GOTF, we had the $5 straddle going for a few downs, when we only had asian dealers who just nodded and let us do what we like, then we got a new dealer who called the floor and he called the shift manager, woman, short hair, never smiles, and she nixed it so we had to go back to $4.
Why can't the floor ever agree on anything and be consistent????
Truthfully, the floor is consistant, if asked they would never allow the $5 straddle. Usually it comes about that the table will agree with it, and we will inform players about it as they sit in, if anyone objects, they can/will go to the floor and the floor will make us revert back to $4.
Many times the straddle will come up if we get shorthanded, with 3 players it becomes a button straddle and makes sense for everyone to do it. Even 4 or five handed it picks up the shorthanded action. Once we get closer to a full table, those that had been straddling short will stop it, but it will remain at $5 for anyone that wants to goose the action, until that one person comes and doen not want it any more.
The funny thing is, is that it does help speed up the game a bit, 7 limpers with red chips out on a $4 straddle means change for everyone, $5 just makes it easier, and god forbid someone makes the suggestion of rounding the pot to also speed up the game.
Also comical is when some of the dealer, and floor(s) try to figure out a pot size bet in a bet, raise, re-raise situation when the players at the table can't agree on a number. Not exactly a mensa meeting.
