it was amazing how at 4AM in the morning there were the hottest waitress of the day.

I kept on asking for water to get a closer look.

Myself and three friends drove from Baltimore (we were there for the Colts-Ravens game) to play poker this past Saturday, and I was largely impressed by the poker room at the Borgata. I was quite unhappy with one of the floorpersons in the 1-2 NLHE section, though.

The female floorperson initially was not going to allow us to play because she didn't like our Canadian I.D.. Our driver's licenses have everything you might need for identification purposes on them- a photo (obv), the date of issue and expiry, and the birthdate. We all had at least our government-issued health cards (which have our birthdates on them as well), as well as wallets full of credit and debit cards, student cards w/photo, etc.

This floorperson was initially was not going to allow my friend (the youngest of us, at 25) to play, at which point he asked her if it was the borgata's policy not to allow Canadians to play. She told him that she would accept a Canadian passport (!). I don't know about anyone else, but I have stuff fall out of my pockets in cardrooms on a regular basis, and there's absolutely no way I'm bringing my passport over and above the stuff I already carry.

I sat down last amongst my friends, and when she carded me she commented to another floorperson nearby that "they must have all come down on a bus or something", which seemed odd. As she was deciding whether or not to let us play, I was sitting at a table with my chips. The other players asked what was going on, and I explained the situation. One of the regulars commented that for this particular floorperson, a blood test might be required to convince her. She obviously had a reputation amongst the players.

I obviously don't have the slightest issue with requiring I.D. to play, but I have a big issue with the arbitrariness of this floorperson's approach. She never indicated what exactly her issue was with our I.D., so I don't even know what caused the problem.

Anyway, she eventually let us play (after stamping my 25-year old friend with a "Legal" hand stamp, for which we needled him mercilessly) and I had a good time, made money, etc. The weirdness of dealing with the floor definitely soured an otherwise awesome experience, though.

Sounds like a hassle but I can't imagine not having my passport on me at all times in a foreign country.

The hand stamp is done so they don't keep re-carding you every 30 minutes on the dealer change.

Just curious what is borgatas policy regarding speaking other languages at the tables? It is english only at the tables? or is it english only while you are in a hand? or is it english only while anyone is in a hand?

if you look young at all, the hand stamp is a blessing, since you'll be carded at every dealer change and by random floor people walking by.

Thankfully that's started to let up for me recently.

There is always action at Borgata. During the WSOP they ocassionally get a 5/10 NL game going so the 2/5 games kind of run like 5/10 once money gets on the table.

Yesterday I was so happy to see a PCG H.O.E. going. I got there about 1pm and there was a full game going and I was number 7 on the list. I was able to get a seat right away at the 10/20 2 way while I waited. It was interesting to watch a full game with 6 vultures (opps sorry meant players) waiting in prey hovering around the table to get a seat (well make that 7 but I was sitting my happy azz down playing a table away). When they finally called the (second) game at 4pm imagine my surprise that it did not go....hmmm wonder why after waiting on a list at least 3 hours old a game did not go? Before anyone asks no Stan was not in the room. It is there that all my comments about yesterday will stop. I finally learned first hand about all the negativity about the 10/20 Omaha h/l game. And do not want to torture myself like that this weekend again.

All that being said I would like to start a list for the PCG H.O.E for Friday and Saturday 1pm. Lock up your seat. (I like the idea of locking up the seat so we can see who is who).

I'll be there Friday thru Sunday and would play pink Holdem and/or Omaha, but I don't care much for stud.

Sure. I've actually played a pink HO game at the Borg once before. I usually prefer seats 7,8,3,4, but I'm not too particular.
BTW, I probably won't be there until Friday evening so I'll join in if it's already going. If not, I'll play on Saturday.

I really hope we can get a limit game between 3/6 and 10/20 running on Friday. I think this is the best chance for PCH to run, but if not, I am starting a 5/10 list.

Try to be there at 1pm so we can get the same going. I am hoping for at least a 2way game. much would prefer hose but know that is not happening unless we did a 4/8 all I know is I am going to be there on friday and saturday at 1pm trying to get a limit game going. I kind of would like to get a consenous of what game people want to play 2 way, 3 way, or just one way and which. I think it is easier to get a game going if we have at least 5 or 6 willing to commit. you know the 2plus2 motto you build it they will come. I honestly am not exaggerating about the people hovering yesterday wanting to play.

