i dont think establishing the existence of things like EV, or bankroll management or any of that stuff will be compelling at all to the general public
I agree with most of your post, but not this. I guess it depends on who the audience is intended to be, and what message is intended to be sent. If it is for a general audience and the goal, at least in part, is to help 'legitimize' poker and help ease the resistance the general public often seems to have about poker as an occupation, then I think discussing these things however briefly would help.
Many times I will be having a conversation with someone who isn't part of this world about how poker can be a legitimate pursuit and not just pure degeneracy. When the question turns to how I don't just "click the mouse & lose the house" I discuss with them how bankroll management is as important as any strategy or tactic. When they complain that it's all just random & gambling, I try to explain basic odds & introduce the concept of EV. If they are convinced I'm a degenerate, well then no conversation will ever sway them. But when people who don't get it and have no frame of reference hear me explain to the science behind poker, they become more interested & accepting.
