I drove from Tahoe yesterday to come watch the great Barber in action. Maybe rail him for awhile and possibly get a signed photo, but he never showed up

When is Stones supposed to open? Used to play at LD before TV had poker, but pretty much play at TV exclusively now (occasionally Capital when I'm downtown). Definitely interested to check out Stone though.

Hey Justin

What kinds of cash games are you guys planning on running at Stones? There's a big hole in the market here for games that nobody else can run regularly. Games like PLO, PLO8, HORSE etc don't run anywhere else in town. Are you guys going to fill that void and try to start these games? What about bigger NLHE games? Thunder doesn't seem too interested in maintaining anything above 5/5 (which plays smaller than Capitol's 2/5 does) so I would imagine there's a demand for some bigger weekend action.

PLO8 would be the best thing ever. I can't imagine it being sustainable though.

I don't make it out that way hardly ever, but good to know nonetheless, thanks.

I have mostly been involved with building the tournament program for Stones so I'm not 100% sure on what games they will offer. I do know that a variety of games is important to the Stones management and that they are licensed to spread just about everything. It will most likely come down to the demand from the players. If there is a player base to support these games, I can only imagine that they will consistently spread them.

Is it even worth playing a satellite for the 2pair main?

it's worth it if you play the 50 dollar coin flip variety. everyone all in one hand, winner gets the seat and some extra cash. i believe they plan to run at least one of those tonight. They had a couple regular single tables go off last night, also.

First time to Royale after being told not to bother. Didn't realize it was the old dining room of the hotel. Last time I was here I was eating last meal before heading to basic as this was hotel Army put us in before shipping off. Not sure if they still affiliate here actually. Weird. Anyways, wouldn't come back to play cash. I assume they get 2/5+ at least one night a week?

Here for the main. Guessing this never happened. The 25s look like the 1ks. Especially if you can't distinguish purple very well.

There's a big 2/5/10 or usually 2/5/20 that runs Tuesdays and Wednesdays with no cap.

They had a decent satellite running all week daily at 11am. $80. $5k starting chips and 15 minute levels. Definitely good value if you know how to play satellites. But it's a little too late as the main has started. GL.

Ok so I have talked to quite a few people about this so far and wanted to get the opinion of the forum.

What do you guys think about the $5/$5 game at Thunder Valley? Do you think it has been good for the games or bad for the games?

Here are the current NL options @Thunder

$1/$3: $50-$300
$2/$5: $100-500
$5/$5: $300-$1000
$5/$10: $500-$2500/Table Max

Myself and some others have noticed that ever since the $5/$5 game has started running that it is having a negative effect on the $2/$5 and $5/$10 games, which is disconcerting. I don't think $5/$10 has ran since the WPT back in March! It certainly hasn't ran at all in April.

Lately even the $5/$5 game has struggled a bit, for instance only 1 game ran so far tonight and it's 1:30 am Friday night, which is usually peak hours. The game rarely if ever runs during the week. Meanwhile, Capitol has had 2 2/5 games running all day today, as well as most other days during the weeks over the last couple of months. Capitol's 2/5 game is uncapped, which is a much more attractive option than a $500 cap game thats farther away for most people.

IMO, the $5/$5 is hurting the $2/$5 and the $5/$10, and I think it needs to go. I think they would be better off if they killed the $5/$5 and just changed the buyins for the $2/$5. That way, it would look like this:

$1/$3: $50-$300
$2/$5: $200-$1000
$5/$10: $500-$2500/Table Max

I think this would encourage more people to jump in the $5/$10 rather than settle for $5/$5 (which usually starts earlier and takes on a lot of the action that would otherwise play $5/$10) and would encourage people that are currently playing elsewhere on the weekends (due to a lack of higher stakes action) to start coming back to Thunder on the weekends.

If anybody has any thoughts on the subject I would love to hear it.

I would agree with you completely that the 5/5 has killed the 5/10 and I don't think it is going to return in any sort of regularity anytime soon. I don't think it has hurt the 2/5 much if at all though. Since the 5/5 began being spread the average game quality of the 2/5s has increased imo, as well as the number of games staying the same.
