I had four heads. The re raiser just told me to let it go cuz he didn't care about 2 bucks either way. He dealt our 2/5 table yesterday and was equally as horrible. I am fine with them promoting from within and he is obviously young and will make mistakes but for the love of everything holy please make sure you know the basics. I already know the answer to my own question but does Hard Rock just throw them in and hope for the best?

I have had to explain this to alot of the "veterans" that have dealt there for years. I haven't seen it lately because I have explained it to all the ones I have seen not understand the rule.

On a daily basis I see dozens of things that would get them written up and/or fired in Vegas or other venues. But management at Hard Rock doesn't care.

Coming to town to visit my parents in late April, and had a few questions about the poker room...I did read the FAQ section, thanks for putting that together !
What is the difference , other than buy in , between the 1/2 and 1/3....I mean can the 1/2 still end up with a decent amount of money on the table?
How is the action Mon-Thursday, are there preferred times during those days for better action?
Thanks

OK scrolled back far enough to see a little conversation on my questions......1/2 has Girlfriends and older nits....no bluffing, 1/3 plays a little more like a juicy 1/2 game.....weird how there's always a lot more 1/2 games going though.
One more question, Is there a lesser expensive tourny during that time , Mon-Thursday, more suited towards a new rec player , who plays small home tournys on occasion ?

I don't think 1-3 plays at all like a juicy 1-2 game. I actually never play 1-3. I'd either play 1-2 or buy in with $300 at 2-5. 2-5 plays juicy as hell if you can find the right table. I had a guy call off $140 all in with 23off suit pre last week at 2-5.

Tampa already funded half the multi-property BBJ in the first place. It gets just as big still.

No, play 1/2 NL.

It doesn't matter how cheap or not cheap it is. All of it comes out of the jackpot drop anyway. If it's cheap, that just means they have more to spend next month.

Alex, you really need to stop jumping tables and ratholing every game buying in for the min, winning a few bucks and moving tables. It's so classless and scummy. Sure, you're a nice dude in person, but you're a bottom feeder in the poker world.
