For those who expressed interest in a study group, I was thinking a meet up in Reno during POG would be ideal. If you are interested, please DM me your number if I don't already have it. I'm going up tomorrow morning and will be there through the main, most likely.

Looks like another very good management move at CC.
Wow, I came here to ask about the O8 games. I've started seeing local TV ads for Cap touting the "new" game, and the room's website has a full page of how to play the game. Yet it sounds like this news was at least seven months old.

Are the games any good? I was at Thunder Valley a few weekends ago. The $4/8 O8 "Interest" list went from three people at 10 a.m. to four when I busted from the tournament (which was about 2:30 p.m.) Who knows if that game ever got going.

By the way, in case someone appreciates this, I asked three different TV dealers if they had ever dealt 2-7 triple draw. None had. One guy had never heard of it. So I suspect I'll be waiting a LONG time before they begin offering a weekly eight-game tourney.

The game goes as I last reported. In addition, an 8-16 is spread on Mondays. It used to start in the evening, then in the mid-afternoon, and as recently as yesterday, one of the hosts said "we will start it as soon as we have nine names"....so a larger game on Monday. Even as I write, a Bravo check shows 1 game with 3 on waitlist, and seven active tables in the room, about to be nine. The games are solid. Two tables most everyday competing for the 900amto100pm bonus money.
Now, as far as TV, they don't really try much to spread any other games. I think Ben has been away at WSOP anyways, but he'll be back soon enough. They do have HORSE sched for the next series. 8-8 100pm. I think 100.00 bi. The 100pm start time makes eminent sense, as the older series started early evening and went to 100am or later.
If you've played mixed games in LV, its quite a bit different.....but, hey...I like that they try. Its not the Orleans on Sunday, but, its OK.

Thanks, Dave.

I just downloaded Bravo Poker, too. Great tool... a little embarrassed that I'd never heard of it until this thread but better late than never.

Visiting from San Diego. Can anyone give me the low down on the poker scene in Sacramento? Specifically Capital Casino, or any other place that spreads limit games. I'm willing to play as big as 50/100 limit and as small as 8/16.

Thanks in advance.

The biggest LHE game in town is 8/16 at Capitol. If you want to play bigger, you have to go to Reno on weekends for 20/40 at Peppermill or go to The Bay.

How long you in town? Grand Sierra in Reno had an event going on. Might be some good games over there this weekend.

It was a sweat. The movers were there Saturday. Just leave it at the cage. Thanks.

Royale just moved to a new location inside a hotel. Not nearly as sketch as it used to be.

For those who have expressed an interest in the study group, please DM me both your email and phone number. I'd like to start this week with the first meeting to get a feel for ability level, leaks, and to discuss format. Thanks.

Also, I am going to be shopping a mixed game to the various card rooms this week. If you would have any interest in playing a game other than HE or O8, respond here so I can gauge interest.

Id like to see some 7 Card Stud games or Badugi! I'm sure Badugi is not ever going to happen but 7CS would be a lot of fun.

What limits/blinds were you considering for the mixed game?

Whatever Sacramento can support. Anywhere from 4-8 to 15-30. It might vary with frequency. WRT to draw games, if people want to play a game that a room can't spread (like Badugi), we could always play it at a home game if there is enough interest.

Absolutely, I think that would be a lot of fun to have a home game of varying types of poker, maybe even a weekly/biweekly game where we vote on the game of choice for the week.

Can anybody give a trip report on the new Casino Royale? According to Bravo it looks like the traffic to the room is about the same. Is anything improved at the new place or is it the same stuff in a different location?

Same stuff different location. I mean, new $5 chips(and new $100s), new felt on the tables, def a new look in general. Nicer, very roomy. First night apparently they got some new blood in a very juicy $1/2 game. But clientele has mostly been the same. Rumor has it a new corporation is taking over tomorrow and working on getting more degens in on the pit side.

Food and stuff is mostly a downgrade when considering price and quality and number of choices.. at least for the time being. There's no asian food which seems like a pretty big leak for a casino.

It's nice though, you at least got to come check it out, especially on a Tuesday. We could use some (more) dead money in the game

Thunder Valley tournaments are the best thing to happen to Sacramento poker since the Lucky Derby started spreading NLHE. Sometimes they can be the worst, though.
