Uhhh.. A dollar to buy some ice cream? That's his granddaughter. She called him "pop pop."

I took it as a metaphor commenting on the United States' dependence on foreign oil in the '90s.

And this confirms the season is going to be great.

So if I got it right, the Cousins are pissed/were going to kill Walt because of Tuko (sp?) but Pollos > Tuko (or at least, > dead Tuko) and so they backed down because they learned Pollos valued Walt?

Also was that laundry place that the Pollos guy was at supposed to be a metaphor for money laundering?
03-29-2010 , 09:54 PM
What is up with everyone and their hard ons for metaphors?

I'm sure its just another one of his business ventures that he is currently in. I guess it could be, cause its a business to launder money through and it happens to be laundry... but I never ever ever even thought that.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a hard on. It’s more just an appreciation for detail. When people see it and recognize it, it’s not too much of a stretch for them to point it out. Maybe it comes off as pretentious to some, but I don’t feel that way.
03-29-2010 , 10:51 PM
lol, yeah, if every other scene is supposed to be a metaphor, it gets pretty cheesy - wait, what did that pizza on the roof represent?
03-29-2010 , 11:05 PM
Point taken, but I don't think anyone has really stretched it yet. It should be obvious by now that the writers like to throw in little easter eggs to add a little flare. It's usually so well done that I can hardly fault them for it.

haha i think he was joking guys. at first i thought it was some kind of production facility where they soaked the meth to the sheets for delivery or something, but then i realized a guy like that would never be close to the drugs. at least not in the US

I always thought that Pollos guy was a black man

JFC this thread got stupid in a hurry.

You're right, please take all the obvious superficial meta discussion to the Breaking Bad pretense subforum.

I kinda want to dvr the series and then watch them all in a row but I just can't. such an awesome tv show

I couldn't do it now, but I might have been able to had I not started this season. I'm glad no episodes leaked ahead of time though. 2 eps of Californication leaked 4 weeks ahead of time during season 2 and I watched them immediately. Waiting 6 weeks for the next was f*cking murder.

walt jr. was awesome again

the dinner scene had me lol'ing hard

'he didn't get to school until 4th period and his eyes were all red, he must have been crying!

why do you have to be such a b-bitch?'
03-30-2010 , 06:01 AM
holy crap i'm a dumbass but i just realized that walt jr. has the same mental disorder as jimmy from SP

Some thoughts about the first two episodes.

I already criticized it at the end of season two, but there are too many connections between the characters and too many coincidences.

Did Walter coincidentally came "home" while the PI was there, who was coincidentally there when the two cousins, who coincidentally got to Walt's house while he was there (big maybe here though, coulda been following him, dunno which makes more sense tbh), tried to kill him?

Everyone is connected with each other. This is super weird and makes it unrealistic.

I dont know how everything develops, but maybe the family finds out, Walt snitches, loses his family, gets into witness protection and dies lonely.
The show has taken so many turns already, that it's impossible to predict anything though.

I think the Pollos dude will play an important role in the next couple of (or all) episodes.

Dude we're talking about a tv show, you're allowed to suspend your disbelief for 40 minutes a week

watch the preview on AMC for the next episode

Just watched 1st two episodes. Very well directed, shot, written, and acted. I'm shocked this show isn't a 2 + 2 cult classic!

Thought ep 1 was one of the best episodes of the series. Loved that Walt was playing the denial role and Jesse had found acceptance about the crash. Great Irony.

Favorite scene in ep 2 was Walt going ape **** on the cop in the opener!

Best show on T.V right now??? I mean there is Mad Men, but this has a more interesting plot imo.

i never do that (i've never watched a preview of the next episode when i watched arrested development, pretty stupid huh?) and wont do it.

AD previews are pretty cool, especially since they're almost always not in the next episode lol.

I still like this show a lot, but the 2 cousins annoy me, I like realistic (or that i can relate to) villains, and they're really not.
