Breaking Bad

I usually pull up this thread and scroll just above the first post about the newest episode. I watch it, then I refresh it and read what everyone had to say. I did the same thing this time and it was on post #2050. I hit refresh and it was already 50 posts into the next page.

Awesome.

I thought it was great. A little "uh" in spots, but still enjoyable as hell. Great last scene. Yeah, there were some issues with it, but I don't really care about those that much.

this, imo.

wasn't that the purpose of the whole coming in late but everything has been done already without him scene? Walt realized that someone like Jesse could even cook meth, on his own, in a RV, that was similar in quality to what he could produce. so why wouldn't he be worried about someone as bright and as accomplished as Gale working in a controlled lad setting, with his instructions/recipe?

i think there were multiple factors at work there.

three episodes ago walt initially turned down 3m to cook for a few months, now hes super worried about his recipe? i dont buy it, the 3m to him is enough to move on with his life. whether or not he can actually do that is another thing, but he didnt seem worried about gale stealing his 'secrets'.

amazing episode. had me on the edge of my seat at the end. can't wait for next week

absolutely loved the ending, wasnt keen on the rest of the ep much though, especially Jessy's first speech.

this is his plan obv, but his emotions and the high he gets (or the directors have shown the audience he gets) leads me to believe he will quickly give up his "moral highness" or acting like he doesnt care because he truly does.

I guess a bad analogy would be your friend who goes around badmouthing a girl or assures you hes done with her and ready to move on but the next week hes ditching you to hang out with her again.

No matter how many times he says it and tries to convince you and more importantly himself he still reverts back to how he truly feels.

Walt really liked Gale and working with him. You can tell from the previous episodes. Walt basically was forced to find an excuse to get rid of Gale and bring in Jesse to save Hank. You could look at it as killing 2 bird with one stone.. but at the cost of losing Gale who I am sure Walt was happy working with and also remember it costs Walt 1.5m bucks making Jesse a partner.

just watched the ep. I thought it was very weird. I didn't like any of the Walt/Jesse stuff. I mean, it made the recent plot developments seem very pointless.

The Hank stuff, though, was fan-****ing-tastic. Yeah, Gilligan played up the suspense and dramatization of the whole thing, but I'm cool with that. It is entertainment after all. And the way he just spilled the beans to his wife. Just great stuff.

OK catching up on thread now.

I thought he was genuinely annoyed with Gale, for whatever reason. I think he made Walt feel like he wasn't needed. In the Walt/Jesse dynamic, despite the fact Jesse can apparently cook, Walt is still the leader figure and Jesse is still a bit of a **** up. Walt could have just not showed up and Gale would have done everything.

Ending was over the top. Once again, ridiculousness that takes you out of the show. Hank was playing around with the gun right in front of him for christ's sake! I love the Ausin Power analogy. Sharks with lasers next.

And the Jesse speech. Oi vey. Tropic Thunderish. It did not feel organic at all.

Still love the show.

Yeah jesse's acting was straight out of a high school Acting class

If you have another look at that sequence, the way it's shot seems to show Hank getting the bullet into the chamber just as the twin comes around the corner of the car with the axe. Hank had already emptied his clip into the guy's bulletproof vest, so his assumption would be the gun was empty and Hank is just panicing, and the shot of him dropping the bullet as he reloads clearly shows him not noticing the bullet fall to the ground as he puts the clip in.

i agree with you, however i really think his motives this week with gale were at least 90% because of jesse.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just as cliche as you get. Good guy almost dying and bad guy needs to do speech or kill in a creative manner allowing good guy enough time to kill bad guy.

Also, every bad guy that buys weapons ends up killing weapon dealer. Actually didn't go down exactly in this case, but you would think that weapons dealer would show more caution when dealing with bad guys.

I usually agree with you, but I think it was purely a time constraint. He needed to create a way to get Jesse back in to save Hank, so he created a scenario. Appeasing Skylar by saving Hank is the ultimate motivation. I think he loved working with Gale, and the fact that Gale rendered him obsolete had yet to dawn on him.

on one hand I agree, but the split up was so short, and resolved in such a quick way, that it almost feels like the writers realized they needed them back together shortly after seeing what breaking them up would do. Just felt like a really rushed arc. I would have liked to see Jesse try his little mah and pop operation first (I suspect even getting the materials in big enough bulk would have proved comically difficult). After getting **** on a bit by the big boys, then he'd still act hard but need a way back in with Walt. Rather than just an assbeating at the beginning of the ep and an agreement at the end

to whomever said that walt had a look of disgust when Gale said they would be good friends, you are wrong. walt realized what gale said was true and that made the decision between him and jesse that much harder. gale is the only person in walts life that meets him eye to eye regarding chemistry.

Watching the latest LOST episode, just made me appreciate Breaking Bad so much more!!!! The Jessy scenes were Emmy worthy compared to the crap I just saw.
