(no disrespect to Roy Halladay intended)

the metagame in baseball between pitcher and batter is unrivaled by anything in sports.

This I can respect and agree with despite my limited knowledge of baseball strat. I would recommend any of you guys with the interest / opportunity to pick up some seats as cloes to home plate as you can get. Watching this American sportscenter Im seeing tons of boring basketball highlights instead of the thrilling NHL cup finals, and it looks like these seats are empty in lots of busto American cities. Sitting there really gave me a new appreciation for what the batters have to deal with.

Inyaface would probably be able to comment more on shooter/goalie but I would say it applies most on breakaways or shootouts. For in game situations where its more about the goalie taking away certain lanes for the shooter and then reaction to what the shooter does than thinking of metagame stuff similar to the baseball relationhips.

FWF - The combination of power and finesse required to score well over a round of golf requires a ton of athleticism. To do well over a 4 day tournament requires tons of consistency and some might say endurance. I can see loling @ 'endurance' compared to other sports. Long drive championships or putting well can be classified as a skill, but the combination of mental game + mastering all of the shots needed to win on the highest level = athleticism imo.

I think whoever said arguing about what is a sport and what isnt is dumb, but the metagame stuff in sports discussion is awesome. Those of you with a solid knowledge of all sports - where is coaching metagame the greatest?

Edited after kirbynator posted below me : What about ufc metagame?

not even remotely close. i played hockey at the junior and collegiate level and i mean although there is some metagame when someone has time to shoot, overall there is none.

the thinking that is involved on any given pitch of an at bat is so complex that i could write forever on it. at the major league level the pitcher vs batter dynamic is soo incredibly amazing.

yeah I guess there are more ''parameters'', in hockey in a shootout it's more about reacting. In baseball the slower pace before the actual moves happen probably enhances the metagame a lot too.

ppl should read the legislation forum, looks like big stuff going down, banks seized 30 mil of online poker related money. i'm not sure what this means, just probably something we should be aware of.

btw i dont think it's time to panic, good to stay informed.

at the highest levels of hockey im sure goal scorers study goalie tendencies but there is only so much a guy can study at hockey. the game is so fast that all you can do is try to create or find an opening that the goalie is giving you and put the puck there.

pitching, like a million other things, is very similar to poker. there are so many variables at work on any given pitch which is why only a few can ever be great for their whole career. it just take a **** ton of constant work and study and tweaking and adjusting.

30 million across the big poker sites is not a lot of money. i can't see how it's good news, but i don't think it's time to panic.

This is a x-post by Russ Fox from this thread in legislation regarding the recent government actions.

What would happen if online poker vanished in the United States? The estimates I've seen show that the US still represents at least 70% of online players. It's clear that the sites themselves realize the danger (which is why they're contributing directly or indirectly to the fight).

I think there's an inescapable conclusion. Everyone involved who is benefiting from online poker, directly or indirectly, needs to help in this fight. That's about the only way we're going to prevail. This includes 2+2 and the training sites. Like it or not, today the only game in town in D.C. is the PPA. United we stand, divided we fall is still true.

Please make all of your transfer requests there rather than here.

hrm... remember when NYCballer started a thread where he wanted to like start his own lobbying group?

Maybe we should bump it or try and make a new thread with an updated OP?

idk anything about where to start w/ politics or lobbying but there has to be people on these boards that are savvy and up to atleast craft an idea.
