Unless you're 30 Rock it's tough to win 3 years in a row. I wouldn't be surprised if Breaking Bad won for best drama, Jon Hamm won for Best Actor, and Aaron Paul wins Supporting Actor. Either way AMC should do pretty well.

I think some people need reading comprehension. Never did they say it was a 2 hour finale. Some of us have been trying to correct people and make sure they were ready for a normal length episode with a sneak peak at their new Show all week.

BTW Rubicon was very meh. I may give is 2 or 3 more episodes to see where it goes but if it doesnt get better Ill be done.

BTW

but Jesse very much is, and he's very much not a murderer, and yet here he is, having shot an innocent man, for all intents and purposes, in cold blood. And he's done it for the best of reasons.
This is from gilligan himself.

Are we sure Gale is dead? Seems like Jesse turned the gun before firing.
06-14-2010 , 03:21 PM
They didn't say it was 2 hours long but they DID list it as extra long to trick people into watching Rubicon. Not sure why they thought that would work.

he didn't win it last year

Cranston won the last 2 years.

I think it is the movement of the camera which creates the illusion that he falters, and in the comments above from the creators, this seems to have been an unforeseen effect of the panning. Jesse shot him, presumably in the head, and presumably fatally. The music stopping and fade to black from the victim's perspective is meant to evoke other TV night time drama offings.

C. He was just saving his ass at the moment.
I would rule out B. At the time, I took it to be a non-threatening way of saying that I think you did, but asking you would serve no purpose. A guy who would order (or allow) that would lie about it if it served him. And likewise, Walt gains nothing with an outright accusation even if he were 100% certain, which he is not...

So, while the answer may be A, I took it to be more nuanced.

its definitely ''you probably did it but i dont wanna know and it would be stupid and dangerous to ask you''

James Gandolfini won 3 times in a row 99-01.
Cranston can do it, but agree Hamm is a strong contender.

I love seeing actors who've done almost exclusively comedy break out in a drama role and end up being fantastic. Cranston seriously has to be the best actor on TV right now. Aaron Paul is also fantastic. I loved this episode but I'm not looking forward to waiting another year on this cliffhanger. This season was by far my favorite, I love re-seeing the transformation Walt goes through by trying to be a standup guy to cold blooded killer all over again. Makes me wonder how many smart, educated, and morally sound people out there could easily turn into a Heisenberg.

One thing I especially loved about this season is Skylar's transformation and her support of Walt, FINALLY. The first 2 seasons I got so sick of her neverending bitching and moaning and whining about every tiny thing, AND she got way hotter.

I still have to go with Mad Men. I haven't seen it, but the people who prefer it are 23% smarter. Just ask them. The rich tapestry mapping the human heart, subtlety, nuancy, snargfle slrup.

(**) Though the camera's movement right before Jesse pulls the trigger may have created the illusion that he aimed his gun elsewhere, Vince (who directed as well as wrote this one) says that was not his intention. Gale is not pining for the fjords; he is an ex-human.

Mad props to David Costabile (Gale). Anyone who saw him in "Damages" and now this, guy has got epic range. Seems to be a theme in the casting of this show (Cranston, Odenkirk). Although I guess Odenkirk's part is mostly comedic, he has to be serious a decent portion of the time too.

I was like Epic Nerdgasm!!!!!! when they were able to get back together and cook again, only to have that rug pulled out from me a few short minutes later. Finale was five stars, couldn't have done it better (except it should have been two or even three hours long ).

Walt also has already taken three guys out of Gus's organization. Including two of his street thugs.
Walt won't even alow Schiylere be involved with the car wash now they are all gonna be a part of his drug empire? I dont buy it

This episode didnt set up anything.

It bought walt like, 10 minutes IRL

Well with the way they time events in the show, that ten minutes real time could be very well close to ten minutes in screen time.

Plus he plays one of the head editor dudes in S5 of The Wire. Not the rangiest part ever, far from it tbh, but he did a pretty solid job there too.

Yeah I though he might have shot the tea kettle.
06-14-2010 , 05:35 PM
there was another dot on reflection symbolism in this episode when Gaille used that weird kitchen device to measure the temperature of the water in the tea kettle. except this time, they went through with it
