while the woods has its faults i believe poker players are fairly well treated the comps are generous rooms meals
the game spread is good
perhaps some of the problems lie with the few dbags that frequent the place
if someone is going to the casino with the intent to make everyone around them miserable thats pretty hard for the floor or dealer to police
that said that floor could be more proactive and consistent

I ditched Mohegan for FW for the first time in a couple years this weekend and really enjoyed it, so many more tables it was really nice not having to worry about breaking every hour. The dealers sem to have become very laid back about swearing and talking on the phone and stuff, which is nice but gets annoying when you're at a table with super obnoxious people.

I think it comes down to, people will always complain about the room they're playing in. Every room has great floor people and some who just don't want to work like give me a table change when I ask for one.

All true.
Even though those few jerks tend to drive away more business than they're individually providing, the management sees the reg's every day and doesn't (usually) see or hear from the people whom they're losing. So most casinos and poker rooms are pretty reluctant to drive away regular customers for bad behavior. However, the best-run places do recognize this dynamic and have a lower tolerance for bad actors. From what I've seen, I actually think FW isn't too bad on this scale. (Also, in a well-run place, warnings and ejections are usually done as discreetly as the customer will allow, so they're not always too visible to the other players.)
I think the problem with consistency among floors (and dealers) at FW is real, but it's a natural problem which comes with the room's size. When you run a room with 100 cash tables, plus a separate big tournament area, you have to have so many staff that getting everyone on the same page is simply harder than in a smaller place with fewer floors and dealers. I think FW has actually made some progress on this in the last year, but it could stand more improvement, and I hope they make this a priority.

It is the largest, most active, poker room in the world on a daily basis. Most people from this area are spoiled IMO. Being that this is pretty much the only poker room they have been exposed to. Foxwoods is one of the best poker rooms PERIOD..

There are other great poker rooms like Borgata and Commerce for example, but there are many more rooms that you would choose Foxwoods over. Like someone else said, you have to take the good with the bad. Good being, size, traffic, accommodations, variety, and ACTION. Action is what most players look for in a poker game. A bad, drunk, clueless, obnoxious, or someone who don't give a F**K about money player can drive the game. Don't whine about them or scare them off. Anyone who does is a fool. Bottom line it's good for the game.

For the Bad side, incompetent dealers is a problem. Fluctuating floor rulings are annoying. There is more employees due to the size of the room, but these are things they need to work on and have everyone on the same page. Other than that could use some new chairs and maybe a face lift for a different look.

very well said. And, something I've said for years. Having played at all three venues, plus 100+ others, most of the FXWD players don't know HOW GOOD YOU HAVE IT.

Try playing lower LHE, NLHE at Commerce- you feel like you are in a cattle car. Literally impossible to clean between tables on busy nights. Abject filth.
Bad Dealers? Have you played at any of the dog tracks in Florida?
Rude floor people? I think of Bellagio when I hear this.
Abrupt, uncaring check-in .......like Turning Stone?

So they don't serve food in the room....wow. And its pretty clean for the busiest card room in the world. Get up and go to the 5th St grill for some grub. The food choices at Foxwoods, for a poker player, considering the upstairs proximity, are some of the finest choices anywhere.
Game choices?...how about driving for 30 minutes or so in friggin Kansas just to find there is ...no game. At FXWD one should never wait more than 15 minutes for a game. (now, 15-30 HORSE may take a while)

Call me lucky, since I've played and traveled all over the US. No, I'm not on the poker circuit, just on the Nationwide, LPGA and PGA tours as a p/t caddie.
But I can't agree more with this cited post, that FXWD players are a little bit spoiled, and they don't have a clue about it.

Well, actually, just to be accurate, I think Commerce is somewhat larger and often more active than FW. But FW is certainly in the largest 2 or 3. (And I would NEVER choose to play at Commerce over FW. What a zoo!)
There are some rooms in the US that I do prefer to Foxwoods in certain respects. But overall, I think Foxwoods is pretty good and I'm happy to play there. (And, as I've said, I've played in a bunch of places over the years which make FW look like poker paradise.)

From Commerce site:
"Welcome to Commerce Casino - the world’s largest poker casino located minutes from downtown Los Angeles. Commerce Casino offers non-stop poker action for all skill levels with more than 200 tables featuring about every form of poker...."
From FW site:
" Here you’ll enjoy the most popular poker games in the East Coast’s largest poker room."

FW has about 100 cash tables, plus tournament area. I was under the impression that Commerce was/is largest. Not so?

Fair enough, I've never played in Detroit or LA, but IMO it's hard to imagine a worse run poker room than FW

I think so, but the point is that both of them are really, really big compared to most rooms. (The largest rooms in Las Vegas are only about 40 tables; Venetian = 39, for example.)
And when it comes to Commerce vs. FW, bigger is DEFINITELY not better (at least IMO).... I defy anyone to go and play Commerce for a few days, and then come back and tell us they prefer it to FW....

commerce is bigger for amount of tables, that's it

there's literally nothing else to do there though

I think.....open to exact #'s and clarifications...
Commerce = 200 tables, making it the largest stand alone "poker room" in the world. Poker is played in two different room of the building.

Foxwoods = about 165?tables....100 cash and 65 or so upstairs now in the dedicated MTT area...making it, I believe, the largest casino-based card room in the world.

What casinos have you played in? Also which are better than Foxwoods in your opinion?

Also when I said largest, I was factoring in how active room is between cash and tournies all year around.. IMO Foxwoods is busier.

The best poker room is the one I win in, but if I have to lose I can't think of a better place to play than Foxwoods. That being said found myself in Oklahoma last month and some Indian casino had 1-2 and 2-5 with a $2 rake and a bad beat jackpot. Couldn't figure out how they stayed in business.

Mohegan Sun, Aria and Venetian just to name a few, I haven't put much sample size in so it might be due to thousands of miserable hours, horrible rulings and dealer errors at the wonder of it all...

everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you'll find yourself in a very small % of people who think that Foxwoods is the best poker room period.

Just to be clear, you prefer Mohegan over Foxwoods?

I have played in almost every room in Vegas, Commerce, Bay 101, a few KC riverboats, Mohegan and FW. FW rates just barely above the KC riverboats.

So why would you spend the majority of your time at Foxwoods with them both being right next to each other?
