isn't "best superhero show" the same as "2nd worst superhero show" if SHIELD is their only competition in the category?

Cool Thread.
Peaky Blinders and The Fall from this year. Domestic UK shows so maybe a bit more obscure for some of you guys. Both outstanding.

How about Misfits? I haven't seen it but it's on my to-do (albeit very low prio)

The first 3 seasons (maybe 2) of misfits were amazing imo. It kind of goes downhill after for a reason that I can't reveal without spoilers

Spoiler:
cast changes too often. Many people die, which is one of the fun part of the show - how they start getting used to it so much that it doesn't even matter when someone dies. But it makes it more difficult to get attached to the show and care for what's going on. When I think of misfits, I still think of Nathan, Kelly and Barry - not the new ones.

Season 5 just started, I'm still watching and still finding it highly enjoyable but it's not like "the good old days". Definitely worth it if you're into this kind of show, I didn't expect to like it as much. However if you're looking for the traditional superhero show (alphas/x-men/arrow and the likes), you'll be disapointed.

Misfits is great. I've only seen first 3 seasons, but I'd easily put it ahead of Heroes.

Last season and season 3 to a degree I really felt like the Misfits writers could just do whatever they wanted and had unlimited freedom, which led to some crazy storylines. However, as mentioned, some cast members do go on to bigger and better things as Misfits seems to be a good platform for that. This season started slow and I nearly dropped it but has picked up nicely and I find it to be an enjoyable 40 minutes.

I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons, too.

This is not a good late summer/fall for TV.

Low Winter Sun, Ray Donovan, The Bridge: No.
Homeland: This is why Showtime can't have nice things. I'm out.
Masters of Sex: Intriguing. I'm a Lizzy Caplan superfan and the show is finding itself but, again, Showtime will manage to **** it up.
Boardwalk: Gone from slow to tedious to ugh. I watch with half-attention now - if at all.
The Walking Dead: I haven't and will not watch a moment of this season. Every technical storytelling aspect of this show sucks.

South Park, Eastbound and Down, and Parks and Rec (when NBC feels like airing it) are all excellent this season.

I don't know. Maybe I'm getting old and grouchy. I'm not even into Top Chef this year. I suppose I'll give Luther and Orphan Black a whirl.

Grantland did a good piece about how AMC has **** the bed and how Netflix might take the torch. Let's hope. Orange is the New Black is outstanding.

Masters of Sex best currently airing show imo but there is def other stuff worth watching

Bron/Broen (the bridge in swedish/danish) is excellent
Sons of Anarchy
The Good Wife
Scandal
Revenge
Fresh Meat
Modern Family
White Collar
Castle
all worthy of watching imo

also watching Parenthood, Nashville, The Blacklist, New Girl, The League not that im mad about any of them. The League did have one great episode "Rafi and Dirty Randy" which had pretty much nothing to do with the rest of the show, was hilarious.

The Bridge was great, shame on you. Lumping it in with Low Winter Sun and Ray Donovan is an abomination. Carry on.

The Bridge > Ray Donovan >>> Low Winter Sun

Ray Donovan is a great crime show trapped inside of a terrible family drama. Needs a serious edit to cut about half the running time.

Watching a painter watch paint dry would be better than Low Winter Sun. I would edit Ray Donovan into a good show if I had access to it...lol. When I watch TV and see a bad scene, I hold up my hand to my wife, and make a scissors motion.

Always get disappointed when justified and deadwood get brought up. Gave both multiple efforts and never fell in love with them. I did watch most of justified and agree its a good show but never could click with it like I do with most shows. Deadwood has been a much harder fight

If you haven't watched The Shield then DO so. I'm halfway through season 4 and now watching episode after episode when given a chance. I'm actually kinda sad knowing I only have 3 more series left (but heard great things about 5&7).

I just started a rewatch after seeing it once, about 2-3 years ago. Loving the first few eps. Anyone up for a discussion thread?

As much as I love him, I could actually understand this. He's got an odd acting style(imo) and he's a touch pompous on podcasts.

Keep trying with deadwood.

A huge YES to both.

Deadwood and The Shield are easily top 5 GOAT shows for me.
