But for most casinos it's not a binary choice. Having a poker room pulls in players that wouldn't otherwise be there, who will occasionally play other games, spend money on food, and *bring their friends/family* with them. So while you theoretically lose some profit by swapping slots for poker tables, you're offsetting that cost be increasing your overall traffic.
When I see my parents and we take a trip to Atlantic City, they play slots and don't particularly care where we go, so I get to make the decision for all of us based on the poker room. Casino with no poker = no business from us.