So far we have

me - any 2way game plus
junior - friday night and saturday (perfer H)
giocatore - ????

any others?

I should be there around 12PM. I might get there earlier - still debating whether I want to arrive early and play some cheap blackjack in the pit for a couple hours.

I am a one-way limit only. Sorry, Omaha gets me into too much trouble. I end up chasing everything and donating money left and right. I would play it at a 2/4 fixed limit, but at pink chip, that is just to much for me.

I can relate. I perfer LIMIT (multi-way) games but low-level limits above bingo level are always in the minority.

I dont know how much earlier you might want to get there. I picked 1pm because of the tournament on Friday it will be huge (starts at 11am) and doubt they will have dealers earlier than 1pm for lower limit games to open.

Occasionally?

5/10 NL runs every day, two tables by evening, 5+ tables on weekends. 9+ tables on WPT events, WSOP does not run at the Borg...

2/5 is not always deepstacked, you are looking at 100 Big Blinds on 2/5 versus 200 BB on 5/10 (if your buying in max in both) regardless 5/10 plays deeper, with bigger preflop betting ranges, flop C bets, etc. Facing a $1k plus bet on a multi way turn, your not going to see on a regular basis on 2/5 (but hopefully on an action 5/10, not the usually nitty rock garden)

I gave Stan feedback about my experience, and I encourage everyone to provide him feedback (good or bad) so that the Borgata management team knows what they're doing well and so that they know where improvements can be made. I assume that Stan is open to feedback in person and by PM here at 2+2.[/QUOTE]

Regardless of the poor customer service, you have to understand where the Floor and the Dealers are coming from. Any underage gambler in the poker room is a GCC violation, and costs $10K a pop, because of multiple violations the Borgata Management is holding Floors/Dealers/Waitresses personally responsible for any violations, and have actively fired people lately.

One of the few male cocktail severs got fired over not carding someone in the poker room that was served a ginger ale... Though this sounds awful in the Borgata's defense, the eye in the sky only sees an open beverage that MIGHT be booze served, without carding the person...

I once had a dealer call me a douchebag (not to my face, but whispered it to another dealer during the change). Needless to say, I wasn't amused, and didn't play at Borgata for a while. However, after playing at other casinos, I realized that I was punishing myself much more than I was punishing Borgata.

I understand the need to card, without a doubt. Myself and three of the four of us have worked in jobs that required us to card people. It's the seemingly random problem she had with our I.D., seemingly just because it was from Canada. We were trying to figure out afterward what legitimate reason there could be, but couldn't identify any meaningful difference between our driver's licenses and those of the Americans around us. And she never told us what, other than being from Canada, was the problem with our identification.

Anyway, this ended up being relatively minor. The cardroom was awesome, the dealers were excellent, the drinks and waitresses were fantastic. I guess I did have one other issue, but I suspect there's a good reason for it: At my 'home' cardroom if you get up to, for example, go to the washroom, you will be dealt cards, but your hand will be auto-folded as soon as the action gets to you.

At the Borgata, I missed a couple of dealt hands where I ended up sitting well before the action would have got to me. I don't like not getting hands I've "paid" for in blinds, so this bothered me- but as I said I suspect this might be standard, and have decent reasoning behind it (I just can't figure it out for myself).

Yea, played at borgota for the first time this weekend. For the most part had a very good experience, floors ran the room well and dealers were good/friendly.

Only had a problem with one dealer (I never have problems with dealers). This dealer took too much time from someone and got a little annoyed when I told him that it was wrong. Then, he didn't take bad beat rake out of one of my pots that he should of and he got very annoyed at me when I let him know. Oh well, guy was probly just having a bad night.

Overall, great room.

Agreed that it's a great room. Why would you let him know that he didn't take the rake out of your pot? You like giving money away?

He didn't want the subsequent bad beat jackpot hitting on his table to be disqualified?

I don't see how the dealer mistakenly missing one BBJ rake affects future eligibility. Where would the cycle begin and end? If a dealer misses a $1 drop at 3 in the morning, is the table ineligible if it hits 8 hours later? I believe the only hand not eligible would be the one the rake was not collected for. Turns out, that hand didn't hit the jackpot.
