Back then, Tropicana did not have a BBJ, so with rake and tip, it was $5, easy to breakdown 2 pink chips into 5 white chips. Now with a BBJ drop, it will not be as easy to breakdown ($4 rake, $1 BBJ, $1 for a tip).

You will need to have a couple rows of white in the rack. Easiest way would be for dealer to breakdown 2 pink chips from the pot, use that for the rake/BBJ drop, and then each person would need to have a stack of whites (that do not play, of course) for tipping. Of course, the dealer could break down some pink chips for players for tipping purposes. I would recommend people do it for $20 so that that game is not being slowed down everytime some one needs $5 in whites. Or just get a stack of whites at the cage.
If we decide to run this game it would be $5 PP/PHH time. But the good news is that you would earn $2 comps per hour played instead of the normal $1.

Since I have only played up to 5/10, I am not familiar with time collection. Does each person pay per down, or is there "time pot" where someone fronts the time money and then when the pot reaches a certain amount, the winning player pays back the person who fronted the money?

Its $5 per down. From my experiences, at 10/20 everyone usually pays but most games 20/40 and up go with a time pot. The borgata technically does not run them or get involved in them, all they care is that on the half hour they get their $50.

After pot of X size is won the winner ships half of the time to the person that fronted the money, 2nd pot that is size X same thing occurs.

It's best not to do timepots. Lots of arguing! Each time a new dealer enters the table they will ask for $5, just put (2) pinks infront of you and it's done.

I agree stan, i usually don't get in them because there is tons of arguing. Debates on whether all the time has been paid, it's simple when i'm not in them as i just say i'm not in it so i don't need to worry about who has paid time and who hasn't. The other problem i have is overzealous time collectors, i have seen on several occasions where they reach into the pot themselves mid hand or ask the dealer to toss them time before the pot is done. Many times i have reprimanded people that they can't take it yet as not everyone is in the time pot. Plus, until the time pots have been paid people tend to tighten up, which is good for stealing blinds etc but bad for action.

That's probably a good idea because one of the main appeals of the game will be the novelty, which would wear off if you tried to run the game too often. You might also want to limit the game to just one night of the weekend.

I think another key to the success of the game will be whether it develops an image as a more loose and fun game that is friendly to casual players who might be otherwise inclined to play NL. Hopefully the 2+2ers promising to bring action follow through. I remember reading some posts in here about some pretty wild pink games at the Trop back in the day.

Anyway, good luck!

I'd like to try the HOSE game some time. Does it generally attract people who play well? (I'm hoping not.)

O.K., here are the details of the pink chip game.

The game will start around 2pm tomorrow

The game will be a time game at $5 PP/PHH

PLayers will earn $2 per hour in comps

The game will be played on table 14

There will be a must move game as long as there are (2) 10-20 LHE games in action.

Yes, it is Hold'em only. I will try to get a pink HOSE game in the near future (i promise). Yes we are actively trying to get Razz.

Probably a stupid/already answered question... what's the normal comp structure? I've read $1/hr but I'm sure that's not true for all limits.

Our 5-10 and 6-12 game was $1 comp per hour. These games however are raked game. Since we are going to charge time for the pink chip game, we will give $2.
