I was there. It was straight flush over straight flush. Why was it voided?

Probably (I was not there and cannot even play at the Borgata) because the players were talking it up as the hand progressed and/or any time before showdown. Any talk that can be construed as "collusion" can void a Bad Beat Promotion.

You don't hear about it much because even when it happens, who is gonna say something? The players certainly won't. The dealer won't for obvious reasons. Surveillance usually cannot discern verbal collusion from video alone. Unless a floor person happens to be walking down when the hand happens and hears collusion and is willing to be the guy who in the view of everyone else causes a big jackpot to be disallowed, it just doesn't happen.

As I understand it this one was awarded and only later did they void it. That astounds me and I would love to hear how that happened.

Awarded and then voided? How could you compel players to return the funds?

looks like they lost a lot of their 3/6 players. not 1 table is running on a saturday. looks like 3/6 is does not qualify for bad beat anymore.

CURRENT BAD BEAT JACKPOT: $100,000
ALL TEXAS HOLD'EM GAMES, LIMIT & NO LIMIT, WITH A MINIMUM BUY-IN EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN $50 WILL QUALIFY FOR BAD BEAT JACKPOT AND ALL PROMOTIONS!

Does borgata have a poker rate and if so, how much?

Also if you put in a certain amount of hours, do you get comps and reduced rates on week days ?

By all reports, MGM has ended Borgata's long-standing generosity to poker players. If there's any remaining possibility of comp rooms from only poker, it's very small. Somewhat lower rates with some play logged on your card, yes.

Looking like the poker games are still going even without comped rooms, so I guess whatever they're doing is working in their favor. Sadly for us who come down from Tri-state area, $600/nt rooms are just not worth it when Parx is an hour closer

Yes they get some poker games. If they didn't run the room like **** they'd have a lot more.

When I was getting comped 7 days a week, I (and everyone) knew that it was unusual since they were the only property to fully comp players strictly for playing poker (not that it was free anyway, the room was still like $35/nite after junk fees and taxes which add up so 3 nites would be over 100$ for a "comped" room).

Borgata was smart. They knew poker players didn't just play poker. They ate at all the restaurants, drank, brought their wives/husbanks/bf's/gf's who play table games and slots, and many poker players themselves play table games, sports bets and slots too so it was a win-win for everyone but when MGM took over they probably said "what were you guys thinking about comping players who only bring in crumbs".

Also when they were comping everyone there was like 4 or 5 poker rooms in AC but now it's down to a couple, and for 2/5 and above they're the only game in town. Last time I played there (not by choice, I was meeting friends there for the weekend) I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on route 30 in Abescon, the room wasn't too bad it's probably one of the nicest on that strip (comfortability and classiness wise) it was quiet with convenient parking.

actually for well over a decade the resort fee was just 5 dollars a night. then mgm bought them and it went up like 4 different times in two years.

Meanwhile these geniuses now don't realize that even if you paid 2 cashiers 20 bucks an hour to work the 10-12 hours a day the cage is closed you only need 3-4 more table hours during that entire time to cover it which is easily would. So many people stopped playing there or barely play there anymore bc of nonsense like this.

The room aesthetically is still very nice (although lol@ the tvs) and as you said the parking is convenient.

I actually have a theory that they replaced the poker room rug during the shutdown bc they ordered too much of that rug for a different mgm property and what was left over just happened to fit in the borgata poker room so they sent it there.

I am thinking of heading there tomorrow for a survivor tournament and then some 2/5 after.

Has anyone played the survivor tournaments there lately? How many average players play in these? And it’s top 10% “survive” and win the money?

Thanks.

their daily tournaments/survivor seems to get anywhere from 50-150 runners. the survivors are not worth it unless it also has bounty.

Had a conversation with a floor person and there is a conflict between casino management and poker room management. Casino wants to book the event center for other events/conventions. Fall open might not happen.

They havnt run any of their opens since 2019.

Totally sucks. If they got their **** together, and ran a decent series, they would be in a position to steal back some players.

But from what I've been hearing, parx has been looking at running their deepstax series again.

Once they do that, borgata poker will be officially dead.

Last time Borgata did successfully a poker event was in 2018 winter poker event.
They had over 4500 players in their opening event ($600 buy-in).

Something happened ( MGM took over ) and the most talented Poker Room Manager Tab moved out ( reason unknown).

Since then poker tournament series are gone !!

I think it has to do with a Poker Room manager who can manage a huge inflow of poker players.

Until they find someone capable who is comparable to previous manager , Borgata will not dare to organize a poker tournament series.

It was also two months before COVID. If you're gonna draw a line in the sand for before-after, that's a pretty big one.

Can anyone verify this?

I talked to a floor during the Almighty day 2 and they said we're going to do just another one off in the fall and then start doing bigger MGM series next year as WPT wasn't coming back to Borgata. This is probably outdated info now, but it's what I was told. I hope they start doing more tourney series as the Northeast MTT scene is complete dust these days.

They don't have the room to run a 3000+ runner tournaments. They'll most likely do a 6x day 1 almighty in the poker room.

In the past when they ran 4 big events a year Borgata Summer/Spring/Winter/ Fall open etc , they used event center which can handle any big turn out.
