So far this has been my grandpa strat with my first grandkid (who's like 2 months now). Kid is too squirmy / back archy / etc. for me to be comfortable with holding him yet.

Mighta played my last weekday round of golf for the year yesterday; barely squeezed it in after work and played the last hole pretty much in the dark. Somehow managed to break 90 (that's a barg, lol) in spite of starting off with 3 straight double bogeys.

Congrats Miami, from a long time lurker.

RTP, everyones post- on the subject of full time play has been pretty spot on to me (some may be a little harsh). Reminds me of an Ozarks quote about drug dealers/ cartels “They're not criminal geniuses, just pathological liars on the path of least resistance.” With that said, you do meet some interesting people at the tables and get to see raw human emotion and decision making. Obviously their are quality people in poker just fewer than the rabble.

my advice is that if the old saying about "you are the average of your five closest friends" is true and your friends are all pro- poker players, then you will need to put structures in place to make sure that you are not following the path of least resistance and rising above the pitfalls that come with gambling for a living.
Obviously easier said than done...

SABR you making up for lost time not befriending a prop trading billionaire or EDM star? People have many reasons for not wanting to go higher than 5-10 or 2-5, one of which is taking a 30-50k swing on their own roll is pretty devastating...pretty sure when I was watching Dr. Giggy vids on bluefire he said he couldn't play above NL1000 (multi table online) because the swings were too hard for him to take psychologically so even though he was rolled for it, he just invested his excess capital elsewhere ..best of luck though

The highstakes ecosystem was drying up (its great right now tbh), but that mentality of "oh hes a whale so he can do basically whatever" - that **** is cultivated in poker and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of that myself early in my career. As I got older and branched out and actually playing poker became less and less of my income, I had more and more freedom to tell some guy who was treating a dealer poorly to chill tf out. I'm 5'10 220 and thicc.

Good post. Everyone except the true 1% of poker is much better off investing the money as opposed to playing high stakes. How "good" you are is only part of the equation.

Obvious solution is obvious: leave work earlier.

Or move to Phoenix (or Vegas?) where our 'season' is just getting under way (wasn't even 38 yesterday/today, but will be 40+ tomorrow and well into the future)(That's 100/107 for USAians)

Many congrats! Being a dad is the absolute nuts.

You won't drop her. +1 to Spyu on always support the head.

Be very patient with mom. Post partum emotions are prevalent in many new mothers. If you sense anything out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to speak with a doc. Totally normal.

Best.

Pixies weren't even formed yet when that movie came out, and Molly Ringwald seems more Tiffany (though that would also be anachronistic) than Psych Furs, but the rest seems pretty spot on.

Tiffany wasn't even formed yet into the human conscience until two and a half years after that movie came out. BTW, her name is Claire, not Molly whateverthe****. List was spot on.

Which is why I said that it would be anachronistic.

+1. Oodles of crushers and knuckleheads itt. If only I could figure out who's who. One thing I do know is that SABR is my new favorite high-stakes pokerer.

Agree re: Pixies

Claire could easily have Madonna and Alison needs Echo and The Bunnymen. Otherwise on point

Yeah, def fits with early Madonna, even better than Tiffany, and no time machine required.

Would the guy on the left perhaps dabble a bit more in harder rock or even early 80s metal? Lol @ me, I have zero clue who Tubeway Army is.

U2 in '85 might have actually been a bit too cool for the Estevez character? Lol, just read a Pitchfork column celebrating 20 years (20 ****ing years!) of a U2 album I don't even know the name of and I'm sure sucks; it's almost difficult to remember they were actually literally cool at one point.

Gothhead is probably spot on except for I don't think Pixies were around yet?

Ringwalds probably more accurate than AMH character (wouldn't Television and Talking Heads be a little too cool for him?).

I'd like for him to be able to handle one solid accidental bounce or two, so I might give it another little bit.

Tubeway Army we Gary Numans project before he went solo. You definitely know Numan. Biggest hit was Cars circa 79/80.

Basically a full on Kraftwerk copy

Aren't high-stake poker games just a way to get people to invested in your pyramid schemes?
