I only have bad beat strories from vegas. I went there once for work back in '99. We worked 16-20 per day doing Y2K upgrades for the Denny's corp offices. We had it planned to get done on the last day early and we would have about 24 hours of free time before the plan left for Cali.

About 2 hours from the end of shift on the 4th day, I caught the flu. Spent the next 22 hours curled up in a ball in my hotel room. I managed to play let it ride for about 2 hours before we left for the airport. And I missed the 1 outter for the royal and $35k....

the electric stick Friday night tourney is now a $50 buyin! still had 228 runners. came in 15th. shoved Q4cc on the button holding 160k, bb = 50k. bb had jacks, boooo.

gotta tell you about this guy: he has 44k when blinds are 5k10k. he limps in early position. i shove in mp w/ 70k, back to him, he shows AQ as he folds. i have to say i have AK, even though I have A10. then later he has 14k in the bb, bb is still 10k. two all ins, around to him. he folds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the guy was just trying to fold into the money.

Horrible strategy imo.

That is some ****ty luck Caveman.

I got sick the last time I went to Cali. Pissed me off being in a nice place and having to stay in bed the whole time.

Glad I'm not the only one. Especially when they go to fold, pull there cards back and tank for a couple more minutes. Drives me insane!!

That's the electric stick for you. I've seen people fold hands when more than half their stack is alrdy in the pot when they r on the bb. Friday nights are not worth it, after the second break its all in or fold.

That's the exact reason why I like to min-raise there after the blinds hit 500/1000. Most of the people that play back at you have monsters and it's an easy fold. Otherwise you'll get HU and just out play them.

I'm 100% top 6+ finishes there. i should probably go more often.

(Yeah, yeah. I've only played 2 tourneys there)

Caveman,

Do you like tourneys better or cash?

Which one do you play more?

Also, good morning.

Good morning Gambit.

Tourney's when I'm broke, cash when I have a BR.

However, I will play the bigger buyin touneys when I have a BR too.

But I like tourney's the most. I'm weird.

I like cash the most. I only tend to play tourneys when I am bored and just wanna kill some time.

The only tourney I actually liked was the Snookers $100 buy in on Sundays, but those days are long gone. Plus, there does not seem to be a good tourney in my area.... I do not feel like driving all the way to NVD or ES so I am sol I guess.

ES is 40 mins away, snookers was 30 so I have no excuse. The River might be your best bet.

No degen stories from Vegas from me. I've been there twice, but I was broke both times. Lifetime I'm up on Vegas from $2 blackjack & 3 card poker for like $200 & tons of booze. The 3 card poker machine was pretty sweet--fully automated digitalized from the future. The dealers were life size cgi women in slutty outfits.

much of the play is terrible. there's a huuuuuge prize pool. (1st was $2700 last night) to me those things outweigh the shovefestness.

the RxR tourney will be Feb. 26th. I believe he said it will be every 4th Saturday. They now have 3 2pm Saturday tournies and one dealer told me they are looking to add a 4th.

I'm going to have to bail on our bingo night about once a month to play that Friday night tourney. That prize pool is just too good to pass up.

Why do I feel like there's one in your future? I haven't done Vegas right so far imo. Next trip I'm going to build a profit playing cash, degen the profits for comps/free room offers, take shots at big field tourneys. If I still have money, shove as much sushi in my gut as possible and a $100 steak. Hopefully get comped a $100 show.

I don't drink much and I'm happily married so there are some things about Vegas that will not happen to me. Missed my chance in the 90's when I went there a dozen times for work as a single guy. Wish I knew then what I do about poker now.
