I liked the pilot but its been in a nose dive ever since. Tonights episode was almost enough to make me pull the plug, maybe I'll give it one more.

There are a lot of problems with this so far. All the characters are so one note that you really have to question how much input Joss actually had. Would probably have been much better if they had replaced Coulson with Cobie Smulder's character as Coulson is not a strong enough character to lead the show. And they should have actually brought Ron Glass in as a full cast member. Possibly replacing the male twin as the pair of them together has so far been pretty bad.

God, I'm such a Whedon fanboy but this is just isn't working. Between being riddled with 80s action series cliches and the mostly flat cast, SHIELD isn't anywhere near the level I've come to expect from JW.

Whedon shows always involve a team and how this team gels is critical to the success of the series. Angel/Cordy/Wes/Gunn and the Scoobies were super solid. Dollhouse had varying degrees of success but did falter a bit. SHIELD just isn't happening at all. I initially thought the worst of it was the Wonder Twins but I was wrong, although they are still awful, Grant is easily the worst. Flat, generic and can't deliver the dialogue. Brett Dalton makes Marc Blucas look like he's channeling Daniel Day Lewis. Being bullied by his older brother was the catalyst to Grant becoming a super agent? Ugh, really? That's the best you've got? The WT are annoying but they're mostly background noise, but Grant is such an integral part of the show that he has to be better.

I know after the pilot Whedon handed off the show to his brother and Maurissa Tancharoen but they both joined the Whedonverse post Firefly. They try to make it sound like Joss but SHIELD lacks the cleverness and sharpness of the earlier series. I'll hang around because I want to be there when SHIELD finally finds it's groove but it has a long way to go.

Week 2: 3.3 (18-49 share) / 8.4 million viewers
Week 3: 2.8 (18-49 share) / 7.79 million viewers

If ratings don't start to stabilize in the next week or two ABC is going to want to do something to try and change the tempo. I don't know how many episodes are already filmed but they may try to drag Joss back in to punch things up. Some tweaks to the cast might not be out of the question either.

This was easily the best of the 3, but still pretty ordinary.

It's just really cheesy and the characters are so boring.

I'm done, and I watched the final season of Dexter.

see post 186... as long as they beat NCIS in the 18-49 it's never going anywhere

I don't disagree but it was the very narrowest of victories - 2.8 vs. 2.7 - and they've experienced significant drops week to week over the first 3 episodes. If SHIELD scores another 2.8 next week then they should be fine. Dropping for a 4th week in a row to something like a 2.5 could be a very bad sign of things to come.

Agree it was the best episode yet.

Agree it was still terrible.

At least Skye is hot, even if she is the worst character ever.

I think NCIS won week 2 also. Long term I'd bet on NCIS.

Show would be about 30% better if that ****** agent wasnt there. Worst character of any show.

And marc blucas didnt suck. He just played a boring regular joe perfectly. Never seen a woman hate his character. Mostly men jealous of a regular joe doing well in a supernatural environment. He did suck in that scene where they talk about "his arms". Yep those big ol 14 inchers on a 6'3 guy

the scene where she was running in a wet dress helped fill in a lot of gaps that were missing in the first two episodes. The relationships between the main characters are too cheesy, the writers should watch Arrow to get some ideas

No hes worse. I hate becca. I hate lori. Deb is annoying.

That guy is just pointless. I have no feelings toward him. he's simply bad and bland. It takes a LOT of poopinfested flesh to be on a major show and bring absolutely no feeling towards you

Totally agree. I had really hoped this show would be good but there's nothing inspiring about it at all. Cookie cutter characters, so so acting/plots, mediocre visual effects. Coulson was good as a minor character in the Avengers and other marvel movies but just doesn't cut it as a main character in my opinion. He isn't that interesting. And I need to see more superheroes. Just this group of s.h.i.e.l.d. agents investigating weird events feels like a cheap Fringe knock off with poor acting and weak characters.

I have officially cut the cord of this awful show. I can't believe this rubbish came from Whedon who created the delightful Firefly series. It's a complete outrage that Firefly got cancelled and this crap gets a full season.

Dropped this show after the first 2 episodes. Completely boring with no likeable characters. I used to be a huge comic book geek back in the day but I just can't invest any time into this. Get out early I say.

i'm really struggling with this. I'll almost certainly end up watching at least 7-8 episodes. Agree that the lead seems a terrible actor and can't carry this show to the extent that's needed.

I guess NCIS has a lot of 50+ viewers?

BTW, ABC has ordered a full season of the show.
