Isn't "skill" just a component of making someone competitive at a sport on a professional level? (i.e. skill only serves to influence success rates at "sporting" events). You might as well include racing, bowling, wrestling, hunting, fishing, etc., as non-sports if that's the case.

I dare you to tell my old Grampa Cecil that killing deer isn't a sport

my friends used to get so pissed when i would say table tennis is more of a sport than golf. Snooker and pool fall into the same bracket too.
