Gus is one of the best characters in any TV show ever. The two phone scenes, and the hospital scene were insanely good.

This was a really good episode imo, LOL at people who said it was weak because there wasn't major action scenes. The dialogue was superb in this episode.

GUS IS THE MAN.

Really good episode.

It showed that Walt still doesnt know what the **** is going on in the drug world besides cooking meth.

I, for one, have to out myself as someone who could not figure out that the PI actually killed the second cousin. Is it really that easy to kill someone who is under surveillance, wasnt he in critical condition? Arent there cameras?

OK just the fact that they showed him at the hospital and disposing of a needle should be enough to make the connection. Unless the writers were brilliantly planting the seed for a hit man with diabetes subplot, there was no other logical explanation for that scene.

To answer your question about surveillance, Do you think Gus brought food over for every DEA agent in the hospital out of the goodness of his heart? Or maybe he knew that a bunch of people trying to get some free food would be enough of a distraction for his guy to get access to someone who everyone knew was not going to go far without any legs anyway?

There is a reason for EVERY scene in this show. They do not waste a SECOND of airtime. Look at the way they handled the aftermath of Skyler's "IFT" comment. Letting us hear the argument by way of Saul was brilliant.

I thought it was obvious that Gus was going to have the twin eliminated during his initial phone convo with the cartel boss. The cartel boss says something along the lines of "I'm going to find out who told the twins to kill the DEA agent." Gus being the badass that he is was obviously going to deal with that potential problem.

Although I agree with you that it's a little unrealistic that the bald white dude could get into the hospital room with the twin. On top of your point about there being cameras etc, when the DEA agents walked Walt up to the room there was a policeman standing guard and the room was clearly locked. How does that guy get close enough to the twin to kill him? Just further adds to both Gus' and the old white guy's mystique I guess.

*EDIT*

PocketTrips suggestion that the cops were distracted with chicken isn't too far fetched, seems a little too easy though.

The dialogue in this episode killed it

"Your name came up Mr White, we spoke briefly about your health concerns....I hope there's good news"

So damn stone cold!

Also, "its like all shiny up in here" and walt fixing the table made me laugh out loud.

EDIT: "Yeah....his cousins, that rings a little bell" GOLD!

I didnt even know it was a needle, I thought he left a tip, lol, ok that makes it more obvious.

Tbh, I interpreted the reason why Gus was there differently. Your argument makes more sense, I guess, but I thought he just did it, because he kind of has a close relationship with the DEA (fund raiser).
He just wants to "hide in plain sight".

I still think PocketTrips is right and it's not like anyone cared that he died.

Pretty sure Gus brought in the chicken to distract the cops who were keeping watch on the cousin's room.

It wasn't the only reason- I'm sure he wanted to send Walt a clear message that he knows everything about him- but every major happening of this episode was organized by Gus.

The look on Walts face when he realises that he has no idea how smart the guy he's dealing with is was so awesome.

Amazing episode - the last 6 episodes should have plenty of story to work with:

-Cartel wars (we finally know Gus' reason for setting up the Walt deal)
-Walt now realizes the type of person he's dealing with in Gus
-Skylar seems to be regaining some trust with Walt
-Hank's state of mind if/when he gets out of hospital
-How will Walt manage Jessie now that he has to deal with Hank and Skylar
-Will Jessie be smart and stay out of trouble while cooking with Walt, or will he try to scheme with meth-head buddies
-Will the attempted hit on Hank take some heat off of the Heisenberg investigation, or will Walt feel more heat?

My favourite little moment of the episode was Walt fixing the wobbly table in the waiting room.

Did anyone else notice the bees on the stacked up storage drums at the back of the lab?

Obv. reference to 'The Hive'.

Yea she definitely isn't starting to trust him. She knew he was bs'ing. It was wierd that she fell asleep on his shoulder. Maybe just falling into old habits. Im not sure if theres something else happening there. Probably will find out in future episodes.

Interesting Skyler developments. She stops Marie right in her tracks when she is trying to blame Walt, even though Skyler knows Walt is, somehow, more entangled up in it than Marie even thinks he is. Looks like she's moving towards a "don't try to bull**** me I'll stick up for you and spend your money" standard (?) druglord wife.

Don't really know where the story is going and I kinda like that and kinda don't. Some of the recent dark subplots I thought were gonna last longer into the season (Walt and Saul considering having Jessie killed, happy suspended from work Hank being happy while we know the cousins are after him) but snap ended within their episode. I'd guess there is gonna be a whole lot of cooking being done in the next episode, what with them having to make 400 pounds this week and all.

"Now thank me again and shake my hand."

So sick. And it's hilarious cuz they're talking in a room full of cops and DEA agents in a hospital.

"I hide in plain sight, just like you."

wowowowowwow.

Gus is an absolutely great character. The actor kills the role with his simplistic demeanor. I'm looking for some great things to come from Gus in the next 6 episodes.

She is starting to trust him again as someone she can be emotionally open with and seems to be slowly moving toward accepting and understanding Walt's motivations for becoming who he is.

She will never expect Walt to be honest about his current business dealings. The way she reacted to Walt's silly lie in the hospital was her way of saying "You don't need to make up stories about phone calls. I'm not going to ask you about your business because I don't want to know."

Skylar and Walt will continue to become closer as Walt supports both families while Hank is in the hospital. I'm guessing there will be a Skylar/Walt kiss in the next two episodes.

I didn't get that it was a lock that the PI killed the brother - mainly because he's a legit PI and I didn't think he would necessarily have killing people as part of his duties - plus the cameras, security issues. Also, I wasn't sure what that container was that he dropped the whatever in (didn't sound like a needle - maybe a vial). From a high level, made sense he did kill the guy, but yeah, the mechanics of it seem pretty shaky.

I was very curious who he was going to say he was on the phone with. Sky obviously knows his lying voice. He is so bad (good?) at it. Like the season when he tried to explain the extra cell phone.

Gus rocks. Loved how little concern he had when the druglord said he better watch his back because he think that Gus set this whole thing up.

Poor Gale. Replaced by someone who never probably passed Walt's class. As Gale said presciently, it is always is about politics and not the chemistry.

He is a legit PI just like Sal is a legit attorney.

Some people love violence/action. I love story building. The boredom of hospital waiting was beautiful. The paper and the uneven table captured the essence of it.

Prediction: in the series finale we will finally see Gus break down in a holding sell, upon hearing some Mexican cartel member has been talking smack about him on the streets and his sidekick PI guy (also in jail with him) didn't mention it, he will respond with "MY NAME IS MY NAME!"

If you were conscious while watching the episode and didn't realize Mike (the PI) killed the brother, please never post itt again
