I'll be down there this afternoon. Going to start a list early for 1-2, 2-5 PLO. Hopefully we can get some games going.

I like the Noodle bar. I've tried Wolfgang Puck once for the burger as recommended in this thread, and it was pretty good. I also sometimes go to the Metropolitan.

Metropolitan cheesesteak sub is great, fatburger is nice if you want something fast and close to the poker room...

I dont mind paying 2 for 1 downstairs most of the time because it's cheaper to begin with, and it's faster, and closest to the poker room.

I just don't understand why people go out of their way to get a hamburger from the Metropolitan that is twice as expensive and takes twice as long as a burger or cheesesteak downstairs -- you end up paying the same price anyway due to the 2 for 1 and it's really very similar in terms of quality.

If it helps you, I'll construct an extreme example.

Say 20 players enter the survivor for $100 each. Without a dealer tip, the prizes would be 2 players get $1000 and 18 players get 0. Now say there was a mandatory 50 percent dealer tip. Now the prize pool is 1 player gets $1000, everyone else gets nothing. Now, it's not like the players in 2nd through 20th, who got nothing, all paid for the tip, while the winner, who got $1000, paid nothing. What actually happened is that there was one less prize to shoot for, thus affecting everyone equally, at the start of the tournament.

This is the exact same thing that happens with the 3 percent dealer tip in current survivor tournaments. It's taken off the top and affects everyone in the tournament equally, regardless of where he finishes.

So if you finish on the bubble and get the spillover prize, be happy and try not to fall into the logical fallacy that you paid the entire dealer tip. You didn't. You paid 3 percent just like everyone else in the tournament.

Edit: to address your point about feeling free from tipping after 3 percent, that's up to each individual player. A lot of recreational players tip $1 on a $20 pot in 2-4, which is 5 percent. If you go into the high-limit room you will see a 20-40 player tip that same dollar when winning a $200 pot. Some people at 1-2 no-limit, when they win $100, tip ten bucks. Some 1-2 NL players won't tip $1 unless they win a huge pot. It's up to everyone to tip how he feels he should.

Practically, I think the 3% is great for the tournament dealers, because not only are they insured against getting completely stiffed, but they also get the advantage of not all winners even KNOWING about the 3% and tipping anyway.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!!!!
God, this makes me so mad! How about pay the ACTUAL 10% of the players the CORRECT amount of money and take the mandatory 3% AFTER from EACH PAID PLAYER!!!!!! Then spillover guy gets more... bottom line. It is fair!! When you go eat at a restaurant... do you tip the waitress before you EAT??????? NOOOOOOOOOO..... you tip after you eat!!!!!

No one is saying the dealers shouldn't get the 3% bla bla bla... but how you can say its not coming from the spillover money is beyond me!!!

lol who the hell cares where it's coming from, what if the dealer's tip is 10% and there's no spillover?

Between 9pm and mid-night last night, almost 400 players registered for Event #1. This should be a good one.

Looks as though the Borgata thread will go over 1m views today. Thanks to all that have supported the thread these past two years. And a special thanks to to c10rox70 for starting the thread.

See you at the tables

You are as a big a reason for it's success Stan and deserve a lot of the credit. As players we truly feel like we have a direct line to someone who matters and cares about the players at the casino....because we do!

See you all this weekend.

Disappointed that event 1 is a re-entry $560 instead of the usual $400

Cheeseburger at Wolfgang Puck's, SO good, still one of if not the best cheeseburger I have ever had.

Used to really like B&B, not recently though, not sure if it's me or something changed.

Pastrami sandwich at the Metropolitan is really very good, the cuban sandwich is pretty good too, and they are good for a quick and good breakfast at the bar.

Someone else mentioned the Noodle bar is pretty good, the spicy beef and noodle soup is my choice there, but I don't like the other cooked dishes all that much.

If you want to spend more, check out Bobby Flays for a steak.

Justin, I do see your point of view. And I understand it -- but you're making a pretty common mistake. The bottom line is this: with the 3% dealer tip coming off the top, it cannot possibly affect one runner more than another, whether that person cashes or not. It affects everyone equally -- that is the definition of "off the top."
I really don't think you do see or understand it, if it came off the top, the spillover/bubbleboy would not be paying anything. Just think of how you would tip if the 3% was not in place, and you won.

My favs from previous visits...

NOW (Noodle Place, $1:1):
Chicken Pad Thai or Spicy Seafood Udon Noodles.

Old Homestead Steakhouse ($1:1):
Fried calamari (It ain't your typical Applebee's carimari. ) and New York Sirloin

Metropolitan ($1:1)
Bacon and Cheddar Metro Burger or New York Steak

I hope to try other fine places, if I could get over my current buffet/Amphora addiction. Heheh

I really really wanted to +1 this but had to clean it up a bit. Rich food + tournament poker just doesn't mix very well IMO.

For an Italian now living in the South, I highly recommend Tony Luke's. Especially the Italian pork with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone.

Maybe taking a trip to play cash since there seems to be a ton of traffic going through the room. Plus I have the night off. Maybe even pick up a room.

I'll agree with your middle point about how someone could have that opinion about him, though. Not so much the last, though.

Definitely agree about B&B and am surprised people rave about it so much. It's yummy, but it's 3-4x what you'd pay in a NYC deli.

Your options at this point are really limited to Metropolitan (steak and eggs is nice) and the Buffet ($10 if you're black card. Not that much more if you're not.)

Room service has nice orange juice. Do they still deliver room service to the high-limit area?

(Oh, this is all for breakfast. Not sure why B&B is even an option if you're not looking for breakfast or a sandwich)

I think the Metropolitan burger is quite different. And in a way that I prefer. And depending on the sides/options/drinks, can still be cheaper (in comp dollars) for more food.

And the frequent late night wait at Fatburger...

The cheesesteak is generally also a much better deal at Metropolitan, if you're paying w/ comp dollars. $12.50-14 v. $20+ Just no brocolli rabe or sharp provolone options.

So yeah, I pretty much disagree with all you said.

I feel sorry for people who have digestive systems that can't handle a little fat and are stuck with water/cellulose diets.

Taco Bell? White Castle? Pre-made sushi? Bring it on.
