Just came back from my third trip. Obviously this is one of the greatest poker rooms in the world, nearing perfection, but I have a few comments:

- Any chance to make the 5/10 nl games 9-handed? 10-handed is really, really uncomfortable.

- Can we get clarity on whether food is allowed in the room? The first time I was there I got reprimanded for trying to bring in a sandwich, but yesterday people were walking in with takeaway bags from the various restaurants, and I even found out about an unofficial foodrunner who takes orders from people and brings food to the table.

- Twice, some grumpy old geezer (I think he's a regular, name might be [name removed] or something like that) called the clock on me like 15 seconds or so into my action, when I was facing bets of 25/30 BBs and he wasn't even in the hand. The floor came over and mechanically asked if a reasonable amount of time had passed (clearly it had not), didn't really wait for an answer from the dealer (young and coy asian girl) and started counting me down.

In the second instance this resulted in me making a hasty decision which I later regretted and which cost me a sizeable pot.

If that donk doesn't understand that acting on bets of that size in a 5-street game requires some thought, I think the floor should make him come to his senses or start telling him to go **** himself.

Food is allowed in the high limit room only.

making 5/10 nl 9 is not gonna happen. if that's 9 handed, then why not 2/5nl or 10/20 limit, 2/4 limit, or why not all?

i have found that if floor person is (discretely) notified, they will tell donk to stop abusing clock requests.

[name removed] started with me as well on Friday. He was in the right though, but I said to myself that if he was at my table on Saturday I would immediately request a transfer. Him being at the table is not +EV unless there are terrible players at the table. And I chuckled as I saw person after person pay him off like I usually do.

Overall I am noticed lately that people seem to be more grumpier in the Borgata, from the players to the staff. I asked one staff member to do something for me yesterday that she had done for me in the past, and she immediately screamed at me "Go ask a shift manger!" I understand that there is less staff now and everyone is very busy, but I don't feel customers should be yelled at, particularly one that puts in the hours that I do at the limits I play.

You could/should have yelled back, "Go get me a floor manager!" And, if things escalated further, you could/should have reported her to management. Everyone should do their best to be civil and polite. But players are the reasons that casino employees have jobs.

Customers can get bad service anywhere. Borgata management should make an effort to make their customers feel appreciated. Stan and Tab have always done a great job at dealing with me as a customer. They have actually been much more generous that I could have expected. But, as you go down the line from the top to the bottom, the right ways of dealing with customers is often forgotten and overlooked.

If I remember correctly from the last time I was there, at the Venetian 1/2 and 2/5 are raked and 10-handed but 5/10 and higher are time-charged and 9-handed.

I think there is an imaginary line that one can draw between games, at some point of the stakes scale, which is probably the same reason why you have the higher-limit games in a separate area of the room.

Yes, in fact the transfer list was 6-deep.
As a matter of fact if he wants to play 5/0 like he was doing yesterday, whatever, it's his money, but he can't call the clock 15 seconds in a hand, particularly when he's not involved.

I'm kind of curious what was up with the massage staff today. In the signature room, I saw two of them. They disappeared, then I asked two different waitresses and the floor manager, over the course of this entire time obviously, to get one of them in there. We went 30 minutes, went on break. Played all the way through the next two levels, went on dinner break, then an hour after that, still no massage. Then I busted because I suck at poker, so I didn't get my massage.

Days like today make me want to quit playing poker. Just busted Day 1B. In nearly 10 hours of play, I saw AQo once and had four pocket pairs (88 twice, 66 and 55) which didn't connect. That's it. Pretty disturbing run of cards, not sure how much worse it could get...miraculous I made it as far as I did. --sigh--

The Borgata website doesn't have a structure for the Omaha 8 and the Pot Limit Omaha High tournament this week. Does anyone have a link to them? Is the Omaha 8 Limit or Pot Limit, normally I would assume Pot Limit since more Omaha 8 tournaments are Pot Limit, but some people are telling me no its limit.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Stan,

Where are they organizing the evening sattelities (4PM and 7PM)? Poker Room?

Also, is there more than one place to register (other than the poker room)?

Thanks,
GolfPro

Just made my first trip to AC after playing a bunch in Foxwoods/Arizona/Vegas, and played at the Borgata. It was a little confusing the first they called me, in most places I have been to you go to the board and they tell you what table to go to, but here the floorpeople are wandering around by the tables and you have to find them? Played 1-2 nl, not very much of a wait to get in a game at all, players were very friendly and the dealers as were the best I have ever had with one exception (don't know if we can post names) who was pretty poor and we had to correct her on the action several times. There were also a lot more good looking girls playing than I am used to seeing in a poker room. As a whole a good experience and a very fun room

The Borgatta has run Omaha 8 tournaments as limit in the past so I would guess it would be limit.

I'll play either way, but of course i would prefer PLO8 as most online tournaments and from what I hear Cali Omaha 8 tournaments (and some Vegas now) are Pot Limit. but I would really like to see the structure before I wake up early for this event.

Hello - I'm a Mohegan Sun "regular" (I guess Mohegan VIP status won't carry over for a black card huh?) and planning to drive down to the Borgata for a week or two to see if its a better fit for me - it does seem like you have better game selection (regular PLO is a huge upgrade over what we get in Connecticut). Any tips on places to stay (seems like priceline is the best bet), restaurants and anything else AC related/convenient if I'm spending all my poker time at the Borgata? Thanks guys.

hi everyone,

heading to to Borgata for the first time this weekend. Just wondering if the 1-2 Omaha game is a regularly running game? Also how deep does it play (max buy in) and does it run 24 hours on weekends?

I'm not sure how PLO runs during series. If it's anything like Thanksgiving or Christmas it might be running close to 24 hours. Buy in is 100-500 and a $5 raise seems to happen every hand at the minimum.
