I played the Borg 20/40 for the first time in a long time on SAT. There were 3 games. The must move was very good and the main wasn't as good but still a good game with a ton of chips on the table. The dealers box was too full and the floor had security take chips out of the box. There were several players with huge amazing stacks so they weren't selling chips {and I know you are not suppose to sell}. How could the box stay so full with all those chips in play?

Two things, one people are constantly bring new chips into the game from the must-move. Also higher limit players are less likely to play with cash on the table, hence they often plan ahead and buyin for more than the minimum.

I've seen this quite often at 40/80 when the game goes allnight. They frequently have no room in the rack for the time (and thats 8 chips as opposed to 14 at 20/40).

Hi Stan,

can you advise what time of day the 10-20 OE game starts nowadays? I expect to be coming over there soon for several weekends and wanted to get in before the game fills up and get stuck on a waiting list.

I'd also be interested in playing the 4-8 Stud game if you can get a full table.

So I played in the 4/8 game when it had re-morphed from HOSE to HOE with Omaha and Stud both as Hi/Lo games and a half kill. It was a great game with a ton of loose and fast action. Unfortunately, I only got to play a round of the games before the table finally broke. I made a little in Hold'em, getting lucky with a nut flush; lost a lot in Omaha 8 because I played too tight (I know, tight in low limit Omaha 8? KITN for me); and then I made it all back plus $65 in Stud 8 with three scooped pots.

Here's the question of the night and maybe Stan could jump in too: How in the world does Stud 8 with a half kill work?

Apparently, the table had been playing with it the whole day, but most of the players at that point had no clue how it should work. We tried to ask the floor about how it works, and I think the resulting confusion (two or three different floors gave us conflicting answers, and the final answer didn't make sense at all) was why the table broke. In particular, we wanted to know what happens when kill gets the low card and has to bring in. The problem being that the kill must post $6, which immediately takes away his actions. He can't bring in for less because that would just nullify the concept of the kill. He can't raise because nobody has had a chance to act yet. The floor ruled that this is the way it was, which didn't seem fair or sensible.

The only was I can see this working is if the kill is automatically the bring in regardless of up cards. The kill has to post a forced bet, which is the point of a kill, and has the option to complete, which is fair.

All in all, it was still a lot of fun, and I hope that this gets spread a lot more often.

When we started it I got the impression that we were kind of making it up. It sounded like maybe stud hi/lo wasn't suppose to have a kill.

We played it that the kill posted $6 regardless. If s/he was the bring in they could check or raise.

I've never seen a stud8 w/kill before, so I'm pretty sure our rules were mostly made up. We were 5 handed in the stud8 game, and wanted to spice it up, so we decided to add the kill. In our first iteration of the kill, EVERYTHING doubled, including the ante's and the bring in. I would have preferred to only play stud8, but seemed the only way to fill the table was to add in HO.

Fun games though.

Stan,
I'm headed up this weekend, and am very much looking forward to checking out your room. With the month-long event going, are you going to have your weekly Sunday $100+20 tourney on the 14th?

And hold that BBJ! (On that topic, what is the minimum losing hand to qualify?)

Thanks

I played almost the entire time on Sat with the Stud 4/8 to HOSE to HOE seemed like everytime I left the table for a brief moment the game changed. Would have preferred the HOSE all day. I too was very confused with the Kill with the stud h/l we played most of the day with the person who had to post with the option to raise. At the end of the night someone questioned it and the dealer would not let us continue as we had the entire 10 hours up to this point. IMO it was the dealer who caused the game to break and not the players. Would love to play this game more often. Are we on for this weekend. (Oh yeah was nice to learn that when the game finally broke was never clocked in - but Ken did give me a comp to the buffet!) Stan since your a fan of the stud h/l what is the rule on the kill? Also someone inquired why there was no kill in the hold 'em I would think that we should have had it and I think at one point during the day we did but it got dropped when we lost the stud high only.

I played most of Saturday (I'm the guy who has the bad leg who came in just after the game started).....that was seriously fun.

I've played in games with full/half kills in hi/lo games before, and the rule for the stud situation above generally has been that the killer posts $6. If someone else has the bring in, they can play for $1 (defined as the forced bet), call the $6, or raise to $12. Once the action reaches the kill button, the options are $6 or $12, and if the killer brings in, the action is assumed as 'complete' to $6.

It's fun trying to negotiate and organize a game like that - it's half the fun trying to get it set up.

And next time we should totally play 5/7.5 or 7.5/15 with pink - then we'd really have the sickest and coolest table in the room.

The stud part should not have had the 1/2 Kill. It will not happen the next time you guys play.

If only 1/4 games has a kill, is it really worthwhile?

Only reason it did is because we wanted to increase the action while only playing 5 handed stud8. Once we changed the game to HOSE, we just decided to keep the kill.

Since the Stud got killed out of the HOSE game, playing 1/3 of the games with the 1/2 kill would work fine too.

You have to understand that I can not give approval for the 1/2 kill in stud. CCC does not allow it.

No, the normal sunday tourny will be cancelled.

Quads over quads or better, Poket pair with quads to qualify.

There was a kill for quite a long time in Stud portion of the 15-30-45 game at the Taj although there hasn't been one in a while. The Stud portion of the 10-20 OE game at the Borgata had a kill at the beginning as well.

250+30s are WAY too long now, played one the other night that almost went over the three hour mark...sit-n-go, the name say it all, not sit-and-wait-a-really-really-long-time. 15 minute levels with 3000 chips was fine, 20x4000 chips is absurd.

Thanks. I've played in rooms that required tens-full (hits damn near every day) and some who require quad tens or better (seems to never hit), so any quads is a happy medium.

Thanks a lot for your posts here. Good customer service goes so much farther than many people realize in both bringing in and maintaining a solid customer base. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks for responding Stan. Wish you had been there when the confusion started (I think it was around midnight or later) and ended the madness.
