And to make things worse, they had a HH promo Sunday that wins you $500 in promo chips. You have to go gamble with them in the pit and if you win, you win THAT money, not more on top. You gotta be shitting me….

Yeah no promo drop for this. Not sure what everyone is complaining about since it is effectively free money. They give you 5 100x promo money chips. If don't want the variance of blackjack or craps, then go do a little parlay on the roulette table. Put 200 on black, 200 on red, and 100 on Green. You are guaranteed at least $400 American. I assume that's allowed.

And, regardless, since word about the promo seems to have gotten out, action was so good this afternoon my $1/$3 game that the first time I was about to pick up and leave, a version of myself from the future popped out of a portal, slapped me across the face and said "Conan, where in the heck are you going? Sit the hell back down!"

A poker player got punched in the face by another poker player in the bathroom. Then the puncher went back to his table to keep playing. Lots of extra security showed up in the poker room. Then the state police showed up. The offender was walked to the cage by the state police, and escorted out.

Yeah, this is free money and is much better than taking $1-2 promo drop on every hand and getting cash for high hands.

You are only going to be guaranteed about $230 if you do some kind of roulette parlay as you don't get to keep the promo chips after you bet them and win. You play them once and if you win you win the amount risked in real chips and they take the promo chips. If you lose they simply take the chips as they would a normal bet. Basically, win or lose, they are taking the promo chips from you after the hand. Also, you cannot use these chips on the inside for roullete.

What you would want to do to guarantee yourself cash is put $250 in promo chips on red, $250 in promo chips on black, $10 real chips on single 0 and $10 of real chips on double 00 and hope it comes out green for a $350 hit which would give you a profit of $340. If it lands on red or black you profit $230. This is the best way I have thought of to turn the promo chips into guaranteed cash. Maybe someone else has a better system to guarantee more than $230. If anybody has any better ideas please do share.

That's assuming they allow you to do that. I can't speak to Encore's policy, but there are many casinos that won't let you hedge promo chips. They don't want you to simply cash them out, they want you to gamble with them.

you wouldn't want to hedge anyway

unless you're $200 short on rent just bet the longest odds they allow you to and ride the variance train

You might want to throw a small tip in there or a good dealer and/or floor will stop you from hedging

If you have a trustworthy acquaintance you can hedge bets as a team on the same bankroll.

20% of your entire buy in goes towards rake but the rake is 25% of the entry fee added on top.

$240 tourney is $192 + $48...$48 is 25% added on top of $192

$360 tourney is $288 + $72....$72 is 25% added on top of $288

I don't know how the general public views tourney rake but this sure feels like the rake is 25% on these.

I'm very surprised that Encore is doing this. They've done everything possible to milk as much money out of poker players as possible, and now they decide to cut their revenue by adding tournaments with "only" 25% rake instead of more lucrative cash games. I think this shows that management is incompetent as well as greedy.

The problem is with the ridiculous $10 rake, outside of late Friday night and Saturday night they can't fill the room anymore. I'm writing this on Thursday night at 930pm and they currently only have 18 tables going of the 24 and with nobody arrived at the property on the waitlist of 29 for 1/3nl, I'm sure most if not all 1/3nl tables are playing shorthanded.

I know what you mean by this but, just for the record, online poker is legal in Connecticut: https://www.pokernews.com/news/2021/...oker-39265.htm

No operators have set up a site yet, probably due to the small population of the state. It will likely require some interstate compact to get online poker going in CT.

Depends on the structure. A fast structure and a long rebuy period could be reasonably profitable. Nobody is going to leave the casino after 2 hours, so those people out will move on to cash or more profitable games.

Per dealer at Encore this week, high hand promo is coming back. And yes, that means rake is going up to pay for it.

So are they back to raking $10+$2 to pay for the $1,000 high hands???

Full table buys in 500 each(5k)
Say 20 hands and hour(v conservative)
20 hours later the entire 5k is raked off the table.

If 30 hands an hour, its only 14 hours later the entire 5k is gone.

Math.

They are now taking $10+$1. A dealer claimed the other day to our table that 90 cents on the dollar go toward the bad beat, while the remaining 10 cents go toward high hand promotions.

It's possible they will take an extra $1 during the high hand promotion itself, but that's purely speculation on my part.
