It’s hard to win when you’re a team that focuses its offence around high volume 3 point shooting because you nearly led the league in 3pt% even though you were a high volume 3pt attempt team and then you shoot 31% in a series getting plenty of open looks and your best scorer is non-existent on the score sheet.

Also side note, I straight up said in my original take that Boston was the team I was most worried about, not Milwaukee. I didn’t lose any $ on the series and I wasn’t tempted to bet them when I saw how they were playing.

You might have tough time understanding advance poker books if this is how you write.

Boston shot 9 of 38 on 3s yesterday...hard to use 3 point variance to defend the Raptors.

Would feel much better about Celtics against Miami with Heyward tho.

Ya, I was meaning the whole series, not just one game. But after checking I’m seeing Boston was pretty bad from 3 as well all series. I don’t like a handful of things about how that all played out, I’ll leave it at that. Anyone that’s watched a lot of the Raptors in the past few years knows Boston has always been their toughest matchup in conference (with or without Leonard). It’s also easy to confidently say they didn’t play near their A game. They deserved to get bounced. It’s fine.

Raps played under expectation (especially Siakim) all series and still almost won.
I don’t think you’ve really proven anything about your take being “correct”.
Boston, Miami and Toronto are all very equal teams.
So they’re either all contenders or none are, but it’s not possible that none of them are because one of the three will be playing in the finals.
That was my main point the entire time, but you mistook my take the entire time.
And yes, I still think the Raps could have easily come out of the East.
Yeah his take is pretty much like when people post hand histories and think the results of the single hand prove the right answer to how it should have been played.

Xtra- jfc man

1) I said Siakam is not a “star”. I clarified what I meant by star, listed some players, all that Jazz. Several games were played in the playoffs (where things matter) and Siakam was underwhelming. I know he’s beloved in Canada and he’s ascending, but he’s just not there yet. Yes, small sample size lol. But Luka didn’t need a large one. Neither did Donovan. Or Jamal. Etc. see where I’m going?

2) I was saying it was amusing you thought the Raptors had a chance to compete for a title (win 4 games in any universe vs a West Squad). I do believe Boston, Miami, and admittedly Milwaukee could do it.

3) Boston > Toronto. Miami > Toronto. Milwaukee > Toronto. Lakers > Toronto. Clippers > Toronto.

No, the result of one series doesn’t prove that. The way the Raptors played, they would have, deservedly, been a massive underdog to one, of the West teams in a series. It doesn’t matter that much what happened in the regular season (yes the raptors went 2/2 vs the lakers and 0/2 vs the Clippers). In the playoffs stars, and especially superstars, matter. No, that does not mean an East Team can’t pull it off, but imo the two East teams left have more firepower to pull off than the Raps (because they both have stars).

No, I do not care lol, my sole priority is poker atm but I do get a kick outta people not giving credit where it’s due itt. Excuses, excuses, and then more excuses. Haha, w/e man.

Spoiler:
Except Miami, he’s a cool cat.

Okay, so let’s say Miami loses to Boston in 6 now. Seems totally reasonable and possible, no? Miami is still clearly head and shoulders above Toronto, right?
Pick who wins Miami and Boston then.

Clearly I was wrong to suggest that a long shot team was actually less than a long shot team. I don’t know what came over me.

Your logic is like saying Philly had an outside shot at winning the championship last year because the pushed Toronto to a game 7, and then Toronto went on to win.

That isn’t even an NBA thing. The Texans were up 24-0 on the Chiefs last year. If they win that game, they would have went on to compete for the Super Bowl too?

By your logic, if OG hadn’t hit a buzzer beater in game 3, and the Raptors potentially get swept it would have meant something different. Yes, they have heart and play hard and well together and are well coached. But the star thing is insurmountable.

They lost. Seriously stop it. The point I’ve been trying to make this whole time is that without a star they were bound to get bounced inevitably. And the fact that it happened sooner rather than later, is completely unsurprising.

Omg man, you are insufferable to debate.
It’s semantics. Who cares?
It’s not excuses, it’s math.

P.S. raps could have easily won game 2, so how is your statement even relevant when a raptor player made a clutch 3 *IN REGULATION*? Was there something illegal about making a buzzer beater?

I beat this guy in blitz, who then beat a world champion.

I could’ve been the World Champion through transitive property.

Case closed.

For the hundredth time, Raptors never had a chance. Every team remaining does.

I have absolutely no clue who wins.

Xtra- I don’t understand what you don’t understand because you’re going in circles with the excuses but this is my last post on this topic. Once again, keeping the thread trend alive if not giving credit where it’s due. Nbd. All good. Fully expected it.

Every championship in the past 11 years has been won by Kawhi, Lebron, or a team in the west.

Even if that doesn’t hold true this year, a star less team ain’t breaking that streak. And there are none left. Regardless of where the Raptors got bounced, they were getting bounced inevitably.

For all the reasons I’ve been telling you.

Factually untrue, and if you’re as smart as you think you are, you know better than this.

There is no Golden State dynasty anymore. Lebron is coming up on 36. Injuries happen. You are ignoring everything relevant that doesn’t fit the exact mold of the confirmation that you desire.
