What kind of ranges are we talking where aces goes down to 15% 5 way? I just played around in equilab and couldn't get anywhere near that low. I was getting like 50% equity. I tried both linear ranges of 10 and 15%, and also tried a range of all pocket pairs and all suited connectors 65+.

First no one said aces specifically fall to 15% or even 20%. There were two related but different posts. One stated aces 5 ways were a dog vs. the field. This is true. Your 50% is five ways is way off. Against 4 different, spread out, suited connectors AA has 32% equity. So aces are a dog against that field.

There were no specific starting hands in the 15% and 20% posts. Just a general comment about the math. Pocket Aces would probably have to go to a family pot with bad luck to have the equity fall to 20%. But aces are not the only hand to have 80% equity against one other hand. A small pair over a small pair has 80% equity, but then facing 3 additional hands of over, suited connectors has its equity fall to 15 to 17% range and is in 4th place statistically pre-flop.

The key is more money in the pot does not necessarily provide improved EV.

Early 2012 they dropped the WPT branding. I suspect that after Black Friday, the WPT decided to push its brand more outside the US.

Did this move affect the poker room in any type of way?

Also I was playing 2-3 nights a week during that time and dont remember any grumblings or rumors about it. Was it a big deal at the time to some players? or the casino as a whole?

I'm seeking information on Foxwoods comped rooms policy. What is the maximum for a 1/2 player player logging rougly 40 hours per week? Does Mohegan have a superior comped rooms structure?

Depends where you live. When I lived in suburban NY I showed up once 2 years ago, played like 4 hours of 1/2 and soon started receiving 2 nights free sun-thu hotel offers every week which I still get to this day. I've since shown up maybe 3-4 times and played 1/2.

I'm assuming their system saw that (1) I lived far enough away where I need a hotel room and (2) wealthy zip code and that's what got me the room offers, clearly not based on play volume since I've barely played at FW.

If your looking for free Hotel rooms, FW has to be the place to play. I live in CT approximately 1 hour away. I stopped in to FW poker room in October last year. I played for about 6 hours after not being there for a few years. I am also getting Sun-Thurs room offers. A $20 food coupon , and some free giveaways, concert tickets etc.
Enjoy!!

Thanks for replies. To clarify there's no resort fees on comped rooms?

Comped rooms have no fees at the ‘woods. Whenever I get a comped room I have to either give a $100 deposit or get a $100 hold on a cc. I always do the cash so I can leave with $$ in the morning. Lol!

Is it possible to be comped 5 weekday rooms per week (excluding exceptions such as holidays, major tourneys, etc) between Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun?

Sure, 3 nights in one place and two at the other place?

My memory is that few players cared one way or the other when the branding started or when it ended. To me, whose label is on the table is irrelevant.

I believe Foxwoods general offer is that at 1/2 exclusively you'll only get 2 nights comped. Your best bet is if you have a buddy who’s also getting 2 free nights, and don't mind sharing a room, is to reserve a room back to back so you both stay 4 nights. 40 hours of 1/2 over 5 days does not stand out as significant to the casino.

Only Diamonds can get more than 2 nights/week.

The branding itself wasn't a big thing, that was just more about marketing that didn't affect the day-to-day too much, but losing the actual annual WPT event was a fairly big deal. That didn't necessarily coincide with the branding, as Foxwoods was on WPT long before that deal, but I believe when the branding deal was dissolved, so went the WPT event.

But yeah as Kurn said, at this time WPT was having to do a lot of re-calibrating.

Maybe with the 30 hour closure of the poker room they'll install USB outlets at the tables. 🤣
