Heard this through the grape vine. Is it true the Stones is creating their own version of Live at the Bike? Lol

Something like that, yes. They are putting in a table with hole card cameras and are supposedly going to do live broadcasts - not sure on what - of cash games and tournament final tables.

Not sure how I feel about it TBH. I feel like it might make bad players play better.

How's the action at Stones Gambling Hall? I'm an hour away and was thinking about going there one day for the first time. I would probably go on a Saturday and play a tournament and some cash.

On their site, I see they'll have a $225 - 20k GTD on Saturday. How many players are there in these/does it fill up? Could I register right when I get there at the starting time? Do they also run some cash games on the side and how big do the $1/2 and/or $2/5 play (min/max and what people usually buy in for)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hey, I just started going to Stone to play their $200 NL.

It's about an hour - to an hour and half away from me, depending where I'm coming from. It's pretty fun though and I do want to give their tournaments a try.

I've played a few tourneys there, including the first one when they opened and the room is super nice. The ones I played, and it has been a while since the last one, have been packed and I had to wait as an alternate for a long time even though I got there over a half hour early. I think there is an option to prebuy online or on the phone or maybe only early in person...butI decided I would do that for sure the next time I go back and I recommend that you look into it yourself, or get there very early, especially if you are making a long drive. It kinda sucks to watch the levels count down while you wait for a dozen or more people to get knocked out.

Game runs every Thursday, we've had a full game with a list every night. Run 4 Thursday's in a row now. Game usually runs 6 or 7 hours right now. Hope to have a second game running soon! Tell your friends!

FYI to mods: Casino Royale went belly up due to gross mismanagement and God only knows how long the court cases will drag on.

What's up!? Not quite sure how to do this so I thought this was the best forum. I play at Thundervalley grinding 1/3$ and I am always looking for people or a group of people to talk poker theory with that I am relatively close to. I am not the best player in the world since i'm grinding the low wonderful stakes of 1/3 but I am always trying to improve my game. I take notes of my play, consistently read and try to study from books i purchase. I never really had a group of people to actually sit down or skype/possibly meet up at a card room and just talk cards with.

Maybe this is a creepy post. I don't know. If you are interested or play cards around the Sac area, hit me up! I look forward to hearing/talking to ya!

Also, as I take a peak at this thread and its many posts. Why in gods earth would you guys play at Capitol. The quality of players are lower, sure. But you risk getting robbed every time you enter/leave that place. Not many people travel to Thunder Valley. I wonder why. There is a nice populace of player there, still crappy players. Tons of action during the weekends. Could someone explain to me why you go to anywhere but Thunder Valley?

Proximity, smoke, players, familiarity, specific game that is running, etc.

I would say Thunder Valley has much better food selection, player base, environment and opportunity. Just as many fish and donks as anywhere. Sure the drive may be longer but if you planned on spending the day somewhere, financially, it seems to be a solid choice. If you were to spend 3-4 hours somewhere, I would probably go to capitol.

It's too far from the population center to be a destination for cash games during the week. It's only a destination for weekends, and for tournaments.

Between Stones and Capitol you can find much better action for cash during the week, with much better food, that's closer to the population center. And no smoke.

I remember telling you something like this a few years back, glad to see you made it to the dark side.

From experience, it's hard to get the good players to talk strat, and the bad players tend to want to be the most helpful, so careful how wide you drag the net, you might end up with a group that brings you down. I suggest doing the old fashioned way, approach the best player that you play with now and make friends. GL

You can't live your life in fear.

Not sure about Stones, but you can leave money on account at Cap or just walk out empty handed like I do.

Stones is where it's at. Great food, safe, clean, competent staff (unlike Thunder) and, yes, super fishy...

I've had plenty of dealer issues at both Stones and Thunder, but Stones is the better place to play IMO.

I've dropped to the 1/2 at Stones. It plays bigger than 1/3 at TV. The variance for me is crazy at the Stones 1/3.
