Currently no good room rates for a Saturday night - what is best strategy to get comp or more likely better rate? Is there any way to leverage prior play?

Thanks
It can (LITERALLY!) sometimes be cheaper to fly to Vegas and stay at a lower tier (but still decent) hotel!

I like parx better because i can exploit the players better. Some are very good but I usually win. Borgata is too nitty and degenerate at the parx has better games. Last time i went to borgata I couldn’t find food or had trouble.

You won't get decent comps from borg through poker or even table games. Sadly, slots are your best bet at racking up comps.

Good to see everyone going to the Parx, not worth giving the Dustgata any business since they took away all the comped rooms for poker players.

I’m a low stakes online poker player and someone with risk factors that make covid potentially very serious. I admittedly don’t check my tier credits often b/c I don’t plan on going back to a casino for the foreseeable future. Last time I checked was maybe last Aug/Sept when I had around 10,000 tier credits. Checked again tonight and have about 3000. I understand that 3000 is what I earned since 1-1-23 but where are last years credits? Do they just disappear? Do I have a shot at recovering them to redeem for something? Is there anything left to redeem for? I’m not easily finding the “old” offers like exchanging tier credits for rewards points, etc. Now I understand the underlying theme here about how poorly poker players are being treated. Thanks for any input you care to share.

Tier Credits expire every year. They're wiped out January 1, and they're gone. They're for earning your card level for the coming year, so your 2022 Tier Credit total determined your 2023 card level. That's always been the way...new card year, you start earning again from 0.

Rewards Points (the new version of former comp dollars) keep accumulating. On a blue card, they can expire after six months of no play (at least that was the old way...I'm not sure it's the current way).

Thanks, Sirpupnyc - I was confusing tier credits with reward points because I only “earned” recognition with my butt in person sitting in a poker room chair (and a dabble now and then at the craps tables). Appreciate your help!

I got an email yesterday that my pre-Covid Rewards Points will expire March 30 if I don't come visit them (I haven't been since May 2021). So I guess whatever hold there's been on the actual expiration policy is coming to an end.

I haven’t gotten that email yet but I do play poker online at the MGM site and so far, it seems that action qualifies.

I never understood why it was more expensive to stay at the WC just because it's different. It had cheap furniture and hard beds. I only took it when it was the only room available.

It's closer to the poker room, at least marginally. It had a different/better room service menu iirc. Maybe access to some different pools or services too?

I don't know, I only ever used the room to sleep in. I picked WC back when I could because it was closer and allegedly nicer, but honestly I didn't really care.

The pool on the 32nd floor was very nice. The spa was worse than the normal one. The outdoor pools are nice. Before they took them out, the overhead waterfall-type shower was very nice, in addition to the normal shower head. They actually had better towels (if you remember, they were brown).

The rooms itself were not much different than the normal ones. But I think they were quieter, which was nice.

But none of it was a game breaker. I took whatever comp room is available.

The room service there after covid became an over priced delivery service that comes in bags instead of the table with the hot box and the pitcher of lemon water on it. Everything got replaced with plastic containers and horrible silver colored plastic knives that wouldn't even cut a steak (the one time I got a steak I had to eat it with my hands like a burger) even though they still have the delivery charge and a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill.

Agree with all of this.
It wasn't a big deal to me but if I had the choice is pick water clubs rooms. But I wouldn't pay extra for them.

Tonight (Wednesday 3/29), I decide to check out what the Borg is charging for rooms.

Here is my finding:
1) If I log in, I am only offered Fiore suites (which are sweet but pricey)
2) If I am just an anonymous "guest", I am offered regular rooms at an almost reasonable rate (Friday night was $152 (before resort fee & tax & uh... whatever). Saturday was more (maybe $275? I forget).
3) HOWEVER the moment I try and actually book the Friday night for $152..... it changes to $263 (again BEFORE tax etc)
4) I call Borgata and give them my card number and they offer me Friday night for $186.

I tried clearing my cookies to no avail.
HOWEVER, a couple hours later, the system appears to be behaving (at least the prices aren't changing) but ONLY if I don't login!
If I login, Friday night LOOKS like it's $161 but if I try and book it..... it jumps to $239! (see attached)

This is a highly dynamic system.

Hi- I deleted a few posts that were a political derail about Biden and Trump and comps. We don't allow political discussions in this forum. We have a politics forum (that I also have the mis fortune to mod) where Biden and Trump get blamed for everything. But for this venue let's keep politics out of it.

Thanks.

Does anyone have the structure for the $800 milly gtd @ borgata in May? 100k starting stack makes me want to max late reg but I need to look at the structure first.

Either way I'm pumped for borg to run some events this summer.

Idc whether it's parx or borg I just want some local east coast events back!

I found it on their website here:

https://borgata.mgmresorts.com/en/casino/poker.html

It looks similar to their old Almighty structure with them starting at 200/300 instead of the 100/200 level.

What do Craps limits look like on Saturday nights these days? I was there last summer and $50(!) was the minimum. I remember in 2019 it used to be that you'd have to suck it up and move up from $10 to $15 later on Saturday nights, so I was shocked coming back post-COVID that the limits had been raised so much.

I'm hoping to at least be $15 most of the night and $25 later in the night. Is that possible? If not, where should we go?
