And a dealer fee is still an admin fee, especially when everyone takes it.

Thus, $15 + $5 = $20 and $20 / $50 = 40%
Incorrect.

A 2K add on to a 6K chip stack is huge. Blinds started at 25/50 and I could play more speculative hands than others who did not add on. Some people add on and play the same weak/tight way they would play with a shallower stack.

Suppose you may be right. I think the add on compared to the size of the buy in reflects how many people take it. In most tournaments I've played, the add on is usually a dealer tip and an extremely small percentage compared to what the buy in is and it really makes it foolish not to take it. So it seems like the vast majority do take it.

Anyone who don't take an addon for $5 increasing your stack by 33.33% is a fool and should never play poker.

Of course the downfall is that money isn't to the prize pool but still like others said if dealers are getting $5 from say 45 out of 50 players their is already a decent percentage in relation to the prize pool tipped to them that if you win you can tip less then normal.

Since a large majority of players take the add-on there is little benefit since most have the same stack. They are just allowing a minority to players at a discount.

You should play a "pick your poison" tourney.

Big beaver runs a pick your poison tourney tuesday nights I believe. Buy in from $10-60, 10k in chips for every $10 you buy in. No rebuys

ES does this tourney, $20=30k, $30=40k $40=50k or $50=60k.

You would be surprised at how many people don't buy in for the max.

Honestly in that scenario I don't think I would buy in for the max either. But my point was simply in the vast majority of tournaments the add on is so small compared to the buy in that it is foolish not to take it.

I would like to know what people are buying in for in a pick your poison tournament. If most are only paying $20 then why should I pay 2.5x for that many more chips when the upside is not very good for profitability in the long run.

That is why I just prefer a buyin with addon over something like that as once people get to break many will take the addon because they are short or they want to remain near the chip lead.

Starting with a smaller stack than other players at your table is horrific.

I once played in a two table tournament (TTT). Unlimited rebuys. We chopped 50/50 when it got down to me and one other guy. $10 profit for two hours.

Sounds like you have all the makings to play tourneys exclusively.

Called into MCC and asked about the 5/10 PLO that's supposed to run today. He said last week there was a list of 21, but that he's not sure if it'll run today because it's NYE. Anyone there?

it's the people that play there almost everyday that buy in for the min each time.

did you last longer than me yesterday? i looked for you on the way out but didn't see you. 5 tables left i think when i left. blinds were 1k2k. i was knocked out when an idiot limped w/ q7o, i shoved w/ A9hh holding 28k, and he called for 1/2 his stack and flopped the world.

I shoved AcQd and got called in 2 places by AsJd and Ad10d. Flop came Kd4d2d.

The lady called of her stack otb and flopped the nuts. I wanted to chuck her little doggie card protector across the room.
