Watched the first ep of White House Plumbers on HBO. Thought it was hilarious. Woody Harrelson is a national treasure.

Started this and have not finished it yet. It definitely has high expectations for me. Love Woody in most of his stuff. At the same time Danny McBride is the national treasure of drama/comedy in my opinion. Eastbound and Down, Vice Principles, and then The Righteous Gemstones are all insanely good and I think alot the writing in those series is coming from him. He has also crushed it in many movie roles whether small or large. Amazing stuff. I'll finish and probably continue watching the White House Plumbers but Danny McBride is the gem in the future, probably even present and past of drama/comedy.

Regarding Succession, if I'm not really liking it through the first 4 episodes should I continue?

I love the show, but based on this you could probably bail.

i loved it from the start but know a few who didn't and it took time for them to like it

4 episodes does seem like a lot though, probably not for you but i don't think it'd hurt to try a 5th, pause 15 minutes into it and ask yourself if you actually care about what happens in the rest of the episode

that is the trick i've used, if i can stop a show 1/3 of the way in and be totally fine with not continuing then it's time to move on to better things

like peaky blinders, i know so many people, my brother included, who absolutely love that show but I think it's basically unwatchable and just can't subject myself to any further torture of trying to wait for it to get better - and lord knows i've tried, the lead actor is a favorite of mine

I think it was episode 7 when the “Gets a Greg tattoo” meme thing was made and when I tried it again after finish the first episode and dropping it. It’s might be a lot to ask but I think it would be worth it to finish up to 7.

I'm also one of these people. Apparently it gets better and better budget? Does seem to be the case here: https://www.ratingraph.com/tv-shows/...ratings-68183/

Granted if this start is supposed to be an 8 or 8.5, lol. It isn't.

Agreed.

That said, Succession is amazing, Brian Cox is the nuts, and Kieran Culkin pwns.

I’ve tried twice. I made it through most of S1. Seemed like a soap opera and I finally gave up for good. It’s the only highly rated show on HBO that I didn’t care for.

The silo books are excellent. If the show is faithful to them it’s going to be elite.

I really enjoyed the first one, but thought they got stupider and stupider as time went on.

Barry has fallen off a cliff.

First episode of A Small Light was really good. I was glued to the tv.

Writer's Strike is causing a lot of shows to shut down production, if it's anything like the last one we could be in store for some truly crappy television

Ted Lasso goes back to a 45 min episode with one storyline and shocker, first good episode in ages

Definitely a really strong Ted Lasso episode. That was probably the strongest of the season and was a throwback to the quality of the show at its peak.

I feel very strongly you should watch all of season 1. I thought it was just watchable until the last couple episodes, which I really think brought it to a new level. Now it's one of my favorite shows ever.

(If you don't think it's great after season 1 then you can safely quit though)
