I am enjoying the season enough to keep watching but they really need to go back to two tribes and forget these stupid six person tribes.
There's a Lauren?

The number of people (myself included) who are in the "who is Heidi" crowd is a perfect example of what is wrong about these turbo and idol/advantage/twist centric seasons. There is so much effort expended on showing the viewers the twists and machinations of a few players that there is no opportunity to show any cross section of social interactions.

Thus the edits tend to purple 1/3 of the cast.

Carson basically speedrunning that puzzle was both great and painful to watch, as it indeed demonstrates that CBS is phoning it in when it comes to challenges, thinking that mixing things up with idols and advantages can compensate. Honest question - have we reached a point as yet where there have ever been more "real" idols and advantages alive in the game than actual players? If not, I'm guessing that day will come soon and CBS will probably be jubilant when in truth they should realize it'd mark the nadir of the show.

If heidi does something interesting, they’ll show it. Citing a lack of Heidi as a reason why the show is bad is ridiculous

You may be right, but my point is maybe she has been doing something that in earlier seasons would have been shown, but now they spend so much time on scavenger hunts that there isn't enough time to show as many personal interactions as they used to in longer seasons with fewer twists.

Example: We had no clue last season how significant Gabler's social game had been until the reunion show.

Just say you dont like the scavenger hunts. Morphing that opinion into “show us Heidi struggling with the elements or crying because she misses her family” is so dumb.

Guys, Heidi is vegan but she ate fish on the island. What a quandary for Heidi! That’s good clean drama theyre ignoring to show us immunity idols and advantages

I seem to recall an interview with Probst (or maybe it was on the show) where he acknowledged that some of the challenges had gotten repetitive and were going to move some out of circulation (Spencer is the first guy I remember doing this - the slider challenge where he finished in like 3 seconds and told Jeff he'd practiced it until he could do it blindfolded).

As dumb and obvious as it sounds, kudos to Carson for not publicly bragging that he'd prepared for that challenge. It's obvious you shouldn't out yourself as a serious player like that, and it's a great bomb to drop at FTC, but nonethless I feel like about 90% of people who've ever been on the show wouldn't be able to help themselves from saying it.

How many puzzles are there? Infinity?
It’s pretty lazy to re-use them

Had to look up both Heidi and Lauren to see who they were lol. Not a good sign when we've reached the merge already.

It just feels like with the rapid advantage-heavy seasons, they can only pay attention to the most out-there contestants (Caroline and Yam Yam clearly getting the most time so far). If you're just a normal person you are barely there in the eyes of the editors.

The show is so budget.

1) fixed location in Fiji
2) re-use puzzles
3) shortened season by 33%
4) kept prize at 1mm (should be 1.75mm to be equivalent to season 1 purchasing power)

I really like the Fiji location, but agree with everything else. Especially the prize money never being increased. So stingy. Probst should be embarrassed about that.

grunch

I mean...once you've earned individual immunity, how hard is it to drop your ball and ensure the safety of your showmance and closest ally in the game? Especially if you anticipate he's one of the potential targets. I know they're hungry, but surely peanut butter and jelly isn't worth destroying your own morale and undermining your position in the game. Weird. Balance your ball and roll the dice on Matt going home. Drop your ball and maybe Danny/Carson/Kane/Caroline goes home...how is any of that even bad for Frannie's game?

And also...what a waste of power. I think. I don't know. Maybe she was TRYING to vote Matt out. I just don't see what the purpose of even playing the control the vote if you don't put the vote on Jamie or Lauren and try to give an alternate option to Matt and Yam Yam. {sigh}

Me the first 15 minutes of the episode

'Oh wow looks like we are finally building up to a interesting social strategic war of two sides with lots of moving parts.......and heres the twist........and heres the second twist on top of the first twist..... guess we once again better spin that 'whos getting voted out this week' wheel of fortune again baby

Ok I was wrong about Heidi lol. That was not well thought out, she should have told Lauren to vote Jaime or vice versa. At least make it a tie. Now she's pissed off Yam Yam and Lauren and lost an ally. Surprised Franny didn't just drop and save Matt TBH too.

Apparantly 90 minute episodes might be coming next season, but Jeff will probably just use them for more annoying twists so IDK if anything much will change.

I'm not sure it would have made a difference (no matter what she did, the vote was just going to at best change from 4-1 Matt to 3-2 Matt, especially because Lauren can also bust out her extra vote too), but the correct play is to tell Yam Yam to vote for himself. I was watching the parchment and there was no indication that wasn't allowed.

I will allow that playing it correctly outside of that obvious vote for yourself way would have been hard to guess - you have no idea what the dynamics of those 5 people are. The idea of not playing it probably should have been the default, but it didn't look like that idea ever crossed Heidi's mind.

Probably best for Frannie that Matt went after how transparently and directly she advocated to save him.
