for every 500 times they save money not paying a guy a few cents the 501th guy will be so angry he will never return, and that will cost them back 5000 they wouldve won off him in the next yr or 2. so dumb and so shortsighted of foxwoods.

not only that, he will complain like hell to everyone in his life he knows.

all? i find it hard to believe the 100%+ machines would give the same comp points as the 95% machines.

There are no 100%+ machines. But yes the 99.54% machines pay the same as 95% ones.

Never return? Lol. You can bring the <$1 ticket to the cage and cash it there if you want it so bad.

Whats the coin in amount for a point on a regular slot machine? Is it the same amount as a VP machine?

$140 last I checked (which wasn't recently).

Regarding the slot payout... Assume 10000 tickets go unclaimed daily at $0.5 avg is 5000/day for 365 days is ~$2 million per year. I have no idea if 10k is too high or too low. My guess is close to too low as I recall reading once foxwoods avg 50k patrons/day but not all are slot players nor winners .

Is $2m a year worth it to a property the size of foxwoods? Obv $2m is $2m but strikes me as penny wise and just gives people a bad vibe.

I think those numbers are really high.

A thought experiment:

Base assumptions
1) 50k people a day, 50% play slots
2) slot tickets only occur when amount is an invalid coin in or too small to bother. So on 25k people, assuming 4 average machines, assuming that each play in causes one of these tickets, we're at 100k tickets (this is higher than prior poster's number but used for a purpose)
3) assuming more players play on pennies vs. Dollar machines AND assume 50 cents is the don't care to cash threshold, the average ticket couldn't possibly be close to 50 cents. Assuming some sort of weird ramp down from $1 to 1c gaming, Max each level is 49c, 24c, 9c. BUT the final 1c game can take it all. Assuming you get super pissed you can play all the ways, I'd say you average a 10-20c cash out ticket.

So, using the above numbers:

100k tickets x 25% are kept (final cash out) x 20c = $50 a day.

Yeah - I dont disagree that 50c may be high for obv reasons. But lets not go crazy either until someone starts paying us for analysis though.

The machines at Mohegan aren't much better. I've noticed with those that anything under $10 you are getting ones and nickels instead of 5's and quarters. For example I cashed out 108.75 recently and got back a 100$ bill, 8 ones and .75 cents in nickels. Not quite as bad as making you go to the window for change but still a little annoying.

Lol! I can't even make this up! About three years ago I cashed a ticket at Foxwoods and got a $100 bill, a $5 bill and 75 pennies!! I laughed!

You have to wonder if that's poor programming or a lack of 5s. I hope it's lack of 5s

Trip report (part 1):

4/8 - staying at two trees. 'free room' got me a $60 a night suite. Whatever, it's cheap right?

Well, you get what you pay for. Room are all 'now' smoke free. That's like saying clean used needle. Place smelled like smoke, door frames were gappy, carpet was dirty but bed was surpsingly comfy... Or that by 3am,i don't care any more.

Had two plans yesterday, 1) play in $160 6pm guaranteed and 2) play Jacks or better for points.

$160 felt soft and doubled up early. But by mid game, 50bb stacks were shoving pocket pairs and I just bled down to a forced 9T suited all in around 7bbs.

I then played about 6 hours of video poker 25c maxed (1.25 a spin) with mostly perfect strategy. Unfortunately, $200 wasn't enough to fade variance and I was going home at 3am with my tail between my legs.

I got about 9 points, so figure I was averaging 10 second spins. Not the greatest way to get points but for the chance to win the progressive, it was interesting.

Going to do more live poker today and then the guaranteed tonight.

The only progressive VP left at FW that have a chance at getting over 100% pay back are the eight .25c 3/5/10 play ones in a circle located in the Cedar casino. I seen them pay close to 102% during the MLK holiday weekend of 2013 I believe when the 10 play was paying over 30k total for all 10 reels. Somebody got dealt a pat royal to hit all ten at once too MBN

I forgot about that bank of machines, wasn't even thinking of progressives. It's very rare for those machines to ever go +EV anymore. That's a sweet result though. I only got dealt a pat royal once, but it was on a 10-handed UX machine and had some multipliers up... that was nice.

what does one win for something like that? how much did that net ya?

and is there a reason why foxwoods doesn't do the same kinda room comping that the borg does? those are pretty much the 2 casinos i'd go to and they're equidistant from me (the drive to fw is less trafficy though in general) but with 1 weekend at the borg, i got infinite room comps (other than this weekend, i'm good through july 7th. after i play this weekend there i should be good for even longer, including water club, fri & sat nights, etc.).

i'd like to switch it up and go to fw too since the 40 goes on friday/sat usually and the 20s are so juicy/good i can make close to what i would at borg playing the 'standard' 40 game that goes there.

fw's 20 game can be like 5-6 people for 2 bets quite often whereas at the borg, it's similar to what online would be around 2006. where there's 5-6 people playing decent/solid, 1-2 playing super weak/tight, and then 2-3 "bad" players. but the "bad" players don't really get outta line too much on a regular basis (Depends who they are obv). the fw regs are also so easy to play against, so this is kind of annoying.

i guess there's no chance of them fixing their room comp system? i recall even when i lived 30min north and it was only 1.75hrs for me to drive to fw (playing basically every weekend), i really never got free weekend rooms. i never understood that. aren't they costing themselves LOTS of $ (higher limit poker players are SUPER likely to spend $, play table games, etc.). maybe it's b/c they actually track what i played and saw i never sat at any table game/wasn't frivolous w/ $ and they thus didn't offer me anything?

either way, fw sucks on this account. hopefully there's some new loophole or something as i can see wanting to switch it up shortly

Lack of competition. In AC you have lots of casino/hotels to deal with. Here it's just Foxwoods and Mohegan. And even with 4 hotels, Foxwoods sells out on most weekends. They don't need to give comp rooms away as liberally.

They give comps based on actual play. A high limit poker player will get comps if they actually play these other things, not on the theory that they might.

The glasses are a big improvement. Put them in your cup holder, and give your empties to the waitress?

Played in a tournament Saturday. Ordered a coffee & Bailey's. The glass it came in would not fit in the cupholder. The waitress said liquor must be served in glasses, whether they fit the cupholder or not. To her credit, the next coffee & Bailey's she served me was in a paper cup. She told me not to tell anyone. I told her I wouldn't.
